Overall, it is a good place for marine studies.

Placements: Till the end of the course of a particular batch, almost 85% of students get placed. Almost every shipping company offers the same stipend for engine cadets, i.e., around 500$. Anglo Eastern, FML, MOL, NYK, Torm, M.Sc. and more come here. 80% of cadets get placed in different companies at the end of their final year as a part of fest societies and parade contingent.

It has the best hostel life and culture, but the placements could be better.

Placements: 75% of cadets got placed. Many top shipping companies, including Anglo-Eastern, Home, Nyk, MOL, Fleet Management and Indian Navy come here. The placement scenario was better a couple of years ago but has gotten down in the past years.

It is the best place to become an engineering officer.

Placements: About 60% of students got placed. The top 50 surely get placed. Companies that visit are here world-renowned. Some companies that visit are NYK, Anglo, Fleet, Pacific Basin, Shell, Home, M.Sc. Scorpio, BSM, Torm, MOL, OSM, Science, Chevron and many more. Due to recession and automation in the industry, the demand for engineers has rapidly decreased.

It's a good college for aspiring marine engineers.

Placements: Fleet Management recruits the highest number of cadets from this college. Many big companies also visit the campus for placements. We don't usually have an internship, instead, we are sent on board for 6 months to complete our training before becoming officers.

It is the first marine engineering college in India.

Placements: Around 50% of students are placed on the campus, and almost 85% of students are placed within an year because of this college reputation and help from alumni. The packages offered are almost identical and the remuneration of a seafarer is based on their respective ranks. A chief engineer is paid 12000 US dollars average in a month, and it takes an about 10 years for a cadet to reach there. I am satisfied because of its faculty members and infrastructure.

Placements: The placements are top-notch, but the pandemic has hit it hard. It fell from 80% to 50%. It will recover as the physical training recollect their days. The courses are online due to cadets can complete them. The package for a marine engineer is usually the same and increases with increasing ranks.

This college has a good environment for the marine engineer.

Placements: Around 50% of students get campus placements in this batch, but this percentage is reduced from the previous batch in which 80% of students are placed. The thing is that those students who do not get placements from campus, they get placed from outside sources. The package is normally the same for all companies who visit our college which differs from 400 US dollars to 800 dollars per month as a TME. After that, there is a sudden salary increase when students are promoted to 4th engineer. The to...

Review of IMU - IMU Kolkata Indian Maritime University.

Placements: Around 60% of students are placed, and the remaining also gets a chance for placements after the completion of the course as per shipping demand, but I would suggest to grab opportunities before their college end semester.

This is the oldest marine engineering college in India.

Placements: I am in last semester and still, 60% of our batch is not placed yet. In covid times there are no placements, but in recent 4 months, only one company hire 5 students, and no other companies have visited for placements. The private colleges are better in this case.
