Awesome faculty, labs, better exposure, good food and hostels, not good in sports.
Placements: If we talk about the placements, M.Tech students get placed in good companies. Recently our seniors got placed in TCS - research and innovation department with 11 lakhs package per annum. AIRBUS, Intel, General Electric and many companies will be coming this year for jobs and internships. I am not pretty sure about average package because I am in my 1st year. But, it's around 8-9 lakhs per annum. M.Tech students, mostly go for the PhD program because they prefer higher education rather than going for a job. As this is an ISRO institute, you can easily get an internship in any of the ISRO centres and other companies as well. M.Tech students get a stipend of Rs. 12,400 as per MHRD ministry norms.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure includes all facilities like 24*7 Wi-Fi, fully furnished classroom with a projector, 24*7 medical facilities. Library timings are 9 am to 9 pm only including Saturday and Sunday (varies in exam times). In sports and games, this institute is not good. Labs are very good. One can get all the facilities which are required in your field, and if it is not here on campus, they will arrange for you. As this institute is in South India, if a person is from North India, he may face problems regarding food. No doubt, quality of food is good and clean, but I have personally faced the problem with chapati. Talking about hostel rooms and washrooms are very good and cleaned daily. I personally never faced any problem regarding infrastructure.
Faculty: I want to tell you that faculty is highly qualified. In our department, many of the faculty members are post-doctorate, and the rest are doctorates. So, the minimum qualification for teachers is PhD. Now you can understand the level of studies. I personally feel that they are very helpful. They will help you in their subject as well as give you moral support whenever you need. As my area is theoretical in nature, projector and board both are used. If you are doing masters, mostly teaching methods are discussion type. I think this method is the best method of learning rather than giving continuous lectures in the class. The good thing about the institute is the student to faculty ratio. In masters, we have 6 seats in a branch. So 1:6 It is the faculty to students ratio. Talking about industry exposure, I have already visited two industries in the 1st-semester, TATA steels and VSSC (ISRO centre). So, I think you can get industrial exposure in this institute. If the classes are interactive, the course curriculum is always helpful.
Other: This is a short note for students studying in class 12th and interested in joining Indian Space Research Organization. This institute is the best platform; you can easily get into ISRO because there is direct absorption after B.Tech in the role of a scientist. There is no fees, no hostel charges and it is free.
