NEET PG 2024 marking scheme is a must-know for all those who plan to appear for the examination. With the exam day closing in, it becomes more and more important with each passing day. The parameters which together constitute the NEET PG marking scheme are the type of questions, the total number of questions, and the marking system. NEET PG 2025 will follow a negative marking system. This has been explained in detail below, but before that let us know a little bit more about NEET PG 2025. 

NEET PG 2025 exam tentative date has been announced by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The exam is scheduled to be held on June 15, 2025. The entrance examination will be held for admission to MS/ MD/ post MBBS DNB courses. Let us now get back to the marking scheme of NEET PG. The marking scheme is an integral part of the NEET PG exam pattern. To understand the NEET PG 2024 marking scheme one needs to know the exam pattern first.

NEET PG 2025 Exam Pattern: Introduction

Mode of the examination – NEET PG 2025 will be conducted in an online mode. Each candidate will be allocated a desktop in the exam centre. The candidate will then have to log in to the system using the Id and password provided by the invigilator. In an online examination, a candidate can view only one question at a time. He/she has to select an answer and then move to another one. After the test concludes, the candidate needs to select ‘end test’ and ‘submit’.

Medium of the examination – Unlike other entrance examinations, NEET PG question paper is available in the English language only.

Duration of the examination – Candidate will be given 210 minutes to attempt the NEET PG question paper.

What Comprises The NEET PG 2025 Marking Scheme?

Type of questions – NEET PG 2025 will have objective type questions, that is, for every question candidate will be given four options. He/ she has to choose the answer from among these options only.

Number of questions – Candidates will be judged on the basis of 200 questions. Candidates can refer to the syllabus of NEET PG 2025 to know what kind of questions can be asked in the examination.

NEET PG marking scheme – The total weightage of the question paper is 800, which means every question carries 4 marks.

  • If a candidate answers a question correctly, they will be awarded four marks
  • If the answer is incorrect, one mark is deducted
  • If a candidate chooses to omit a question by not answering it, no marks would be awarded/ deducted for such questions
  • If a question has been marked for review, such a question shall be treated as answered upon the conclusion of the examination and shall be evaluated as per the above criteria

The marking scheme of NEET PG 2025 plays a very important role in deciding the fate of a candidate. Due to the negative marking system, a candidate may lose marks thus bringing down his/ her score in NEET PG 2025. To avoid this, experts and toppers suggest against attempting the questions to which you do not know the answer to.
