Q:   How are B.Tech placements at Guru Kashi University?

A:

B.Tech placements at Guru Kashi University (GKU) are a mixed bag with varying reports and opinions. Here's a breakdown of what you need to consider:

Upsides:

  • University Claims: GKU claims to have good placement records with collaborations with over 300 companies. They boast an average salary package of 3–7 LPA and the highest package of 10 LPA, with some students going for further studies as well.

  • Training and Placement Cell: GKU has a dedicated Training and Placement Cell that organizes skill development workshops, mock interviews, resume writing sessions, and industry visits to prepare students for placements.

  • Positive Reviews: While limited, some online reviews from GKU B.Tech alumni mention getting placed in companies like Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, etc.

Downsides:

  • Limited Data: Official placement data from GKU is not readily available, making it difficult to verify their claims independently.

  • Varying Reports: Some online reviews and anecdotal reports paint a less optimistic picture, mentioning average salaries closer to 2-3 LPA and limited opportunities for core engineering jobs.

  • Recent University: Established in 2011, GKU is relatively young compared to other established universities in Punjab. Its alumni network and reputation in the corporate world might still be developing.

Additional Points:

  • Placement rate: Specific placement rates for different B.Tech specializations are not easily accessible, making it hard to gauge the success rate across branches.

  • Location: GKU's location in Bath might limit access to major tech hubs compared to universities in metros.

  • Departmental Efforts: Individual departments within GKU might also play a role in securing placements for their students through industry connections and collaborations.

Recommendations:

  • Contact the GKU Admissions Office: To get the most accurate and up-to-date information, directly contact the GKU Admissions Office or the Training and Placement cell. Request specific placement data for your desired B.Tech specialization, including placement rates, average salary packages, and top recruiters.

  • Research alumni networks: Connect with GKU B.Tech. alumni through online platforms or social media to gain firsthand insights about placements and career opportunities.

  • Compare with other universities: Research placement records and the reputation of other B.Tech. colleges in Punjab and nearby regions to make an informed decision based on your priorities.

Remember, relying solely on claims or limited information can be risky. Gather comprehensive data, connect with current students and alumni, and compare other options before making your decision. Additionally, consider attending career fairs and job expos organized by GKU or other universities to interact with recruiters and learn about the companies that actively hire B.Tech. graduates. This will give you a better understanding of the job market and the potential opportunities available to you after graduation. It is also beneficial to reach out to industry professionals or mentors who can provide valuable insights and guidance in making your decision.

Q:   How many students can do B.Tech at Guru Kashi University?

A:

Determining the exact number of students enrolled in B.Tech. programs at Guru Kashi University (GKU) can be challenging due to the lack of readily available and consistently updated official data. However, I can offer some insights based on various sources: Firstly, according to the university's website, GKU offers B.Tech programs in multiple disciplines such as computer science, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering. Additionally, discussions with current students and alumni suggest that the B.Tech programs at GKU are highly sought after and attract a significant number of applicants each year.

Estimates:

  • Total student strength: GKU claims to have a total student strength of 7,000+ students across various courses. While this doesn't directly translate to B.Tech students,  it suggests a sizeable student body,  indicating a potentially significant number of B.Tech students as well.

  • Number of B.Tech courses: GKU offers B.Tech programs in 8 specializations: Computer Science and Engineering,  Electrical Engineering,  Mechanical Engineering,  Petro Chemical and Petro Refinery Engineering,  Civil Engineering,  Electronics and Communication Engineering,  Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning,  and Computer Science with Data Science.

  • Intake per specialization: Based on student reviews and information on websites like Shiksha,  the intake for each B.Tech specialisation at GKU might range from 60-70 seats per year.

Calculating a rough estimate:

  • Assuming an average intake of 65 students per specialisation and 8 specializations,  the potential number of B.Tech students at GKU could be around 520 (65 students per specialisation * 8 specializations).

  • This is just an estimate,  and the actual number might be higher or lower depending on several factors like actual intakes,  student dropouts,  and new admissions after the first year.

Recommendations:

  • Contact the GKU Admissions Office: For the most accurate and current information on the number of B.Tech students and specific intakes for each specialization,  the best approach is to directly contact the GKU Admissions Office.

  • Consider specific specializations: If you're interested in a particular B.Tech. specialization,  inquire about the exact intake for that program. This will give you a better understanding of the competition and availability of spots in your desired specialization. Additionally, it is important to note that the number of intakes for each specialisation may vary from year to year based on the demand and resources available.

Remember, the provided information is an approximation based on available data and might not be completely accurate. For the most reliable figures, contacting GKU directly is strongly recommended. By reaching out to the GKU Admissions Office, you can obtain the most up-to-date and accurate information regarding the number of B.Tech. students and specific intakes for each specialization. It is important to note that the provided information is an estimate based on available data, so contacting GKU directly will ensure you have the most reliable figures.

Guru Kashi University campus is very nice. The teachers are very qualified and experienced.
Placements: There are no placements from my batch (2016-2017). No company visited in 2016 for my batch, and no one got placed for a job in any company from the university. Earlier, Punjab government announced a job fair in Guru Kashi University. In this job fair, all companies visit to recruit diploma students, but very less salary is provided, i.e., Rs. 1,20,000 per year. All the companies which come to the university are small companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of Guru Kashi University is very good. Wi-Fi is not provided for the students. The labs and classrooms are very nice for students. The quality of the labs is very good. Hygiene food is available in the canteen for students and faculty. Hostel rooms are available for girls and boys, and the condition of the hostel building is very good. I did not face any issue related to infrastructure in the university.
Faculty: All the teachers in the university are very qualified and experienced. They help the students for their bright future. Good and knowledgeable faculty are available. The courses like B.Tech, BBA, BCA etc. are available. The teaching methods are good so that students can simply understand all the topics. In my class, there are 9 teachers for 70 students and all the teachers are male staff. Our HOD sir is a very talented man.
Other: In the university, every year, they organise the functions like freshers and farewell party for the students. The functions are conducted grandly, and the celebrities in Punjab are invited. All SC and BC students get scholarships for studying and hostel fees.

I said this university is good but in sports and normal facility not good in studies.
Placements: Placements are good, and most of the students got placed in the last year. Top recruiting companies of our college are Amazon, Microsoft, Capgemini, Nutanix and many others. Students work hard to get into top MNCs, and hard work of faculty members in their success is also appreciable.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good, and cleanliness is maintained. Food quality is better than other colleges, and all facilities are provided. Hostels are maintained good, and the food provided to us is also given to faculty members residing in the hostel. Wi-Fi speed is excellent.
Faculty: Teachers are always ready to solve our queries, and teachers are well-knowledgeable. Teachers provide PPT and notes of every lecture that has given to the students and help them every time. The course curriculum is relevant and makes students ready for everything.
Other: Good but not exactly perfect.

Q:   Is MBA/PGDM at Guru Kashi University worth the investment?

A:
{Source: MBA/PGDM students & alumni}

Worthiness of MBA/PGDM at Guru Kashi University

Based on the student reviews and feedback, here's a summary of what you need to know:

* Limited Job Opportunities: Placements are mostly restricted to Marketing students, with a focus on Sales profiles, offering a salary range of INR2.5 Lakhs to INR3.0 Lakhs per annum. Other specializations, such as HR and Finance, may not find suitable job opportunities.
* Infrastructure and Facilities: The infrastructure is considered average, with classrooms lacking Air Conditioners (ACs). While projectors are present, there isn't a proper blackboard. Computer Labs and Library facilities are also limited.
* Teaching Quality: Professors are helpful and supportive, but lack high-level qualifications and experience. The teaching methodology focuses on theory over practical applications.
* Course Curriculum: The first-year curriculum seems acceptable, while the second year is deemed wasteful by many students.
* Placement Record: Although around 40% of students get placed, the average package offered ranges from INR4 Lakhs to INR7 Lakhs per annum.
* Other Aspects: Events and festivals are organized regularly, focusing on sports and athletic competitions. The location, near Bathinda, has limited market accessibility.

In conclusion, while Guru Kashi University might offer a relatively affordable education option, its limitations in terms of job opportunities, infrastructure, and teaching quality raise concerns about the program's overall value proposition.

Recommendation: Prospective students should weigh these factors carefully before deciding whether to invest in the MBA/PGDM programme at Guru Kashi University.

Q:   Is Guru Kashi University good for B.Sc.?

A:
{Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

Pros:

* Cooperative teachers: Many students praise the teachers' willingness to help and provide guidance.
* Relevant course curriculum: The program's curriculum is considered relevant and industry-ready by many students.
* Good placements: Approximately 75-85% of students get placed in reputed companies, with salaries ranging from 2-6 LPA.
* Scholarships: The university offers scholarships to SC/ST students.
* Infrastructure: The university has well-maintained buildings, libraries, laboratories, and hostels.

Cons:

* Limited Wi-Fi access: Only faculty members have access to Wi-Fi, which may hinder student learning.
* Poor hostel food: Some students report mediocre food quality in the hostel mess.
* Teaching quality varies: While some teachers are praised for their excellent teaching skills, others receive criticism for poor performance.
* Limited exposure to modern equipment: Although the labs are well-equipped, some students feel that they could benefit from more hands-on experience with modern technology.
