Q:   Is JNU MCA entrance tough?

A:

JNU MCA admission is based on a valid Central University Entrance Test (Postgraduate) CUET-PG score. CUET PG is an all-India-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). According to test-takers, the General Test was easy and the Domain Knowledge section was moderate to tough. Although the questions were on the expected lines and within the CUET PG syllabus but according to some students, a few questions were out of the syllabus and tricky. The college provides excellent education and amazing quality education.
Placements: The highest package offered by the college was around 20 LPA, and the average package was around 6 lacs per annum. Around 30-40% of students were placed from the college. Our college also organized various research projects in which various students could participate and enhance their skills. Top companies include Google, Qualcomm, and many more. The placement cell is very responsive.
Infrastructure: The food quality of the canteen is excellent, and the events that take place all over the year are really spectacular. The college provides free Wi-Fi, and the classrooms are very large. The sports facility is also good, with a massive field. Both medical and sports facilities are present in the college.
Faculty: The teachers are very qualified. Students most of the time study by themselves. The exam pattern was simple. The paper used to be 75 marks, and 25 marks were internal marks that the college used to give us by assessing our performance each semester. All the faculty members are the real gems of our department and will guide you in the best way possible.

M.Sc. in Life Sciences - Batch of 2025

An average college for admission.
Placements: Since my batch is the first in terms of placement, there is no set quantity. Since our study is integrated, we will graduate with an M.Sc., and our university offers a respectable M.Sc. placement. Some choose the career, and many choose research-oriented sectors. Last year, the lowest package was 8 lacs per year, and the highest I've seen was 21 lacs per year.
Infrastructure: The laboratories and classes are excellent, and they are all air-conditioned. They are rather new, and they have all the equipment you need. The library is fantastic and open around the clock. In the library, academic buildings, and dorms, all students have access to high-speed (20 MB/sec) and unlimited Wi-Fi. Even though the new hostels are being built and have good space, the current hostel system is somewhat disorganized. There will therefore be first-rate facilities after the development is completed. Although the mess food isn't as nice as it is at other hostels, it still receives a four out of seven. The medical center is open 24/7 and is free of charge. The health center is spacious and adequate for everyone.
Faculty: Every student receives assistance and responsiveness from the professors. Since many of them are academics who are also conducting research in the field, they are highly qualified and have firsthand knowledge of the subjects. Good instruction that is appropriate for the pupils' level is provided. The course syllabus isn't quite as good as it could be, but improvements are being made. Students are prepared for the workforce via it.

If one has no option, then come to this college.
Placements: It is my first year but I know seniors who got placements last year with salary package of 10 LPA. The highest salary package offered is 33 LPA, but it was an off-campus placement. I also know a second-year student who is doing an internship at MNIT Jaipur and has received offers for an internship from IIT Delhi.
Infrastructure: The course and hostel infrastructure available here are very bad because there is no building for classes on this campus. We have been living in a dormitory for four months and have not been assigned a hostel. New hostels and buildings for engineering students are under construction.
Faculty: Some teachers are very helpful but others are not. Teachers have very little experience but their qualifications are good, though not 100%. Semester exam level is normal and some teachers give questions directly from notes. Pass percentage is approximately 85.
Other: I want to share that if one really wants to do computer science, try not to come to this college. If one has no option, then one can come.

Review of placements and crowds.
Placements: A maximum of students, especially from the Chinese department, got placed off campus with a good package of around 60 thousand plus. Our Chinese department has a good network of alumni. Also, if you clear the HSK exam in Chinese, you can get the chance to visit China and learn.
Infrastructure: Not too well-maintained hostel. You should maintain the hostel yourself. The food quality depends on the hostel. The bill for the course is around 3500-4000 per month. Laundry service is also available within the campus and also in a few of the hostels. Canteen is so good.
Faculty: Best institute to examine yourself. All the faculty here are the best and top class, well qualified as well. So many of them also studied at Jawaharlal Nehru University when they were students. They give you the best coordination from their side. You can ask everything without hesitation.
Other: Good crowd, regular fests, etc. are there.

B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2028

JNU School of Engineering (SOE) is a good college.
Placements: Hi there. I am Prasad Pullela, a student at JNU pursuing a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering. JNU School of Engineering started in 2018, which is relatively recent, so placements for the first and second batches of engineers were not very strong, with only 10% of students placed at that time. Some students were dissatisfied with the packages offered, while others were uninterested in placements and chose to pursue post-graduation, research fields, or state and central government jobs. Placements has been improving and are currently in a developing stage. In 2024, placements progressed from average to good. Around 12 to 15 students secured positions in Amdocs during their academic year through internships. This number is expected to increase by the time our batch graduates. One can anticipate good placement opportunities from reputable companies at JNU School of Engineering.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi available in lecture halls, hostels, and the library. Hostel facilities are good and classrooms are also well-equipped. Currently, there is no dedicated center for engineering, but it is under construction and is expected to be completed by 2026, as promised by JNU administration. I have seen the plan sketches and a 3D model of the engineering center, and it looks amazing. There is also ongoing construction of hostels exclusively for engineering students with a capacity for 2000 members. Additionally, we have the largest library Dr. BR Ambedkar Central Library, which offers excellent facilities and a wide variety of books.
Faculty: At JNU, we have highly qualified professors, some of whom have previously worked at NITs and IITs. They teach exceptionally well and actively help students by clarifying doubts, which is often less common in IITs and NITs. With their guidance, semester exams are manageable and not overly tough, falling at an average difficulty level. Students can write them with ease. The pass percentage at JNU is 50%.
Other: JNU campus is incredibly beautiful and home to various creatures that are not dangerous, such as nilgai, peacocks, deer, and a variety of herbs and plants with medicinal importance. There are different clubs where students participate in workshops, educational trips, and activities that enhance learning and help in resume building. ONE can gain knowledge and skills in areas like sports, coding, electronic circuits, fine arts, dance, and photography. These activities significantly contribute to improving skills and talents.

Not good for students who are seeking campus placement opportunities.
Placements: The highest salary package offered is about 12 LPA. There's no need to worry too much about placement, it depends on students. It's more about students rather than a college or university. Around 20% of students got hired.
Infrastructure: Whole campus is Wi-fi enabled, but the speed is quite poor. Campus has a great network overall, so we can access the internet on mobile phones. There are no fees for a hostel and dorms are provided for those students who are unable to get a hostel room from the institute.
Faculty: Faculty members are not good. New staff lacks teaching experience and are unable to teach us without using PPT or handbook notes. Faculty members need to understand that skilled and qualified teachers are required for teaching.
Other: If one wants to enjoy college life, this is the best college. There is no need to worry about anything, as there is a freedom for both boys and girls.

Here is the comparison of JNU and DU based on some key factors:

  • Academics: JNU is known for its strong academics and research focus. It has a number of world-renowned faculty members, and its students have gone on to achieve great things in their careers. DU is also a good university academically, but it is not as research-intensive as JNU.
