The Assam NEET Counselling 2024 Special Stray Vacancy Round seat allotment result for BDS courses was released on November 29, 2024. As many as 157 candidates' selection statuses were provided in the list. As many as 23 candidates were allotted seats at the Government Dental Colleges of Assam. The institute reporting process will be conducted on December 5, 2024.

The choice filling process for the vacant BDS seats at the Government Dental colleges of Assam was conducted from November 25, 2024, to November 26, 2024, 5 PM. The choice locking window opened on November 26, 2024, 4 PM to 11.55 PM. The seat allotment result will be declared on November 29, 2024, followed by the institute reporting process on December 5, 2024.

The Government Dental colleges in Assam with BDS seat vacancies for this round are Regional Dental College Guwahati, Government Dental College Dibrugarh and Government Dental College Silchar.

Assam NEET Counselling 2024 Stray Vacancy Round registration process was conducted on October 26, 2024, till 11.55 PM. The choice filling process was conducted on October 27, 2024, till 11.55 PM, and the choice locking process was conducted on the same day from 5 PM to 11.55 PM. The Assam NEET 2024 Counselling Stray Vacancy Round seat allotment result was declared on October 29, 2024, and the institute reporting process was conducted on November 4, 2024.

As many as 691 candidates have been allotted seats.

Assam NEET Counselling 2024 Round 1 was conducted from August 21 to September 5, 2024. Round 2 and Round 3 were merged, which were conducted from September 11 to October 23, 2024.

Assam NEET counselling 2024 is being conducted for the 85 per cent state quota seats for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in the state. The counselling process for Assam NEET UG 2024 counselling will be a mix of online and offline. There will be approximately five to six rounds of counselling.

Q:   When did the Assam NEET counselling 2024 commence?

A:

The Assam NEET 2024 counselling process began on August 21, 2024, a week after the commencement of the counselling for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats. The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Assam announced the schedule for the Assam NEET UG counselling 2024 for the first three rounds.  The Round 1 of Assam NEET 2024 counselling was conducted from August 21 to September 5, 2024. The second round started on September 11, but was stalled midway. The Round 2 and Round 3 were merged with the reopening of the registration and choice fillling processes from October 16 to October 18, 2024. The third round concluded on October 23, 2024.  The stray vacancy round is being conducted from October 26 to November 5, 2024.

Assam NEET Counselling 2024 Process

Assam NEET counselling 2024 step-by-step processes are given below.

List of eligible candidates:

While filling out the application form for NEET 2024, a candidate have to indicate whether they wish to participate in the state quota counselling. The DME Guwahati will prepare a list of the candidates eligible to participate in the counselling of Assam NEET 2024. This list will be uploaded on the official website of DME. Only those named in this will be eligible to participate in Assam NEET counselling 2024.

Registration:

Candidates who wish to participate in the counselling of Assam NEET 2024 have to register on the official website of DME. The registration process will be held in online mode. A candidate has to pay a non-refundable fee of INR 1,000 (irrespective of the category) to complete the registration process.

State Merit List:

DME Assam has prepared a merit list of the candidates who will register for the counselling of Assam NEET 2024. This merit list is prepared based on the marks/ranks obtained in NEET 2024. The state will also prepare a separate merit list from an overall merit list for each category. Seats reserved for a particular category of candidates were filled based on the respective merit list.

Choice Filling:

Candidates will have to provide their preferences for college and course during choice declaration for round-counselling. They can choose as many colleges and courses as per their choice and preference.

Candidates will have to follow the steps given below to fill and submit choices for Assam NEET 2024 counselling.

  • Visit the official website of Assam NEET Counselling – dme.assam.gov.in
  • Click on the link indicating NEET UG 2024 choice filling or directly enter https://smbform.in/Pref_Ug_Assam_2024/
  • Enter the application number, password, date of birth
  • Click on Log in
  • Click the arrow on the box for the Institution of preference when a dropdown menu appears with the names of participating Institutions. Click on the Institution of your choice.
  • Candidate must fill in at least one preference before Locking. Any Form Locked without filling in any preference will be considered as candidate not participating in the Counselling process.
  • The Online Choice Filling Form will not be accessible any more once the candidate clicks the `Lock Preferences` button and confirms it. So, candidates are advised to check the Form carefully before clicking the `Lock Preferences` button and confirming it.

Seat Allotment Result:

Based on candidates' seat preferences and the choices entered by them, DME Assam will release the Assam NEET counselling 2024 seat allotment result. Participating candidates will have to either accept the seats by visiting the institutes for the document verification process. On the other hand, other candidates can opt for seat upgradation and participate in the next round of counselling process. 

Schedule for Counselling:

DME Assam will release the schedule for the Assam NEET counselling 2024 separately for each round. The counselling will be conducted on different dates for different candidate categories. The seats that will be left vacant after the first round of counselling will be filled in the second round.

Reporting to the Office of DME:

To attend the counselling of Assam NEET 2024, a candidate will have to report to the office of the Director of Medical Education, Assam, Six Miles, Khanapara, Guwahati-22. They have to carry the documents enlisted below, both original and a self-attested copy, to the counselling venue.

Documents Required During the Assam NEET Counselling 2024:

  • Registration form for the Assam NEET 2024 counselling
  • NEET 2024 admit card
  • NEET 2024 scorecard
  • Class 12 mark sheet
  • Admit card for class 12 board examination or equivalent
  • Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate or equivalent
  • Permanent Residence Certificate
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)
  • Disability Certificate (if applicable)

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for Assam NEET counselling?

A:

To participate in the Assam NEET counselling process, candidates must fulfill the following eligiblity criteria:

  • Candidates must have appeared and qualified for NEET 2024 exam
  • They must be at least 17 years of age as on December 31, 2024
  •  Candidates must be permanent natives of Assam
  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 Board exam in Science stream and in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have secured minimum of 50 per cent marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry & Biology at Class 12 Science level for General Candidate (GE), 40 per cent for SC/ST candidates and 45 per cent for benchmark disability candidates (PC-GE). The required mark for Physically Challenged candidate of SC/ST category is 40 per cent.

In case a candidate is not a native of Assam, he/she has to apply through NRI quota in order to be eligible to participate in the Assam NEET UG counselling 2024.

Q:   What is the process for allotting seats during the Assam NEET counselling process?

A:

The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Assam allots the medical seats by two means during the Assam NEET counselling. Both the ways are dependent on the NEET score/percentile of the candidate and the availability of seats. After that, the preference is given according to the choice of colleges the candidate selected during the Assam NEET counselling form filling process.

Q:   Can students participate in state level and national level NEET counselling process simultaneously?

A:

Yes, candidates can participate in both the national level NEET counselling for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats and the 85 per cent State Quota seats. However, if a candidate has already joined an institute, then he or she will no longer be eligible to participate in other state/national level counselling. Moreover, they will also not be eligible to participate for the next round of NEET state counselling once they join an institute.

The Assam NEET UG counselling registration process is conducted in an online mode by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME Assam). Once the registration and application process begins, candidates have to visit the counselling website and follow the steps given below:

  • Click on the Admission Notice section

A:

DME is responsible for allocating seats in the Assam NEET UG counselling process. The DME tentatively allocated 900 for MBBS and 40 for BDS via the Assam across the medical and dental colleges in Assam State, as per last year's data.

Q:   Is there a provision for upgradation of seats after the first round of Assam NEET UG counselling?

A:

Yes, after the declaration of the Assam NEET counselling seat allotment result, candidates will be given the option to upgrade the seat choice. Based on that, the counselling authorities will upgrade the seats based on the choices entered by candidates, in case the desired seat is vacant after the institute reporting process is concluded, additional round of counselling will be conducted.

In general, the institute reporting process is conducted for three to four days for each round of Assam NEET counselling. Candidates will have to check the important dates carefully and report to the institutes within the deadline. In certain cases, the last date of reporting to institutes is extended. There may be a possibility that DME Assam will conduct institute reporting separately for courses or candidate categories.
