Annamalai University Highlights 2024
Annamalai University Chidambaram was established in 1929 as per Annamalai University Act 1928 and is accredited with A+ Grade by NAAC.
Annamalai University Chidambaram, through 49 departments and 48 affiliated colleges, offers UG, PG, value-added courses, certificates, and various other courses to students. These courses are provided across the Botany, Arts, Science, and various other streams. The university is approved by AICTE, and some of the courses are approved by MCI. The university also provides distance education to students through the Directorate of Distance Education. Annamalai University Distance Education is provided in various specialisations.
Annamalai University also offers more than 500 courses through distance education. Annamalai University admissions are both merit and entrance-based. Annamalai University admissions are based on merit through TANCET MBA, and NEET PG scores for admission to courses such as BE, ME/ MTech, MBA, MA, MBBS, and BDS. Annamalai University also conducts its own entrance examination for admission to the various pharmacy and PhD programmes.
The University also encourages financially and categorically backward students with several scholarships with the intent to promote equal opportunities. Annamalai University Placements are conducted by the AU Placement Cell. The median package for UG and PG Agriculture courses ranged between INR 3.19 LPA and INR 4.22 LPA. - One of the oldest established universities in South India spread over 1000 acres, came into existence on January 1, 1929.
- It was founded by Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar, a philanthropist and visionary.
- It was founded with the sole purpose of promoting theTamil Language and Literature for which the founder united three already established institutions.
