NEET 2024 question papers were released by NTA from May 5, 2024 onwards, the day of the exam. The NEET question paper 2024 had four codes: Q, R, S and T. The NEET 2024 re-exam question paper sets were A, B, C and D. Each of these NEET 2024 question papers was further divided into six subsets, making the total number of NEET papers 24. The NEET 2024 retest was conducted on June 23, 2024, for 1,563 candidates who were awarded grace marks. As many as 813 candidates appeared for the exam. The NEET 2024 re-exam question papers were handed over to these candidates.

Candidates preparing for NEET 2025 must download and solve past years' NEET question papers to prepare for the exam. However, candidates must be careful of omitting the questions which are out of the current NEET syllabus. It is expected that the NEET 2025 exam date will be scheduled for May 4, 2025. Hence, with less than six months left for the exam, candidates should start solving past years' NEET question papers as part of their NEET preparation strategy.

The NEET 2024 revised final answer keys for the original exam were released by NTA on July 26, 2024. This revised NEET answer key 2024 is as per the Supreme Court verdict. Originally, the final answer key of NEET 2024 stated that in a particular Physics question, two answer options were correct. Based on the revision, only option number 4 of that particular question has been stated as correct.

During the Supreme Court of India hearing on the various NEET 2024 petitions, the apex court had asked IIT Delhi Committee to share its opinion on the controversial NEET 2024 Physics question which had two correct answer options as per the NEET 2024 final answer key by NTA. It has been opined that the two options were mutually exclusive and only option number 4 was correct. Accordingly, the bench has suggested revoking the bonus marks, awarding four marks only to whose who have marked the answer option 4, and levying negative marking to those who selected any other answer option.

NTA released the NEET 2024 provisional answer key and OMR sheets for the retest held on June 23, 2024, on June 28, 2024. The challenge submission window was opened on the same date, and the last date was June 29, 2024, 11 PM. The final answer key for the NEET 2024 re-exam was released on June 30, 2024, ahead of the declaration of the result, which was on July 1, 2024.

Since NEET 2024 exam was conducted in a paper-pencil-based test (PBT) mode, from 2 PM to 5.20 PM, the NEET question papers 2024 were handed over to candidates by the exam centre authorities. Moreover, several coaching institutes will also release the NEET 2024 question papers PDFs of all sets along with the NEET answer keys and solutions for test takers to analyse their performances and calculate the estimated score.

The NEET question paper 2024 was set in 13 languages. There are four sets, each carrying six subsets. The questions of all the sets and subsets are the same, however, the placement or the arrangement of the questions is different.

NEET 2024 question paper carried a total of 200 multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Zoology and Botany). Test-takers have to attempt a total of 180 questions during their NEET exam.

Q:   How many Sets are there in the NEET question paper?

A:

There are generally four Sets of NEET question papers, which are further segregated into six parts. The names of the NEET 2024 question paper Sets and codes are Q, R, S and T. For the NEET 2024 re-exam, the question paper sets were A, B, C and D. The multiple Sets and codes in the NEET question papers ensure that there is no malpractice in the conduct of the exam. The names of the Sets and codes of the regional NEET question papers are different from the English ones. While distributing the question papers of NEET invigilators had to ensure that they did not give the same set question paper to two consecutive candidates. Once candidates are given the NEET question paper by invigilators, they need to check whether the question paper and test booklet, or answer sheet is of the same code. In case of a mismatch, they need to bring the matter to the invigilators notice. In case they submit the NEET test booklet with a different code from that of the NEET question paper, their exam will stand cancelled.

Q:   What type of questions are there in the NEET question papers?

A:
The question types in the NEET question paper is objective and multiple-choice type. Each question carries four answer options. The difficulty level of the questions range from moderate to tough. The questions are asked from the prescribed NEET syllabus. Since NEET is a paper-pencil-based test (PBT), test-takers are given OMR sheet wherein they have to mark the correct answer option through blue or black ballpoint pen provided at the exam centre. While leaving the exam centre, candidates will have to submit the test booklet or the OMR sheet and rough sheet booklet to the invigilator. They will be allowed to carry the NEET question paper with them, outside the exam hall.

Q:   Do all the Sets of NEET question papers carry the same questions?

A:

Although the questions are the same in all Sets of the NEET question paper, the order of the sections and questions vary from set to set. The different order of the sections and questions ensure that there is no malpractice conducted during the exam. Even if some questions are absolutely different in separate Sets or languages, the topics and chapters covered and difficulty level remain similar to ensure normalisation. Hence, it can be said that NTA Sets a common question paper carrying 200 questions, after which the questions are distributed across four Sets and six subsets of the NEET question paper. The subjects, and the questions within the subjects are shuffled for each of the NEET question paper Sets. This allows a parity in terms of topics covered and difficulty level, as well as allows avoidance of malpractice.

Q:   What is the total number of questions in NEET?

A:

The total number of questions in the NEET question paper is 200, out of which 180 questions will have to be attempted. Each of the three NEET subjects will be divided into two sections and each subject will carry an equal weightage. While Section A carries 35 questions, 15 questions are there in Section B. While all 35 questions have to be attempted in Section A, 10 out of 15 questions will have to be attempted in Section B. Test-takers must ensure that they do not attempt any extra question in Section B. Although there will not be any penalty in terms of marks, it would incur loss of time.

Thumbs Up IconUpvote Thumbs Down Icon

Q:   What if I find a question that is out of the syllabus or with wrong answer options in the NEET question paper?

A:
In such a scenario, test-takers should report the question or questions to the invigilator or exam authorities and not attempt the question. The exam authorities will review the questions and in case the doubt is confirmed, marks will be rewarded to all candidates. It is advised to candidates that in case candidates come across such a question, they should move ahead and attempt other questions in accordance with the number of questions to be attempted. Attempting extra questions will not fetch any extra marks. Hence, test-takers must select the questions carefully. In case after raising objections it is found out that the question or the answer option is wrong, then NTA will award marks to all candidates. NTA has identified and shared the marking scheme for such situations: a. If more than one option is found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options. B. If all options are found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. C. If a question is found to be incorrect or the Question is dropped then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human error or technical error.
Thumbs Up IconUpvote Thumbs Down Icon

Q:   What is the correct way of answering the NEET question paper?

A:
Candidates will be provided with OMR sheets. They will have to shade the correct answer option corresponding to each question uniformly with a ballpoint pen which would be provided to them inside the exam hall. They should fill only one answer option circle, otherwise, the response will be considered as wrong and would result in negative marking. They will have to do the rough work on the NEET question paper, in the space provided. While answering the NEET question paper on the OMR sheet, candidates must be careful that they select the correct question number and fill up the correct answer option. There are cases where candidates solve the question and deduce the correct option, but make a mistake while filling the OMR sheet by not checking the question number or the answer option carefully. Such mistakes can cause a negative marking of one mark.

Q:   Who sets the NEET question paper?

A:
NTA is the authority behind the question paper of NEET. The questions are sent in by different professors and NTA selects the questions for the examination. No single person is responsible for designing the question paper. Generally the NEET question papers are set by an expert committee or panel of subject experts who later review the answer key challenges. Candidates may find questions from previous years' NEET question papers as well. This is why experts suggest solving previous years' question papers for NEET preparation.
Thumbs Up IconUpvote Thumbs Down Icon

Q:   Is it useful to solve the previous years NEET question papers?

A:
Yes, in fact solving the question papers of previous years is an integral part of the preparation phase. They help the candidate familiarise themselves with the paper pattern and help them prepare an exam day strategy. Students must ensure that they solve the NEET question papers in a proctored manner, I. e. within the stipulated timing and duration and in one go, without any breaks. Students should ideally start solving the previous years' NEET question papers once they complete the syllabus. Another way to utilise previous years' NEET question papers is to solve the subject-wise questions separately, after completing the syllabus of each subject, students should solve the subject-wise questions from NEET question papers followed by the full-length question paper.
Thumbs Up IconUpvote Thumbs Down Icon

Q:   Are candidates allowed to carry the NEET question papers outside the exam hall?

A:
Yes, candidates are allowed to carry the NEET question papers outside the exam hall after completing the exam and submitting the OMR sheets. Since NEET is conducted in a single day and single slot window, there is no restriction on taking the NEET question paper outside the exam hall. NTA also uploads question papers of NEET for each year and sets/codes on the official website. Moreover, experts from top NEET coaching institutes also release the question papers of NEET for one or multiple Sets along with solutions and answer keys. Candidates can refer to the solutions and NEET answer keys to calculate the estimated score in the exam. Based on this, they can also decide which questions to file objections against, once NTA would release the provisional NEET answer keys and open the challenge submission process.

Q:   How should I analyse my NEET mock tests?

A:

NEET 2025 mock tests must be analysed by the mentors of experts after the tests where they would point out the mistakes and suggest rectifications. They would also help in improving a faster and more effective way to solve a particular question. The analysis will help students identify their strong and weak areas and based on this, a better and improved preparation strategy would be suggested to them by the experts. Abiding the feedback based on the NEET 2025 mock test analysis will help improve their performance. At the last month before the test, there is not much scope left for the preparation. Hence, at the last few days before the exam, after the analysis of NEET mock test, aspirants should focus on finalising the test-taking strategy.

Q:   Should I opt for sectional or full-length mock test for NEET?

A:
During the preparation period of NEET both sectional as well as full length mock tests are useful. The sectional mock tests have to be taken after completing each subject. This would help you to gauge your preparation level and also help in understanding the areas of improvement. Once the entire NEET syllabus is completed, you should take full-length mock tests to assess the entire preparation. Generally students tend to take the NEET mock tests three to four months prior to the exam. Hence, when it comes to the final stage of preparation, ideally students should take full-length mock tests. However, if a student wants to revise a particular section or subject, then it is advisable that they take sectional mock tests or revision or practice purpose.

A:

According to the NEET exam pattern, a question for which more than one response is marked on the OMR sheet will be considered incorrect. For such questions, one mark would be deducted.
