MGU CAT MA 2025: Exam Dates, Application Form, Eligibility, Syllabus, Results

MGU CAT 2025 exam dates will be announced by the MG University in February 2025. The exam is expected to be held in the first week of May. andidates can fill the MGU CAT application form at the official website. The exam will be conducted at designated examination centres, details of which will be shared in the MGU CAT 2025 admit card.

Candidates are required to submit the required document for verification purposes. These documents are checked for eligibility of the candidate. The documents required at the time of the MGU Kerala MBA application process are as follows:

• Scorecard of CAT/CMAT/KMAT (Mandatory)
• Passport-size photograph (Mandatory)
• Qualifying exam
• Non-Creamy layer certificate (for candidates who are claiming reservation under the OBC community)
• Certificate of sports and games/NCC/NSS
• Income Certificate (for candidates who are claiming reservation under economically backward among the forward community)
• Relevant documents for Experience or other qualification (Only for candidates having any other qualification or information/Experience)
• Medical certificate of disability issued by a Government Medical Board (Only for candidates with disability)
• Caste Certificate (if applicable)
• BPL Certificate (candidates who are claiming reservation under economically backward among the forward community)

MGU CAT 2025 application process is expected to start in February 2025 and end in May 2025. The MGU CAT application dates will be announced by MG University at its website for all courses. The application schedule may be extended and the new deadline will be announced by the university at its website.

MGU CAT 2025 admit card for all courses will be released most likely in the month of May 2025. Candidates will be required to download their admit cards from the exam website. To download the admit card, candidates will have to use the login credentials created at the time of exam registration.

Candidates must note that, hard copy of the MGU CAT admit card will not be sent to any candidate.

MA Politics & International Relations/Politics & Human Rights/Public Policy & Governance, MA Economics, MA Malayalam, MA in English, MA Gandhian Studies/Development Studies and MA History and Anthropology syllabus include subjects studied in undergraduate course. To clear MGU CAT, candidates must revise all the topics of their bachelor’s degree course.

The total course fee for MBA varies at MGU and its affiliated colleges. There are multiple components included in the course fee, such as tuition fee, security deposit, hostel fee, etc. Some of the fee components are one-time chargeable, while some have to be paid annually/semesterly. MGU MBA total tuition fee ranges between INR 35,000 and INR 7.1 lakh. This fee amount is taken from the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative.

Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala reserves seats for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/SEBC candidates. Additionally, it also has seats reserved under the Sports/Cultural/PD Quota as well. At the aided colleges, the seat bifurcation is as follows:

• Open quota seats: 50% in the case of aided/aided forward community Colleges and 40% in the case of aided backward Community Colleges
• For SC/ST candidates: 15% for SC and 5% for ST categories
• Community Merit Quota Seats: 10% in the case of aided/aided forward community Colleges and 20% in the case of aided backward Community Colleges

MEd syllabus for English/Hindi/Malayalam/Sanskrit/Arabic/Mathematics/Science/Social Science/Commerce/Computer Education include subjects studied in undergraduate course. To crack MGU CAT for MEd, candidates must ensure they are thorough with the subjects studied in graduation. Doing topic wise revision is suggested.

The minimum score requirement for selection to the MGU counselling round varies from course to course. The selection is actually based on rank list released during result. Apart from the written tests, weightage is given to personal interview. The weightage of MGU CAT is 80 percent and personal interview is 20 percent. Candidates need to score at least above 50 percent in the MGU CAT to be shortlisted.

Syllabus of MGU CAT MSc (Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Biophysics/Microbiology), MSc in Chemistry, MSc in Computer Science, MSc in Physics, MSc in Psychology, MSc in Environment Science and Disaster Management includes subjects studied in undergraduate course. Those applying for these courses need to prepare the subjects of their UG course for clearing MGU CAT.

Admission to MG University is based on cut offs. Candidates who appear for MGU CAT have to meet the minimum cut off score for their course group to be selected for counselling. The process is conducted in online mode. Candidates who meet the selection criteria for their course have to apply and submit documents for admission.

MGU CAT result is released at the official website. Candidates can check their result and download MGU CAT scorecard through login. Given below is the process to download MGU CAT result:

The minimum marks required to apply for MGU CAT exam varies between 50 to 60 per cent aggregate in graduation. For each course, the minimum score criteria is different.

MBA/PGDM, MSc, LLM, MA (Politics & International Relations/Politics & Human Rights/Public Policy & Governance), the minimum score requirement is 50 percent.

For MA Economics, MA in Malayalam, MA in English, MA (Gandhian Studies/Development Studies), MA (History and Anthropology) and M.Ed, the minimum score requirement is 45 percent.

It is not compulsory for MBA course aspirants to take the MGU CAT exam. As the university accept national-level exam scores as well, including CAT/CMAT/KMAT. Candidates applying with a national-level exam score are directly called for the personal interview round.

Admission to this PG-level course is through a Centralised Allotment Process (CAP). For selection, candidates have to take the MGU CAT exam, which is conducted in-house. Based on the candidates' score in the entrance examination, a selection list is released by the university. Candidates who make it to the list become eligible for participation in the counselling round. The seats are allotted after document verification during counselling.

Moreover, its affiliated colleges accept other entrance exam scores as well. The accepted exam list include CPGET/MAT/CAT/CMAT/KMAT Kerala/Kerala University Admission.

MGU CAT exam has 80 MCQs with four choices for each question. Each correct answer carries one mark and there is negative score for incorrect answers. The entrance exam duration is 90 minutes. MGU CAT application form is made available on the MGU and the entrance exam official websites. Candidates can visit the website to apply online. Details in the application form should be filled out carefully and as per the candidates official documents. Also, the application form must be submitted on or before the prescribed deadline.

The application fee of MGU CAT for General and Open All India quota candidates is INR 1,100 and for SC/ST candidates it is INR 550. The fee is to be paid online via debit/credit card or net banking. Candidates must note that fee payment in a mandatory step in form submission process. The MGU CAT form will not be accepted until the fee is paid. Applicants must also note that the fee is non-refundable.

Basic Requirements:

•  You must possess a Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 pattern of education) from a recognised university.
• The minimum percentage of marks required in your Bachelor's degree can vary depending on your background:
  • General Stream: Candidates from most disciplines in the Arts and Social Sciences stream typically require a minimum of 50% marks in their Bachelor's degree.
  • Science & Technology Background: If you come from a Science & Technology background, the minimum marks requirement might be higher, around 55%.

MGU CAT is an MCQ-based exam. Given below are the highlights MGU CAT pattern:

Candidates get seven electives (Each) in the third and fourth semester of the programme. There are multple electives offered under each specialisation. Mentioned below are some of the electives offered by MGU:

1. Consumer Behaviour
2. Retail Business Management
3. Insurance Services
4. Data Management System
5. Introduction to Business Analytics, etc.

All the courses included in the MGU MBA first and second semesters are core courses. In addition, there is a core course and internship in the third semester along with a core subject and problem centered study in the fourth semester. Hence, each of the semester has a course. 

There are eight subjects in the first semester of MGU MBA programme. Each subject has a credit of three attached to it. Mentioned below are the MG University MBA first semester subjects:

• Accounting and Costing for Managers
• Managerial Economics
• Managerial Communication
• Computer Applications in Business
• Legal Environment of Business
• Statistics for Management
• Environmental Management

The MBA entrance exam scores are valid for admission to MG University’s MBA courses are CAT, CMAT and KMAT. Candidates must have passed any one of these exams in the same academic year. They are not required to appear for MGU CAT and can directly participate in the personal assessment round – GD and PI.

After the MGU CAT exam is conducted and the result is announced, the university conducts a Centralised Admission Process (CAP) which includes PI or GD-PI. CAT qualifying candidates have to participate and clear the GD/PI round for their respective courses to be selected for admission. Thereafter the final merit list is prepared based on candidates’ overall performance. 

MGU CAT exam centres are located in five cities across Kerala. The centres are at Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Kochi, Kozhikode and Kannur. Candidates can opt a maximum of three centres on a preferential basis. However, the decision of allotment will be made by the MG University.

For admission to M.Tech programme offered by MG University, candidates must have valid GATE score. They must have passed GATE exam in the same academic year. Such candidates are not required to appear in MGU CAT exam and can directly seek admission by participating in the GD/PI round.
