Q:   Can I get into JMI for BA without CUET?

    A:

As per the CUET UG website, students seeking admission to BA at Jamia Millia must appear for and qualify CUET exam. But, this being said there is no official information on whether the university will only consider CUET UG scores or other components as well for admission, it is tough to give the right answer. Students are therefore advised to reach out to the admission office for more details.

Q:   How successful is the placement cell in securing jobs for B.A. students at Jamia Millia Islamia?

    A:
    {Source: B.A. students & alumni}

Success Rate of Job Placement for B.A. Students at Jamia Millia Islamia

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's what we found:

    * Placement Cell: While there is a central university placement cell, it doesn't seem to actively involve the Sociology department in providing job placements. One student mentioned that "our department specifically does not" provide placements, although there is a placement cell where students can gather information about job opportunities.

    * Job Opportunities: Despite the limited involvement of the department in job placements, some students reported getting job offers from reputed organizations such as News 18, ABP, NDTV, and AajTak. The average package offered was around 4 LPAs.

    * Students' Perception: Most students opting for jobs choose to do a master's degree instead, citing better career prospects. This indicates that the current placement scenario might not meet the expectations of all students.

In summary, while Jamia Millia Islamia has a placement cell, the Sociology department appears to be disconnected from these efforts. As a result, students seeking job placements may not benefit directly from the university's placement services.

Absolutely a great choice if you're opting for competitive examination like UPSC.
Placements: There isn't any kind of placement option in our course, students usually prepare for competitive examinations after they pass out. Top roles offered after this course are, of course, in the government sector, also as assistant professors. Also, students can easily be part of civil service.
Infrastructure: If I could say about the infrastructure, it's kind of above average, like classrooms are comfortable and new, library also provides a comfortable studying background with AC and great cooling. Hostels also have good facilities with lifts and all, food is also really well and okay.
Faculty: Some of the teachers and faculty members don't know English, but they're a lot helpful and cool, and yes, the course curriculum is really relevant as it helps in the preparation of the biggest competitive exams, that is, UPSC. The semester exams aren't definitely that much tough.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to appear for UPSC and this is a perfect course as it's a combination of the main social science subjects, like we can choose three core subjects, and that can be selected while we do post-graduation and also while appearing in civil service examination. This is a three-degree program.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of the faculty.
Placements: Not in terms of percentage, but only one or two students are being placed from our department, as of my knowledge. And also, I'm not aware of the salary being offered. Saying the truth, I didn't know and heard much about the placements offered by our department. The university is having a placement cell.
Infrastructure: The department is well-equipped with a separate library, wi-fi connection, model classrooms, well-working computer labs, and all. Some of the classes are air-conditioned also. Mostly Masters students have classes from the department; we are having our classes from the new teaching block. When it comes to the hostel, it is very nice. My room is in the new building, so we have all the new things. Rooms are three-seater, well-spacious, and good-quality chair, table, cot, etc. But our cupboard is too small; we can't keep our complete things in it. Gym facilities are available in the hostel. University-free wi-fi is available in the hostel. Mess is in good condition, hygienic, and clean, but was not good for all the time. Sometimes its quality decreases very well. We have vast and wide lawns inside the hostel campus so we make use of it for exercising playing badminton, etc.
Faculty: Some of our teachers are very well prepared, but some of them are not, and they themselves don't know what they are saying. But making use of the library is all we are doing. Teaching quality is not good for all of them. Course curriculum is superb, but if we are getting the bad teacher, we can't make use of it. Semester exams are not very tough. If we have a general idea of what the theory is saying, we can pass the exam. Pass percentage is around 90%.
Other: I chose it because I loved economics when I was doing my secondary school. But after coming here, I'm thinking that I have lost my passion for it. The course and syllabus are very nice. To improve the quality of the course, the department must hire some teaching faculty with much more skill. Over all, campus life is very enjoyable. Campus is providing all the opportunities to improve yourself. There are so many events, fests, cultural programs, etc. organized by different clubs, societies, organizations, etc. The campus crowd is very nice. If we step out to the central canteen after 4pm, it is very enjoyable there with so many people from different parts of the country, from Kerala to Kashmir. We can improve our language capacity also by increasing our connectivity. The university is providing a department of student welfare; where there are so many cultural societies, students can be a part of it. And the same department is appointed for the scholarship things. I'm not much aware of the scholarship things because I'm not getting any scholarship as my mother is a government employee.

Even being an A+++ University, Jamia Millia Islamia has its own defects.
Placements: As our course is mostly an academic course, they do not provide any placement guarantee. There are no campus placement drives usually conducted on campus. There are no particular companies, especially any commercials, which need us for their running other than any policy-research or political research-related centres for assisting their research work.
Infrastructure: Our entire campus has wifi facilities, with exception in some distant gates. Our department has only limited number of classrooms for lectures, but there are enough lecture buildings separate for the same. We have one seminar room, but it is not that spacious, even to accommodate 50 people at a time. About the hostel facility, there is a good amount of hostel availability for both boys and girls. But a lot of complaints have been constantly raised on the food quality, lift facility, gym openings, discrimination against girls, etc.
Faculty: Teachers are all qualified and efficient in conveying their areas of interest. But the syllabuses are a lot conventional compared to the world-class institutions. Semester exams usually are not that difficult and are crackable with ease even if you do some last-day preparations.
Other: I chose this course because of the interest I particularly felt towards the content of the subject. The campus witnessed some kind of mega event, mostly as part of the Jamia Foundation day. And also, some of the big communities in the university also conduct some kind of fair every year. Otherwise, it's only the usual freshers, farewell parties, ethnic day and so on.

    Home away from home.
Placements: Placement cell coordinators are selected by an interview panel, including the HOD of the Department of Psychology. Salary packages range from 25-40k. As of now, companies from Delhi NCR and other metropolitan cities are recruiting students from Jamia. Junior consulting psychologist is the highest position offered.
Infrastructure: People are selected after a rigorous interview process, and only a small percentage of students are able to pass. Facilities such as washing machines, Wi-Fi, and a library are provided. A paid gym is also available in the boys' hostel. Hostel fees are comparatively higher, and extra charges apply for students who stay during vacations without food. The quality of food is subjective, but I would rate it as average. Hostel annual days are conducted exclusively for students there.
Faculty: Qualified professors provide quality education, although the curriculum is a bit poor compared to other colleges located in Delhi. I don't think the course here makes students industry-ready. Semester exams range from moderate to tough levels but are particularly difficult when it comes to the minor degree courses and the CBCS (Choice Based Credit System).
Other: It's very good to come here when we are happy, sad, for surprises, or for celebrating success. The facilities are open even on weekends, including libraries and reading halls. The department is extraordinary when it comes to fests, always making it engaging for everyone and inclusive. Students from other states come here when they have nowhere else to go.

Jamia is good if you’re looking for a good crowd.
Placements: The college has a working placement cell, but the number of companies visiting the campus is still low compared to DU. Another issue is that there is now a combined placement cell for MA, BFA, and BA, so companies tend to prefer MA and BFA students over BA students. The roles offered on campus are very basic.
Infrastructure: All required facilities for economics students are available, including a computer lab in the department and unlimited Wi-Fi access across campus. Hostel facilities are mostly in good condition, but not everyone who applies for a hostel gets one.
Faculty: The curriculum of the course is not as strong as Delhi University’s, but it’s decent. There are both good and bad professors in the department; some are very knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects, while others may lack depth in what they’re teaching.

This is the amazing life of Jamia; my course is average, but other courses are amazing.
Placements: In Jamia Millia Islamia, there are many courses, and most of them provide campus selection or a good amount of placement. But in my B.A. Hons Korean language, there are many opportunities, but there is no campus selection; you have to get your job by yourself.
Infrastructure: My course is very good, but in Jamia, my course is not good enough. You can pursue it from JNU; it will be better. My course fee is 15k, and hostel fee is 38k per year. In the hostel, Wi-Fi and cold water, reading hall, all necessary things are provided. The hostel is good. Every hostel has its own reading hall and common room. On campus, there are lots of facilities like Wi-Fi, water, etc. There is one big library and one big reading hall on campus, which is very beneficial to the students.
Faculty: Teachers are good but not responsible for any low students in the batch. They will not guide you according to your level of knowledge. In our course, there is reading, writing, speaking, and Korean history taught to us. Semester exams are really difficult; if you do not focus on study, you can't pass the semester.
Other: This time, my course provides early and good income sources. After graduation, you can take a job for a good amount of money if you are interested in the corporate sector. Our management should improve, and more classes should be provided. Our campus is vast and beautiful. Campus life is amazing. You can't forget once you visit here.
