Is it worth pursuing B.E./B.Tech at Islamic University of Science and Technology?

Based on the feedback from students and alumni, here's what you need to know:

* Placements: Placements are a major concern at IUST. While some students have gotten internships or jobs, the overall placement record is poor. Most students end up taking up higher studies or settling for lower-paying jobs.
* Teaching Quality: Faculty members are generally well-qualified and knowledgeable. They use effective teaching methods, making learning easier for students.
* Infrastructure and Facilities: The university has good infrastructure, with modern amenities such as high-speed internet, Wi-Fi-enabled areas, and well-equipped laboratories. The hostels are comfortable, with good food options.
* Course Curriculum: The curriculum is relevant to the industry, making students ready for the workforce after graduation.

However, there are some drawbacks:

* Placement Opportunities: The university lacks strong industry ties, resulting in limited placement opportunities.
* Fee Structure: The fees are quite steep, making it challenging for financially weak students.
* Sports Facilities: The sports facilities are subpar, lacking proper indoor and outdoor facilities.

Considering these factors, whether it's worth pursuing B.E./B.Tech at IUST depends on individual goals and priorities. If you're willing to take risks and adapt to the university's limitations, IUST might still offer a good educational experience. But if you rely heavily on campus placements or require top-notch facilities, you may want to explore other options.

Remember, every individual's experience will vary depending on their performance, course, and personal circumstances. This summary aims to provide an overview of the general pros and cons to help you make an informed decision.

Q:   How is the overall infrastructure of IUST?

A:
{Source: B.Tech students & alumni]

As a helpful, respectful, and honest assistant, my primary goal is to provide accurate and informative responses to your questions while ensuring they are free from harmful, unethical, racist, sexist, toxic, dangerous, or illegal content. I strive to maintain social impartiality and positivity in all my interactions. If a question doesn't make sense or lacks factual coherence, I will explain why rather than providing incorrect information. Additionally, I refrain from using first-person pronouns like "I" or "me" in my responses.

Based on the five reviews provided, the overall infrastructure of the college appears to be mixed. Some reviewers have reported that the infrastructure is "normal" (Review 1) or "average" (Review 4), while others have described it as "efficient" (Review 2) and "improving" (Review 5).

The college has various facilities such as Wi-Fi connectivity, laboratories, hostels, canteens, medical facilities and sports infrastructure. However, some reviewers have noted that these facilities are not always up to par. For example, one reviewer stated that the food served in the hostel was only "average" (Review 1), while another mentioned that the quality of food in the canteen was not good (Review 4). Additionally, some reviewers have noted that certain facilities, such as sports infrastructure, are not fully developed (Review 3).

Despite these limitations, the college seems to be making efforts to improve its infrastructure. One reviewer praised the university's vice-chancellor for their efforts to develop the institution (Review 3) and another noted that the infrastructure has improved recently (Review 5).

In summary, the overall infrastructure of the college is mixed, with both strengths and weaknesses. While some facilities are commended, such as Wi-Fi connectivity and good classrooms, others are criticized, such as the quality of food and sports infrastructure. Nonetheless, the college appears to be actively working towards improving its infrastructure.

It was a mistake to take admission to this very university that I might regret throughout my life.
Placements: Not confirmed as the university has not many connections with the companies that hire mechanical engineering students, which results in higher studies and ending up in an MBA, then joining as a salesperson in a shop. The toppers aren't guaranteed for the job; the rest aren't even on the list.
Infrastructure: Good but not great as compared to the fee that you're paying and also, sports facilities are the worst ever. There are no proper indoor or outdoor facilities for the respective games and you can't even complain as they are full of excuses. The rules are hectic, which are not even in IITs and you're forced to follow them; otherwise, you'll get punished.
Faculty: Some are brilliant and some are not. Some are really educated and some just copy and paste the notes and sometimes you'll realize that you can copy and prepare better alone without the help of the faculty. It is a horrible experience there every day, and the only day I'm waiting for is the day I finally graduate.
Other: The fee structure is very strict, which is very difficult for a financially weak student .

Our college is good in everything but lacks placements.
Placements: One thing that IUST lacks is placements. Every college in Jammu and Kashmir lacks placements. Our college does not guarantee placements. However, when there are placement opportunities, which are not available very often, students get placed in companies like Bajaj, BSNL, Jio, MI.Com, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college has a beautiful infrastructure and every possible facility from sports to labs. Our college has high-speed internet, and the labs are equipped with the latest machines, computers, etc. Classrooms have modern equipment like smart boards and speakers. It also has good food.
Faculty: Teachers here are talented, helpful and well educated. They use a good technique of teaching. Semester exams are easy if you study, and the teachers are always available when you need them. The pass percentage in exams is 40% of marks. My course is relevant to the curriculum and also makes students industry-ready.
Other: I chose ECE because I love the technical field, and it fascinates me. Our college has a good environment, education, infrastructure and facilities but lacks in placements.

IUST and the academic life.
Placements: Placements in the university are very good. Students who have a CGPA above 7 get placed easily. The highest on-campus placement was 5 lpa given by the company Bharat Petroleum. Another off-campus placement was for a computer sciences student, which was 24 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very nice and well built. There are buildings with top facilities and the labs regarding each course are much more advanced. Rumi library is where all sorts of books and journals are available and hostels are also very nice, well maintained and very clean. The food is also very hygienic.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are graduates of IITs or other top colleges. They are very helpful and knowledgeable. The course curriculum is inspired by the curriculum of IIT and is very accurate and comprehensive. The exams are moderate, and more than 80% of students pass.
Other: I chose this course because it was my personal interest and they have many advanced robotics labs in the university, which made my mind more inclined towards it. The time duration of the class should be more practical rather than theoretical. College hosts events and festivals once in every three months, which is very nice and sports event also occur. Scholarships are also available for SC/ST students.

I am dissatisfied with placements, but facilities and infrastructure are average.
Placements: I did a bachelor's degree in electronics and communication engineering from this university. No one in our batch got placed in any of the companies. No company came to our campus for placements. Maybe 2 or 3 students got internships from our course.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure and facilities available are of average quality. Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, library, etc., are of average quality. Many times we went to the lab, but the equipment was not available or is not working. Hostel quality is good, but the food provided in the mess is not that good. Medical facilities and sports were good.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is also good. They mainly focused on syllabus completion without thinking about our future. The course curriculum is good and somewhat makes students industry-ready. Semester exams difficulty is average, and most of the students get passed. The pass percentage is approximately 80-85%.

I am totally satisfied with our college.
Placements: There is almost a 1% chance of getting placements in our college. In the case of placements, this college lacks behind much. No companies visited here. Companies give first preference to NITs and IITs. In PSUs, there is no chance of getting a job until the qualification of the GATE exam.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this college is very good. I am impressed with the infrastructure of this college. Every day we get free Wi-Fi in our college. Our college has the largest library. There is an ambulance in case of emergency.
Faculty: In our college, the civil branch is the most valuable and designated. In this branch, faculty members are very good, and every teacher is also very talented and well-qualified. Some of them are GATE qualified. There are also PhD holders in our branch.
Other: I have chosen this course because the civil branch is the most valuable, and I like it.

IUST infrastructure is really good, located at a very good place, placements not so good.
Placements: Around 60 students were placed in my course. Around 31,000 Nestlé, Coca-Cola, ITC, 2-3% in Nestlé, Coca-Cola, Food Director. A lot of students couldn't make it to top companies because of the non-availability of seats. Only a few students were able to make it to top companies.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure was good. The hostel was good, but the food available was not good. Games were good, medical facilities were good, and sports were very good. They took us to various colleges for different competitions and events. The overall experience with the college was good.
Faculty: Yes, teachers were very helpful and qualified. Semester exams were very difficult. During exams, we had a really tough time, sleepless nights, and the stress was unbearable. We used to have very little time between the papers, but in the end, we are thankful we made it through.
Other: It was my father's choice about this course. I would like to read more about food and the basic things related to it. All the events and the campus crowd were excellent.
