Assam NEET 2024 Counselling dates for the Special Stray Vacancy round have been announced by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Assam. The choice filling process was conducted from November 25 to November 26, 2024 (5 PM). The choice locking process was conducted from November 26, 2024, 4 PM to 11.55 PM. The seat allotment result was declared on November 29, 2024, and the institute reporting process will be conducted on December 5, 2024.

Assam NEET Counselling 2024 Round 1 was conducted from August 21 to September 5, 2024Round 2 and Round 3 were merged, which were conducted from September 11 to October 23, 2024. The Stray Vacancy Round was conducted from October 26 to November 4, 2024.

The NEET 2024 exam was conducted on May 5, 2024, and the NEET 2024 result was declared on June 4, 2024. After the declaration of the result, several concerns were raised. The NTA Committee recommended conducting re-NEET 2024 on June 23, 2024, and the result was declared on July 1, 2024. The retest will be conducted for 1,563 candidates who were awarded grace marks for the loss of time at the exam centres. The revised scorecards of these candidates will be sent to DME Assam for creating the merit list. Accordingly, the Assam NEET Counselling 2024 dates will be announced a couple of months after the result.

The Assam NEET Counselling 2024 will be conducted for admission to the 85 per cent State Quota seats of MBBS and BDS courses offered at the state. 

Q:   When will DME Assam release the seat matrix for Assam NEET counselling?

A:

The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Assam will release the seat matrix for Assam NEET counselling 2024 before each round. In the original seat matrix, which will be released before the Round 1, the total number of seats available for admission will be displayed. In the later rounds, the seat matrix will indicate the number of vacant seats for that particular round. The seat matrix will help candidates in the choice filling process.

Q:   What is the deadline for reporting to the allotted college and confirming admission after each round of Assam NEET counselling?

A:

In general, the institute reporting process is conducted for three to four days for each round of Assam NEET counselling. Candidates will have to check the important dates carefully and report to the institutes within the deadline. In certain cases, the last date of reporting to institutes is extended. There may be a possibility that DME Assam will conduct institute reporting separately for courses or candidate categories.

The Assam NEET 2024 counselling process began on August 21, 2024, a week after the commencement of the counselling for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats. The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Assam announced the schedule for the Assam NEET UG counselling 2024 for the first three rounds.  The Round 1 of Assam NEET 2024 counselling was conducted from August 21 to September 5, 2024. The second round started on September 11, but was stalled midway. The Round 2 and Round 3 were merged with the reopening of the registration and choice fillling processes from October 16 to October 18, 2024. The third round concluded on October 23, 2024.  The stray vacancy round is being conducted from October 26 to November 5, 2024.

Q:   What is the total duration of Assam NEET UG counselling?

In general, the total duration of the Assam NEET UG counselling is of three to four months. The total number of counselling rounds is also around three to four. On an average, each round is conducted for a duration of one month. The exact durtion will be updated once the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Assam announces the round-wise schedule of the Assam NEET counselling 2024. The number of rounds may exceed in case vacant seats are left after the last round of counselling. In that case the overall duration or the tenure of the counselling will also extend.

Salient Features of the Assam NEET Counselling

The Assam NEET counselling is scheduled in various rounds such as Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3 or mop-up round and special stray vacancy round (for vacant seats). After completing Assam NEET counselling round-wise, various institutes conduct their counselling at the college level to fill the remaining vacant seats (if any).

To participate in the State NEET counselling, candidates must register themselves first. Registration for Assam NEET counselling will be done online, and the form will be available on the official website of DME Assam. The Assam NEET counselling applications will only be considered and accepted after the registration fee is paid. After successfully submitting the NEET counselling registration form, the conducting body will release the list of the registered candidates whose applications will be accepted.

The candidates whose names will be on the list then have to report to the document verification centres if needed; otherwise, the document verification will be done online. After the document verification process, the candidates have to fill in their choice of colleges priority-wise. A provisional merit list of shortlisted candidates will be released for the first round of seat allotment. After this, the subsequent counselling rounds will occur depending upon the cut-off and availability of seats.
