History of Delhi University:

Established in 1922 as a unitary, teaching and residential University by the Act of the then Central Legislative Assembly, a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and social outreach has made the University a role-model and trend setter for other universities.
Hari Singh Gour served as Delhi University's first Vice-Chancellor from 1922 to 1926
Delhi University initially had two faculties (Arts and Science) and approximately 750 students
Beginning with three colleges and 750 students, DU has grown as one of the largest universities in India with 16 faculties, over 80 academic departments, an equal number of colleges and over seven lakh students
When Sir Maurice Gwyer visited India in 1937 to serve as Chief Justice of British India, he became the Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University. During his tenure, postgraduate teaching courses were introduced and laboratories were established at DU
DU’s silver jubilee year coincided with the independence of India. The national flag was hoisted in the main building of University of Delhi for the first time by Vijayendra Kasturi Ranga Varadaraja Rao

Delhi University admission 2024 to UG programmes is subject to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2024) exam conducted by the NTA. Additionally, from the academic year 2024, DU has started conducting the PG courses admission through CUET PG for Delhi University PG admission.
