NEET PG Topper 2023 Sagar Lamba has secured All India Rank (AIR) 10 in NEET PG Exam 2023 says that it is his teachers who have motivated him to become a doctor. He also feels that to prepare for such a daunting entrance examination one also needs both emotional as well as moral support. And he feels lucky, to get it from both his parents and friends. In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, he talks about his daily routine, preparation tips and strategies to clear the exam.
Q. Congratulations on your success in NEET PG 2023 exam? How do you feel being a top ranker?
A. It feels so unreal to be in the top 10 I was not expecting this and when I first saw my NEET PG Result 2023 I literally cried. It was an amazing feeling. I am grateful to God, my parents and my teachers.

Q. Tell us something about your background. What motivated you to pursue medicine as a career?
Q: Which are the best books for NEET PG MS?
A. I am a resident of Delhi and I have done my schooling at St Giri School, Rohini. I did my MBBS from Dr. BSAMCH and we were the second batch of Dr. BSA Medical College, Rohini.
Q. How did your family support you in your journey?
A. During my school days, my teachers motivated me to become a doctor and also human anatomy and physiology fascinated me enough to choose medicine as a career. My family and some friends also played an important role in this journey. Without them, it wouldn't have been possible.
While preparing for an entrance examination with determination and consistency we also require emotional and moral support as everyone has bad phases during their preparation and during that time family plays a crucial role.
Q. Where did you complete your rotatory internship?
A. I am currently doing my internship at Dr. BSA Medical College and Hospital, Rohini and it will be completed in April.
Q. Did you appear for any other PG medical entrance examination?
A. No this was my first attempt at the PG medical entrance examination.
Q. What are your thoughts on the NEET PG 2023 postponement that many candidates requested? Do you think the exam should've been postponed?
A. I didn't let the thought of postponement come into my mind I would simply switch off the phone and ignore this news as these were the major source of anxiety at that time and this journey requires us to be calm and composed.
Q. How did you prepare for NEET PG 2023?
A. I started making notes during my third year from DAMS and at that time due to COVID-19 lockdown there was no face 2 face classes so I made notes of 19 subjects during my third and fourth year from DAMS only and my main preparation began at starting of my internship. I used to read notes solve and give grand tests regularly as told by my mentors. Grand tests really helped me to identify my weak areas and work on them.
Q. How much time did you devote to self-study vs. coaching and how do you manage to do both?
A. I used to give weekdays to my self-study and weekend coaching for Tests and discussion sessions. Though it was difficult to manage these with a hectic internship
Q. Did you take any mock tests to prepare for NEET PG 2023 preparations?
A. I Gave Grand tests regularly and at last, I gave mock tests. They really helped me with time management and maintaining focus and concentration during a 3.5hr long exam And also they helped me to identify my weak areas.
Q. Did you have any specific exam day strategy?
A. Day before the exam I didn't study after 4 pm and I relaxed by listening to some good music as it is very important to remain calm during that period. On the day of the exam, I woke up early, prayed and took a light breakfast and then reached my center one hour early to avoid any last-minute anxiety.
Q. What are your hobbies and did you find time to engage in your hobbies throughout your NEET PG 2023 preparations?
A. Throughout my preparation I used to listen to music, watched movies and also planned short trips so as to refresh my mind.
Q. What advice would you give to aspirants who are confused about whether to opt for offline or online coaching for NEET PG?
A. I would like to tell my juniors just follow the materials you have done from start. Do Previous year's questions and topics and give grand tests regularly and grand tests are just to identify your weak subjects and topics so don't get demoralise by the score of grand tests.
