Functions of Administration: Along with creating the 14 principles of management, Henry Fayol created five crucial functions for administrators and managers.
- Planning: It is about setting organisational goals for the future. The plan should be fulfilled as committed. It must also be flexible to adapt to changes.
- Organising: It is essential for the administrator to understand the organisational structure. Also, future modifications in the formal structure are necessary to take into consideration.
- Staffing: Organisations require a qualified workforce. Changes in the organisational structure are inevitable. For achieving newer goals in light of external dynamics, personnel administration is necessary.
- Controlling: Goals are based on time, quality, quantity and place. To achieve them, an administrator has to measure the difference of current output as opposed to the desired output. Control is a fundamental aspect of administration to ensure the plan goes according to plan.
- Directing: It is a regular task to cooperate with employees and make the right decision for the proper execution of a plan.
