The reality of NIT, Durgapur.

Placements: Pretty good in number but not that great in offering the package. Unfair placement policy. Once placed in a non-mass company, you can not sit in any other company regardless of your current CTC. The highest salary that was offered was 35 LPA to one student, and the lowest salary offered is 3.25 LPA. This year, the placements have been a lot better than the previous years. Even the commercial banks and JEE coaching institutes have recruited the people across all the departments. IOCL and BPCL hav...

NIT Durgapur: An institute of national negligence

Placements: The placements of our college were great when I was in the first year (2014) but then the statistics witnessed a drop as well as the average packages offered. There were no companies coming in to recruit interns except Microsoft and Amazon, who have continued to do so every year, offering a PPO of 21 LPA and 28 LPA respectively. The highest packages have always been offered to the students from CSE and IT branches. Also, their placements have been very good with companies like Directi, Amazon, M...

Dissatisfied with the infrastructure and placements.

Placements: Placements for mechanical engineering are moderate. Till now i.e March 2017, only 50 students out of 150 students were placed in the mechanical branch. So it is tough getting a company here. The highest salary offered for a core company was 14 LPA till now by BPCL. The lowest package was around 3.2 LPA. Companies like CGI, TATA Steel, TATA Motors, Volvo EIicher, Fleet Management, Mahindra and Mahindra, VOITH Papers, Fiat, Honda, Infosys, Vedanta, Weatherford and Visa Steel came. We haven't got ...

Worthless, no infrastructure and no opportunities.

Placements: In terms of placement, 68% students got placed in this department with most of them being hired in mass recruiters like TCS. No core company for biotechnology have visited the campus yet. Lowest salary offered was 3.6 LPA, which isn't much considering it to be a college of national importance. Internship offers are nil so. Even if you want to apply for an internship, you won't get any help.

Studies pressure is very high you should be very hard working or else you won’t be able to score good marks but yes, faculty members are really very helping, they will help you at any point of time. But there also scarcity of books in the central library and the limitation of books are only 5 per semester which is actually very difficult for students. Moreover if you think about money then definitely it really worth in comparison to other private colleges which charges huge amount of money and...

Though it is among one of the top ranked colleges in West Bengal as well as in India, its infrastructure is not so good. I believed that it is better than most of the state colleges (except: JU and same level as IIEST). There are only few good faculties in the department. Research environment is completely zero. No proper lab facility. Lack of software’s and hardware’s. Only thing one can get from this college is the hostel life. How to survive in and tackle bad situations, one can learn. At th...

During four years of my college life I am highly unsatisfied with the infrastructure and teaching standards. Only one facility is good in my college and that is the internet. And there is very poor quality of faculty in there. They only focus to complete the syllabus. The college authority is also not up to the mark.
