Q:   Who is eligible for RBI Assistant?

A:

Any graduate candidate who are between 20 and 28 years can apply for the exam. Candidates born not earlier than 02/09/1995 and not later than 01/09/2003 (both days inclusive) are only eligible to apply. Relaxation in the upper age limit of five years will be provided to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates, three years to OBC, 10 years to PWD, 10 years to widows/divorced women/ women judicially separated who are not re-married, five years to candidates domiciled in the state of Jammu and Kashmir during the period January 1, 1980, to December 31, 1989, etc. Candidates should be proficient in the local language of the state/UT they are applying to.

Q:   Is RBI Assistant equal to clerk?

RBI Assistant exam is a entry-level exam conducted by the Reserve Bank of India. RBI Assistant test is designed to recruit clerical staff for the regional offices of RBI. The selection processes is almost common like other Clerical level exams in significant terms of age and selection criteria, exam structure, and selection process stages. RBI Assistant Application Form 2024

RBI Assistant apply online link will be activated on September 2024. Only online applications are accepted for the exam. RBI Assistant application form filling comprises registration, uploading the scanned photograph and signature, filling the detailed application form, previewing the application form and paying the application fees. RBI Assistant application fee is INR 450 for OBC/General/EWS categories and INR 50 for SC/ST/PWD/EXS. Candidates are not required to send the hard copy of RBI Assistant application form. The steps to fill RBI Assistant application form are given below:

  • Registration number and password are generated

RBI Assistant eligibility highlights the parameters in terms of age limit, educational qualification and proficiency in language.

RBI Assistant Age Limit

RBI Assistant age limit of candidates should be between 20 and 28 years. Candidates born not earlier than 02/09/1995 and not later than 01/09/2003 (both days inclusive) are only eligible to apply.

Q:   Why is RBI Assistant exam conducted?

A:

RBI Assistant exam is conducted every year to recruit eligible graduate candidates for the post of Assistant in various branches of the RBI across India. Lakhs of candidates appear for RBI Assistant exam. The selection process followed by RBI to select candidates for the post of Assistant is carried through Prelims, Mains and Language Proficiency Test. The final result will be based on the marks scored in the Mains Exam and Language test. RBI Assistant is responsible for maintaining records/files, document verification, ensuring financial stability, issuing & circulating new currency, day-to-day transactions, attending Government Treasury Work, replying to emails and more. 

Q:   What is RBI Assistant selection process?

A:
The selection process includes preliminary and Mains exams followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT). The prelims exam is divided into three sections English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. The total marks allotted to the test are 100. The total duration of the preliminary exam is 60 minutes. The Mains exam carries questions from Test of Reasoning, Test of English Language, Test of Numerical Ability, Test of General Awareness and Test of Computer Knowledge. The total marks allotted to the test are 200. The marks of the Mains exam are taken into consideration for the final merit list. Candidates qualifying the Mains exam are called for LPT. The marks obtained in the prelims exam are not counted for the final merit list. The prelims exam serves as a screening test for the mains exam.

Q:   Which one is better - RBI Assistant or SBI PO?

A:
SBI PO and RBI Assistant are the most sought after banking exams in the country. The participation of candidates is more in SBI PO than RBI Assistant. The number of vacancies are more in SBI PO than in RBI Assistant. SBI PO is conducted for the recruitment of Probationary Officers in the various branches of SBI. RBI Assistant exam is conducted for recruitment of Assistants in the various region-wise offices in RBI. There is a difference in the selection process of SBI PO and RBI Assistant. SBI PO selection process include prelims exam, Mains exam, psychometric test, group exercises and interview. Since RBI Assistant is a lower level post it include prelims and Mains exams. The exam pattern and syllabus are different for SBI PO and RBI Assistant exams.

Q:   Is there any bond period for the RBI Assistant job?

A:
No, there is no required bond period after being chosen as an RBI Assistant. After getting selected, you will have to undergo a six-month probationary period before getting a permanent posting as an RBI Assistant. However, there is a mandatory two-year service or bond period to be considered for promotion. This is for those who want to apply for the promotion to the manager-level post in RBI after getting selected as assistants. After serving two years, the assistants in RBI become eligible for merit-based promotions to higher-level posts.

Q:   Can an RBI assistant apply for the RBI grade B (direct exam) after joining?

A:

Yes, an RBI assistant can apply for the RBI Grade B (direct exam) after joining. However, it is important to note that there may be certain eligibility criteria that must be met in order to be considered for the exam. Additionally, it is  important to check the official website of the Reserve Bank of India for the latest information on the exam, including the application process and deadlines. Candidates are required to submit No Objection Certificate from the employer. RBI Assistant application form needs to be submitted online. To submit the application form, candidates need to pay the required application fees. The application fees needs to be paid online.

Q:   I am unable to upload photo and signature while filling out the RBI Assistant application form. What should I do?

A:

The photograph and signature should be uploaded in RBI application form as per the format prescribed by the examination authority. The prescribed size of the photograph and signature has been given below for the candidates: a) Photograph resolution: 200 x 230 pixels b) Size of file for photograph should be between 20KB-50KB c) Signature resolution: 140 x 60 pixels d) Size of file for signature should be between 10KB - 20KB.

Q:   How to upload RBI Assistant hand written declaration?

A:

Candidates must have the scanned image of RBI Assistant handwritten declaration. The online applications are not processed unless the handwritten declaration is uploaded as directed. If the RBI Assistant handwritten declaration is wrong, the candidate's candidature may be disallowed. Before submitting the handwritten declaration, candidates must read the the guidelines to upload it carefully. The steps to upload RBI Assistant handwritten declaration are given below: a) Click the link to upload RBI Assistant handwritten declaration b) Browse the file where the handwritten declaration is saved c) Select the file and click on the upload button d) The handwritten declaration should be uploaded in the preferred dimension.

Q:   How many years of age relaxation is given to unreserved category candidates for RBI Grade B exam?

A:
Candidates belonging to the unreserved categories are given relaxation in the upper age limit. The category-wise age relaxation given to candidates are given below: Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST)-By 5 years, I. e. up to 33 years Other Backward Classes (OBC)-By 3 years, I. e. up to 31 years Persons with Disabilities (PWD)-By 10 years (GEN/ EWS), 13 years (OBC) & 15 years (SC/ST) Ex-Servicemen-To the extent of service rendered by them in Armed Forces plus an additional period of 3 years subject to maximum of 50 years Widows/divorced women/ women judicially separated who are not re-married-By 10 years Candidates domiciled in the state of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from 1st January, 1980 to 31st December, 1989-By 5 years Candidates having work experience in Reserve Bank of India-To the extent of number of years of such experience, subject to maximum of 3 years.

Relaxation in the upper age limit of five years will be provided to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates, three years to OBC, 10 years to PWD, 10 years to widows/divorced women/ women judicially separated who are not re-married, five years to candidates domiciled in the state of Jammu and Kashmir during the period January 1, 1980, to December 31, 1989, etc.

RBI Assistant Educational Qualification

Candidates must have completed graduation from any discipline with a minimum of 50 per cent (pass class for SC/ST/PwBD candidates). Candidates must have knowledge of computers.

Proficiency of language

Candidates should be proficient in the local language of the state/UT they are applying to. This means they must know to read, write, speak and understand the concerned language of the state/UT.

RBI Assistant Admit Card 2024

RBI Assistant admit card 2024 will be released online separately for prelims and mains exams. To download the RBI Assistant admit card, candidates need to enter registration number or roll number and date of birth and password. The hard copy of the admit card is not sent to candidates by post. Candidates need to carry the printed copy of RBI Assistant admit card along with one photo-identity proof to the exam centre.
