IGNOU Admission Process 2025
IGNOU admissions are conducted in two cycles, i.e. January and July. One of the largest open universities in the world, IGNOU course admissions are mainly based on the aggregate obtained by candidates in the last qualifying degree. However, for IGNOU B.Ed, admission is subject to a valid score in the IGNOU BEd Entrance Test conducted at the university level.
At present IGNOU offers over 200 UG, PG, diploma, certificate and doctoral courses via open and distance learning (ODL) mode. IGNOU UG Admission 2025: Eligibility & Selection Criteria
IGNOU UG admissions are held in two sessions-January and June. The open university offers BA, BCom, BBA, BSc, B.L.I.Sc, among various other courses across multiple specialisations at the undergraduate level. IGNOU Fees 2025
IGNOU fee is cumulative of multiple components such as the tuition fee and one-time fee, etc. The registration fee is non-refundable. IGNOU accepts fee payment in online mode via credit card/debit card/net banking. After completion of the first year, students have to pay the IGNOU re-registration fee to register for the admission year till the course completion. IGNOU Fee Refund Policy 2025
IGNOU University has a pre-defined limited provision for admission cancellation and fee refund. The registration fee is not refunded in any case. In a case where admission is denied by the university, the programme fee is refunded after the processing fee deduction. The amount is transferred to the source account. Steps for IGNOU Admission Process 2025
Candidates seeking admission to IGNOU for distance and online education can apply online on the official website. After the applications are submitted, the forms are scrutinised and admission is offered on a first-come first-served basis. Step 1: IGNOU Application Process 2025
IGNOU application process is completely online. Candidates willing to apply must visit the official website and fill out the form.
Step 2: IGNOU Selection Rounds 2025
Students who have applied for B.Ed, MBA or PB BSc Nursing must appear for the required entrance and check if they've qualified. The university announces IGNOU results on the official website of the university. Followed by application, application fee payment and entrance, students who have completed their registration can check their status by entering their registration number on the IGNOU admission status page. The university also notifies students about their admission confirmation or rejection through an email and a text message in the next two months.
For other courses, IGNOU admission forms, submitted via the Online Admission System, are scrutinised and confirmed for admission subject to the fulfilment of eligibility criteria. These forms are processed region-wise on a first-come-first-serve basis. Therefore, the time required for the processing of forms for different regional centres may vary depending on the number of applicants from the respective region. However, the university claims that within two months, every student receives admission confirmation via email or on the student portal.
Step 3: IGNOU Admission Confirmation 2025
Once the university communicates that the student is shortlisted, students are required to pay the course admission fee to confirm their seat at the university.
IGNOU offers fee exemptions and reimbursement facilities to students belonging to reserved categories, such as SC and ST. These students are eligible for Government of India Scholarships. Such students are advised to collect scholarship forms from the Directorate of Social Welfare or from the office of the Social Welfare Officer of their State. This form must be filled out and submitted to the Regional Director at the Regional Centre for necessary certification by the Regional Director.

Here are few things that students will recieve after taking admission in IGNOU:
- Once a students get admission into IGNOU, he or she will recieve the enrollment number and ID for future login to the samarth portal of the university.
- Based on the choice made by the candidate while filling the application form, he or she will then recieve the study material. Soft copy is available on the official website of the university.

Q: Â What is the admission process for MBA at IGNOU?
IGNOU admission to MBA was subject to a valid score in IGNOU OPENMAT exam till 2021. However, for the admission 2021 onwards, IGNOU cancelled the OPENMAT exam and eligible candidates were able to directly apply for the MBA courses via the online registration link before the extended deadline. However, as per the data collated from various sources, IGNOU seems to have scrapped the OPENMAT exam. IGNOU MBA admission 2024 is subject to merit scores obtained by the students in the last qualifying degree.
