The campus life of NIT Silchar is what makes it stand out from other colleges.
Placements: The placements on campus are producing amazing results every year. The branches like CSE and ECE have a 95%+ placement ratio. While core branches have a 90%+ placement ratio in the campus. The students become eligible for placements in the 7th semester. So overall placement is really good on the campus.
Infrastructure: I found the hostels are average. The rooms are decent, toilets are cleaned regularly, but the food quality in the 1st year's hostel (Aryabhata) is poor. Though it is quiet good in all other hostels. Apart from that, every room is provided with Ethernet facilities.
Faculty: Faculties are pretty good. I liked Prof. Chandrajit Choudhury of Basic Electronics the most because his interaction with the students is amazing. The marking scheme in the college is mid-sem (30) + end-sem(50) + minor test(10) + class interaction(10).

One of the best NITs in northeast with very beautiful campus.
Placements: In the electrical engineering department, more than 80% of students get placed. The highest package is 50+ LPA, and the average package is 12 LPA. Top recruiters are PSUs over Infosys and Microsoft. All students must do internships; it is in our curriculum. Most students preferred to do internships at PSU's.
Infrastructure: NIT Silchar has Asia's biggest digital library. So the availability of books is not an issue, both in online PDF format and in hard copies. Hostel facilities are pretty nice. For the first year, it's a double B.Ed. room; for the second year, it's a 3 B.Ed. room; and for the third year, it's a 3 B.Ed. room. For the fourth year, it's a single room. Canteens are available in all the hostels. Mess foods are not that good. Sports facilities are available in all the hostels.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified. Most of the teachers have their higher education from NIT's and IIT's. The course curriculum is well up-to-date for the current time. And teach the students everything about electrical branches. College exams are very difficult. Midterm and endterm exams are there.
Other: I chose this course because I always wanted to do engineering in a core branch. So I opted for electrical engineering. Exams should be less in college. Campus life is very good. We have many clubs and societies that keep the students engaged. We have the cultural festival Incandescence and the technical festival Tecnoesis.

Very disappoint, had expected more.
Placements: The placement of CS and ECE branches is good, but it's not the same case with the electrical and other branches. Placements for the electrical branch were at 35% in the 2023 pass out batch. This was stated by none other than the professor who manages CCC services at NITs. There seems to be a reason behind it that I can't disclose here; you might want to consult a senior studying at NITs for further details.
Infrastructure: There is no Wi-Fi available in my institute. A LAN connection is provided, but it functions improperly 50% of the time. Regarding cellular (mobile data), if you possess a 5G-capable device, you might be able to browse the internet; otherwise, it's important to note that using 100MB on a 4G handset will be challenging due to the speed. The quality of the mess food is extremely poor. Medical facilities are accessible 24/7, while sports and games are available 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. None of the colleges can rival the natural beauty and scenic views that our college offers; this is its sole positive aspect.
Faculty: I would again advise you to speak with someone studying at NIT Silchar. The teachers and faculty members there are truly knowledgeable. If you study consistently, you will surely pass. However, I can assure you that this rule may not apply to one or two subjects per semester.

The college journey in one review.
Placements: placement percent of EE department in NIT Silchar is 80–85 percent. The highest package is 52 LPA, Average package is 12.5 LPA, and the lowest is about 6 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Amazon, Google, Oil India, NTPC, Samsung, etc. About 50–55 percent got internships in different companies like Amazon, Samsung, Infosys, Oil India, NTPC, and many other core companies.
Infrastructure: The building of EE department is the oldest in NIT Silchar but the classrooms are quite good and provide digital classroom facilities from 2nd year onwards. NIT Silchar has the largest digital library in India. quality of the food is moderate enough to keep it alive. There are many canteens on campus that provide good-quality food and other items. The medical nursery is there, with 24*7 ambulance facilities. Sports like badminton, cricket, football, table tennis, basketball, and Kabaddi are there with all the equipment.
Faculty: Professors in the EE department are knowledgeable, provide quality education, and try to focus on practical knowledge. After the course, students gained a good knowledge of core subjects. Semester exam are moderate-to-hard. pass percentage of students is 85–90 percent .
Other: The Electrical Department of NIT Silchar is the oldest among all NITS. The professors here have good knowledge and are helpful. Classrooms for first-year students should be renewed with digital classrooms. Cultural festival: incandescene. Technical Fest: Technosis. Campus strength is about 3600 students. The campus environment is quite good, with greenery everywhere. College provide different scholarship to students, like the Reliance scholarship, FAEA Scholarship, etc.

Review of NIT Silchar College.
Placements: In NIT Silchar, placement opportunities are decent. This year, the average placement offered in electrical engineering was around 12 LPA CTC, and the highest package offered was around 52 LPA. Companies like Amazon, Paytm, HCl, Byju's, Microsoft, etc. This college is good for the IT sector and decent for core branches in terms of placement.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not so good in NIT Silchar. Some newly made buildings like New Gallery, Library, and the admin building are good, including some newly made hostels like Aryabhatta (for 1st years) and BH9. But most of the infrastructure is outdated as NIT Silchar is an old institute started from 1967.
Faculty: Faculty are not so good, especially in my branch electrical engineering. But some faculty members of other branches are good and friendly. Curriculum is good, it's not too hectic. In exam time, you may feel pressure due to a lot of exams like mid-sem, minor test, endsem, assignments, etc.

Students also asked

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.
