    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Is B.E./B.Tech at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Ludhiana worth the investment?

Here's what students and alumni have to say:

    Pros:

    * Excellent Infrastructure: The university has a huge campus with good facilities, including Wi-Fi, libraries, laboratories, and sports infrastructure.
    * Cooperative Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable in their subjects.
    * Relevant Curriculum: The course curriculum is designed well, providing a balance between theory and practical knowledge.
    * Placements: Although limited, some students have secured placements with reputed companies like John Deere, Mahindra, Tafe, and Amul.
    * Scholarship Opportunities: Scholarships are available to students from rural backgrounds and reserved categories.
    * Events and Cultural Programs: The university organizes various events and cultural programs to engage students.

    Cons:

    * Limited Placements: Only a small proportion of students secure placements, mostly in the farm sector.
    * High Fee Structure: The course is relatively expensive, with fees exceeding INR1 Lacs per semester.
    * Challenges in Job Placement: Finding a job related to the study is challenging.

Q:   How are B.Tech placements at Punjab Agricultural University?

    A:

Q:   How effective is the placement cell for B.E. / B.Tech courses at Punjab Agricultural University?

    A:

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for B.E./B.Tech Courses at Punjab Agricultural University

Based on the feedback from students and alumni, here's an overview of the effectiveness of the placement cell for B.E./B.Tech courses at Punjab Agricultural University:

    * Limited Job Opportunities: Unfortunately, the university doesn't provide placements to students in food technology, making it challenging for students to secure jobs. This is attributed to the high cost of the program, with tuition fees exceeding INR1 Lacs per semester.

    * No Coach for Cricket: While the university offers good infrastructure and facilities, there is a lack of coaches for certain sports, including cricket.

    * Poor Placement Record: The limited job opportunities suggest that the placement cell may not be particularly effective in securing employment for graduating students.

It appears that while the university excels in terms of infrastructure and faculty, the placement cell requires improvement to better serve students' career aspirations.

Placements: Most of the students from our college get placements in their final year or even after that. The average package offered is about 3 to 4 lakhs per annum. Major companies like Nestle, Verka, and Amul recruit students from PAU for internship opportunities as well as job offers. The workplace quality of the internship and job is very good and promises a good salary as well.
Infrastructure: Our classrooms are clean and well maintained. Most rooms on the premises are air-conditioned and well furnished. We are provided with a 24-hour library facility. We can study for the whole night as well in time of exams. The library is air conditioned as well. We have various departments for each subject for the practical knowledge about the particular subject. Our hostels are clean and fully furnished. We are provided a bed, an almirah, a study table and a chair. Washrooms are common on each floor. They are regularly cleaned and are in good condition.
Faculty: Our teachers are friendly, motivating, and very helpful in our studies. They regularly motivate us to study and remain focused in our college life. Most of our teachers are Msc. graduates or are Phd holders. Their method of teaching is very good and they make concepts easy to grasp. The exams are of moderate to hard level. Questions are of good quality and test students knowledge about the subject.
Other: We have regular events and various festivals at our college to help students engage in social activities.

B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering - Batch of 2024
    4.4

One of the best agriculture engineering colleges in India with really good placements.
Placements: 20–25 students out of 70 were placed and the rest of them wanted to go for further studies at IIT Kharagpur, a few wanted to do an MBA; and some of the students in our batch wanted to go to America on scholarships to do a Masters. The top recuring companies are John Deere, Mahindra, Tafe, and Amul .
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is satisfactory and hostels are also okay, as all the hostels in government universities are same but mess is really good; non-vegetarians are served 3 days in mess and the average mess bill is around 4-5k per person if he eats regularly. Classrooms are not provided with ACs.
Faculty: Exams are a little bit difficult and 75% attendance is compulsory. And the minimum passing mark required is 50% for every exam. If we fail in any subject, then next year we have to pick that subject again. And there are certain restrictions on picking up the subjects again .
Other: In B.Tech. Agri., we study subjects like civil, mechanical, computer, farm power and machinery, post-harvest food engineering, and soil and water engineering. It is a really good degree for someone who has a keen interest in agriculture.

Good infrastructure , good mess food , good sports facilities, reasonable hostels
Placements: Placements are good and generally all students land a job in some company. Avg package is of 8 lakhs. The lowest salary paclage goes to 1- 2 lpa and it is not easy to land a job in this field . Everyone needs to land an internship on the basis of their own efforts and connections.
Infrastructure: Hostels are available at very reasonable rates and living conditions are pretty good to the hostel charges . The food in the mess/cafeteria is very good . All types of sports and games are avaliable and encouraged by the college. Wifi is not avilab and washrooms are ok mediocre cleanliness level.
Faculty: Teachers are supportive and good but if you get on their bad side they won't let you catch a breath for your whole course. Exams are of moderate difficulty .If you study from the start and are upto date with your curiculumn you can do pretty good .
Other: Theor are many mela held throughout the tenure but not much of a fest or party culture.

Our college provides good infrastructure but placements are not good.
Placements: There are no placements in our course. Few streams provide campus placements. The training is always on-campus for biotechnology students.
Infrastructure: The food served in the hostel is good. Hostel rooms need renovation as there is various issue that needs to be tackled. Laboratory is well-furnished, and it has all the required equipment.
Faculty: Faculty members are cooperative and knowledgeable. Our course curriculum is designed well, and the semester exams are not very easy, they to test the caliber of students. The pass percentage is 5-6 CGPA.
Other: The social network is vast in our college. We can come across various renowned personalities that can help us to excel better in future. Everyone is supportive, and our campus is well-designed. There are many extracurricular activities for students.

Satisfied because of good faculty members, good environment, and average placement.
Placements: Almost 25% of students were placed, with an average package of 4 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Escort Tractor, Amul, etc. Most people prefer higher studies to light up their careers. You mainly study soil and water, irrigation system, food& processing engineering, and farm machinery and equipment.
Infrastructure: Wi-fi is available everywhere on campus. Labs are good. Classrooms are also good. The library is perfect for self-studying, 24*7 facilities are provided in the reading hall. The main library hall is open from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 9 pm, all facilities are provided here.
Faculty: The semester exam at PAU is more difficult than in other colleges. It has three phases of exam - hourly, mid-term, and end-term. If you want to copy then you to do hard work and smart work and keep in touch with professors. Maximum OCPA - 8.30, average OCPA- 7.00.

Everything about the College of Agricultural Engineering and PAU is positive.
Placements: Placements are really good here. If you have scored a good CGPA or even less, they will provide you placements if you don't want to continue your studies further. About 35 students get placed every year among 80 because others continue their studies in M.Tech.
Infrastructure: The hostels are really not good, but the mess food is awesome. Classes are good, but in summer they are exhausting because they don’t have AC in the classrooms. Otherwise, there is a problem of leakage in some classes. Some creativity is also shown in the classrooms as the infrastructure is unique.
Faculty: Exams are taken three times in a semester: hourly, mid, and final. The final exams are the toughest; the others are easy to pass. Teachers are good and helpful; they have a lot of experience, and their way of teaching is good. The seniors are also very helpful, and there is no ragging in the whole PAU.
Other: You will get a lot of opportunities here in every field. In whichever area you are good, you can participate very easily. It is a very open environment here, and every five students are provided with one advisor to help with any problems they may have.
