NIT Rourkela - In a simple language.
Placements: Placement statistics of my institute is very impressive, having more than 98% placement rate in my branch. Companies like Microsoft, LnT, TATA Steel, and Infosys recruit the students of this branch. Placements are like this: the highest is 21 LPA, the lowest is 4-5 LPA, and the average is 10 LPA. Internship is available from the 3rd year onwards.
Infrastructure: Institute has excellent infrastructure, including two buildings for Metallurgical and Materials. Classroom have one smart board and two projectors for better visibility. One room is for two students with two beds, two chairs, one study table, one fan, and a common shelf to keep their stuff. Washing machines are also available. Food quality of mess and canteen is all good. Proper medical facilities are available with Apollo pharmacy. For various sports and games, respective fields/grounds are here.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified from premier institutes of the world with outstanding teaching experience. They are very supportive and helpful towards students. Course curriculum is very much relevant for nowadays growing world. Difficulty level of semester exams, on a scale of 5, is 3.5. For passing in a semester, one should get 35 marks out of 100 in every subject in that particular semester.
Other: Our batch has 60 students from all over India and a few from outside India. Many fests, including Cosmopolitan (multi-ethnic fest), Innovision (tech fest), etc., are conducted every year full of extracurricular activities. Many clubs are formed for the development of skills of a student.

The best place to boost your career and personality.
Placements: Approximately 90% of our seniors are placed and others are doing startups. In higher studies, one of my seniors went to IITB to do an M.Tech. The highest package is 30 LPA in Forren only one student and our branch's package is approximately 10 LPA. The top recruiting companies are JSW and JINDAL. Very few students got internships; some are doing vocational training in RSP, and some are doing Research internships at IIT Bhubenshwar.
Infrastructure: The Department of Metallurgical and Material Engineering at NIT Rourkela is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure to support both academic and research activities. Laboratories are equipped with advanced tools like TEM, SEM, XRD, and specialized labs for power metallurgy, physical metallurgy, and corrosion (in this lab, I worked on one project, and it was an amazing experience). Modern classrooms with multimedia teaching aids are available.
Faculty: The faculty at NIT Rourkela's metallurgy department are highly qualified and they provide good theoretical knowledge. If someone thinks about non-core jobs, then the course curriculum is irrelevant. If you are planning for the core job, then we need some improvement in the curriculum. Semester exams are not very tough; if you are a little aware of your study, then you will secure a good CGPA.
Other: First, college is very good and second, if I want a core job, then I prefer this college. The course will improve their structure and practical knowledge. Fest is very good as compared to others, and there is a good vibe on campus. There are more than 60 clubs at this college so don't worry about extracurricular activities.

Tour of NIT Rourkela and you get to know all about it.
Placements: In my course, there is less placement because they are not eligible for many companies. But in core, we got many placement options. But then also many of our students get placed, like 60-70 percent of students get placed. And the highest package in my course is 35 lacs.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of my college is good, but in some parts it is very old, so it should be replaced or renovated, but work is in progress. The classrooms are good and well furnished, and all classes have smart classes. And the hostel rooms are also decent, and the food is also average. There are 4 main grounds for the sport, and there is a separate sports complex.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are very helpful, well qualified, and maximum qualified from these NITs and IITs, and they also have great teaching techniques. And the curriculum is also good; the students who pay attention can be industry-ready to face all the difficulties. The semester exams are moderate and are not difficult, I think. Every student passed the exam, but 2–5 percent did not.
Other: I have interest in this course, so I have chosen it. And the campus life is also good and excellent.

NITR student's life in a day.
Placements: Till January 2024, up to 75% of students are already placed in our branch, and the rest are also getting placed. Till now, the highest is 12 LPA, and the lowest is 6 LPA in our branch. The top recruiting company is JSW, and many students are also interning from our branch.
Infrastructure: In our college, there are two lecture avenues, each with 60 classrooms, and in the classrooms, LAN connections are available. Additionally, some labs are present in these lecture avenues. In the hostel, LAN connections are provided, but unfortunately, Wi-Fi is not available. However, you are allowed to install a router in your room.
Faculty: Yes, our faculties are Ph.D. qualified from IITs, and the teaching quality is excellent. They possess extensive knowledge, and the teaching quality is commendable. The semester exams consist of moderate-type questions that are derived from the lectures and also from the prescribed books.

Good for placement. Hostel facilities are good.
Placements: In this course, 90% of students get placed every year. The highest package this year was 80 lakhs per annum, and the average package was 15-20 lakhs per annum. The top companies that hire students from this course are JSW, Tata Steel, and Hindalco. About 50% of students get internships every year.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are good for study, but there are not enough classrooms to accommodate all the students. The hostel facilities are good, and the mess food is average. The hostel rooms are cleaned every day. The campus is good for cycling, and there is ample parking space.
Faculty: The teachers at this college are highly qualified and experienced, and they are available to help students at all times. The curriculum is excellent, and the exams are not difficult. In fact, the pass percentage is 99%. This year, a new curriculum was introduced for new students.
Other: Good campus placement. Good hostel campus but the food is available.
