History of Delhi University:
- Established in 1922 as a unitary, teaching and residential University by the Act of the then Central Legislative Assembly, a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and social outreach has made the University a role-model and trend setter for other universities.
- Hari Singh Gour served as Delhi University's first Vice-Chancellor from 1922 to 1926
- Delhi University initially had two faculties (Arts and Science) and approximately 750 students
- Beginning with three colleges and 750 students, DU has grown as one of the largest universities in India with 16 faculties, over 80 academic departments, an equal number of colleges and over seven lakh students
- When Sir Maurice Gwyer visited India in 1937 to serve as Chief Justice of British India, he became the Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University. During his tenure, postgraduate teaching courses were introduced and laboratories were established at DU

At the undergraduate level, DU offers BSc (Hons) and BSc programmes across 19 and 10 specialisations, respectively, of three years' duration. Before the CUET counselling process for DU will even begin, it is necessary that aspirants opt for DU during CUET form filling and later apply on the CSAS portal to be eligible for admission. The admission process after CUET result declaration is explained below:
Step 1: After the declaration of the CUET UG exam, register on the DU CSAS portal in multiple phases.
Step 2: Submit College + Course combination preferences in the order of priority on the CSAS dashboard.
Step 3: The University has released the dates for three DU CSAS Seat Allocation Lists for all categories.
- The "freeze" option in seat allocation for CSAS (DU) is to be selected by the students to confirm their admission choice to the allocated college and course at DU.
- If candidates are happy with the assigned college and course, they can freeze the request through their dashboard.
- Once they select this option, they will not be considered for "upgradation" of choice in further rounds of CSAS.
- Candidates must only select this option only if they are satisfied with the allocated seat and want to take admission to this course & college
- If they do not choose to upgrade or freeze your admission, their current status will be maintained.
Step 4: Once the candidate "Accept" the provisionally allocated seat, the concerned college will verify the eligibility and documents uploaded by the candidate online. The college has an option to 'Accept' or 'Reject' the admission of the student basis the verification.
Step 5: Once the DU-affiliated college accords the approval, candidates will have to pay the 'Admission Fee' to confirm their seat.
On the basis of the availability of seats due to rejections, cancellations, and withdrawals, DU may announce multiple allocation rounds. The University of Delhi will display the vacant seats on its admission website (admission.uod.ac.in) before every allocation round.

Starting 2023, DU admission to all the PG courses will also be subject to CUET PG exam conducted by NTA. In 2022, DU adopted CUET UG exam for admission to its undergraduate courses. Yes, each student of LLM programme shall submit a dissertation carrying 200 marks as prescribed. The students shall submit the title with synopsis for dissertation for approval in the 5th semester on the specific data.
The supervisors shall be appointed by the specified data after successful defence of the synopsis by the candidate through an interview before the panel appointed by the LLM Committee.
