Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is a national-level entrance test conducted by National Testing Agency for admission to Undergraduate (UG) courses offered by participating universities. It is one of the biggest UG entrance examinations which records nearly 14 lakh unique registrations. CUET UG 2025 exam will be held in May/June 2025 in hybrid mode expecting the registrations to be the same as in the previous year.
CUET UG is a crucial step for students aiming for undergraduate programs. But just how many students appear for CUET UG each year? For CUET, the number of students registered were reduced by 1.5 lakh compared last year. The maximum number of registrations were received for CUET English subject. NTA has released information about the number of students who have registered for CUET UG 2024. The number of students registered has reduced by a marginal number this year. Candidates can know the number of students who appeared for the exam on the release of the CUET UG 2024 results.
Q: How do I select the domain subjects for CUET UG?
Q: Can I opt for several subjects in section II of CUET to apply for various courses?
Yes, an CUET applicant can opt for one or more combinations of the following:
- Section I: Language Test
- Section II: Domain subject test
- Section III: General Aptitude Test
Candidates will be able to opt up to a maximum of five subjects in order to apply to different applicable courses that require these subjects for being eligible for admissions. Candidates can choose subjects irrresptive of subjects studied in 12th grade under their eligibility conditions for a particular programme.
Q: Does CUET require OBC certificate?
Yes, OBC candidates applying for CUET must upload the OBC-NCL certificate in online CUET application form. The OBC-NCL certificate must be issued in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India. If candidate fail to upload the OBC-NCL certificate (issued on or after 01 April, 2024) at the time of CUET 2025 registration, then in such case they will have to upload a declaration in lieu of OBC-NCl certificate to that effect.
Candidates belonging to reserved categories are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules prescribed by Government of India. However, in the case of central universities admission, the reservation criteria of the respective university shall be applicable.

Number of Students Appeared in CUET 2023
Q: How do I apply for a college which requires CUET percentage even though am yet to give CUET?
Candidates can apply for CUET score accepting colleges through CUET UG 2025 application form. While filling the application form, candidates will be required to enter the name of the preffered universities and courses in order of preference. On declaration of the CUET results, the scores will be shared with the unoversities for which candidate has applied. Basis on the score obtained candidate will be shortlisted for the applied course.
Q: When can I apply for the CUET exam?
National Testing Agency (NTA) will commence the CUET UG 2025 registrations at cuetug.ntaonline.in. Candidates desirous of taking admission to University/college through CUET must fill the application form before the deadline. On the release of the CUET notification important dates for CUET 2025 will be announced. CUET 2025 application process will be in online mode. Candidates will be required to fill the application form, upload documents and pay the application fee in online mode only. CUET is a gateway to more tahn 250 universities across India for its UG courses.
Q: How many subjects can I choose for the CUET exam?
From CUET UG 2025 onwards, candidates can now choose for five CUET subjects. Earlier, the subject choices were six. With the rediuction in number of CUET subjects, the choices have been reduced. Candidates can opt for five subjects from 23 domain subjects of any stream irrespective of subjects studied in class 12th.
Q: Can I join S K Somaiya College without CUET for B.Sc?
S. K. Somaiya College offers multiple pathways for admission to its B.Sc. program. Besides the CUET applicants with a non zero SAT 2024 score are eligible. Additionally scores from exams like JEE-Main (Paper-1) 2024, PERA CET-2024 and MHT CET 2024 are considered. Interim admission in Phase 1 is based on Semester V results while Phase 2 includes a personal interview. Final decisions are made considering both academic merit and interview performance.
