Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers Bachelor of Education (BEd) programme in distance learning mode under its School of Education (SOE). The duration of IGNOU BEd course is minimum two and maximum five years.

IGNOU admissions in BEd are done on the basis of candidates’ performance in the entrance test conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the university in different cities across India. However, mere appearing in IGNOU BEd 2020 Entrance Test does not amount to acceptance of candidates' eligibility for the course. The final IGNOU BEd admission is subject to candidates’ rank in the merit list and production of eligibility proof along with original certificates and course fee. The course fee for BEd offered at IGNOU is Rs 50,000.

Candidates need to fulfill the parameters mentioned below in order to meet eligibility for IGNOU BEd Entrance Test 2020:

  • Candidates should clear their graduation or post-graduation in Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Commerce/ Humanities  with at least 50% marks
  • Candidates who possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology with specialisation in Science and Mathematics and minimum 55% aggregate marks are also eligible to apply for the course

Food Nutrition

BSc (Home Science) specialisation in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition or PG Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition or Graduate (BSc Hons) or equivalent (MBBS, BHHS, etc.) from the following background – Home Science/ Food Science and Technology, Life Science, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical, Catering along with the DNHE or CNCC or CFN offered by IGNOU (simultaneous admission for CFN/ CNCC is also permitted)

Counselling and Family Therapy

Bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognised university

Environmental Science

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline Science/ Engineering/ Agricultural Science/ Forestry/ Veterinary Science from a recognised university

Mathematics with Application in Computer Science

- Graduate with a major or Hons in Mathematics with at least 50% aggregate - If the seats at a centre remain vacant then: Graduate with a BA/ BSc degree with Mathematics as one of the three main subjects with equal weightage, with at least 50% aggregate and 55% aggregate in the Mathematics

Q:   Can I complete graduation in 2 years from IGNOU?

A:
From the academic Year 2022, New Education Scheme is launched, in which after completing 1 year in Graduation You will get a Certificate of completing 1 year, And after 2nd year You will get a Diploma in the Graduation, And for the Degree you have to complete the 3 years and you can also get a research degree after 4th year. This Scheme is Very Useful because if you left the graduation in middle you can continue that after some time when you need with the help of Diploma Certificate etc. Upvote.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for B.Ed in IGNOU?

A:
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) provides admission to its distance course Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. ) on the basis of merit in an entrance test conducted by IGNOU. IGNOU allows a maximum 5-year duration to complete this degree course. The eligibility criteria for the IGNOU B.Ed. are as follows: Academic eligibility: Graduation and/or post-graduation in any subject with at least 50% aggregate (except degrees in technology or engineering, where you need 55% aggregate). Professional Eligibility: Either be a trained "in-service" teacher in elementary education or have completed an NCTE-recognised teacher education programme in regular mode. Entrance exam qualification: The IGNOU-B.Ed. entrance test.
  • Candidates should be trained in-service teachers in elementary education
  • Candidates should complete an NCTE recognised teacher education programme in face-to-face mode

IGNOU BEd Age Criteria

There is no minimum or maximum age bar prescribed for IGNOU BEd admission 2020. This means that candidates belonging to any age group can apply for admission in IGNOU BEd course.

IGNOU BEd Eligibility: Reservation

As per the rules of central government of India, candidates belonging to below-mentioned categories are provided reservation and relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility for IGNOU BEd admission 2020:

  • Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • Other Backward Class (OBC) (non-creamy layer)
  • Persons with Disability (PwD)

Checking the admission status is important so the students can take remedial actions in case of a problem with their application form. Students can visit the official website of the university and log in using their name and enrolment number (also referred to as the 10 digit unique control number) and see the status. The steps involved in the process are mentioned below:

  • Visit the IGNOU official website, i.e., www ignou AC in
  • Select the 'Student Zone' option available in the navigation bar
  • Locate the 'Online Admission' option and click on it
  • Using your login credentials, log in to the admission portal
  • Now, select the 'My application' tab to view all your IGNOU applications
  • Now the students will be presented with one of the following options:
    • Fresh Application: It implies that your application is in the process of verification
    • Admission Confirmed: It means that your documents are successfully verified and your application is approved
    • Discrepancy: It means that you need to re-upload the documents for approval
    • Cancelled: It means that your request to cancel the already submitted IGNOU application is approved

Yes, you can do PhD in the relevant subject after completing an MA course from Indira Gandhi Open University. The open university provides PhD programmes in different areas of specialisation.
