NEET 2024 Toppers List Revised (Out): Check AIR 1, 2, 3 Name, Rank, Score, Percentile

The official NEET 2024 cutoff was released by NTA along with the NEET 2024 result on June 4, 2024, 10 days ahead of the scheduled date. However, the revised NEET 2024 cutoff was released on July 26, 2024, along with the re-revised scorecard and merit list. The NEET cutoff refers to the minimum score a candidate has to obtain to qualify for the NEET counselling process. The NEET cutoff 2024 increased from that of last year as the number of test takers is higher. The minimum marks to be scored by General category candidates to qualify is 164. However, the category-wise cutoff percentiles have remained constant. 

The cutoff for NEET is released along with the result or the scorecard. The NEET cutoff or qualifying marks vary for each category, which are General, SC, ST, OBC and PwD/PH. Along with candidates' scores, percentiles and All India Rank (AIR), NTA also indicates the Qualifying Status of candidates in the scorecard. NTA also releases the NEET 2024 cutoff in the official notice along with the declaration of the NEET result. The qualifying cutoff for NEET 2024 is given below:

NTA re-released the NEET cutoff for 2024 on July 26, 2024, which states that two marks is reduced for each category as compared to the original NEET 2024 cutoff released on June 4, on the day of the result. As compared to last year, there has been an increase in the NEET cutoff across categories. The following table brings the NEET 2024 cutoff.

NEET 2024 cut off percentile for general category students is 50^th percentile. Based on this, the NEET cutoff score 2024 for the General category is 162. The NEET 2024 cutoff for the General category candidates of the Physically Handicapped (PH) category candidates is 45 percentile. The subsequent NEET cutoff marks for this category is 144. Although the NEET cutoff percentile for the General category has remained the same, the cutoff score increased from that of last year. This is due to factors such as easier difficulty level, increased number of test-takers and intake.

NTA did not lower the NEET cutoff for this year. On the contrary, the NEET 2024 cutoff marks is higher as compared to last year. NTA determines the NEET cut off based on the factors such as difficulty level of the exam, total number of test-takers, total number of seats, candidate category and programme. 

 The table below brings the qualifying or pass marks of NEET over the past few years.

The NEET cutoff score or ranks for Government medical colleges vary for each year and rounds. Moreover, the cutoff for the top ranked colleges is higher than that of the Government colleges with comparatively lower scores. For the General category, NEET cutoff for Government colleges is generally above a score of 700 or above. For some Government colleges with a comparatively lower rank, there might be multiple rounds of NEET counselling and the final round cutoff may be around 450-500. Candidates must note that the NEET cutoff marks for Government medical colleges mentioned here is indicative and absolute. The cutoff marks and ranks change every year and vary based on factors such as number of seats, number of eligible candidates, number of participants in the counselling round, to name a few. 

The qualifying NEET 2024 cutoff marks for General category candidates is 162. Last year it was 137. As expected, the NEET 2024 cutoff for General category candidates is higher than last year. The reason is, the difficulty level of NEET was lower this year, whereas the competition level has become even higher, along with the increase in the number of seats.

There are various factors which determine the NEET cutoff. The basic factors include the difficulty level of the exam, number of test takers, number of seats for admission, among others. The NEET 2024 cutoff is likely to be higher owing to the larger number of test takers as compared to the previous years and the easier difficulty level. Moreover, the number of test takers as well as the MBBS seats has also increased. Hence, there is a high possibility of the NEET 2024 cutoff increasing this year. Last year, the NEET cutoff for the General category candidate was 137-720. According to experts, the NEET 2024 cutoff is likely to be 150-720. NTA will release the NEET 2024 cutoff along with the result, which will be released on June 14, 2024.
