RV University was formed quite recently in 2019. However, the sponsoring trust has had more than 80 years of experience in higher education. It is spread over 50 acres of greenery near a metro station of Bangalore purple lion called Pattangere. The university offers more than 30 different courses at undergraduate level and more than 15 post graduation courses along with facilities to do doctoral research on many topics. All of these undergraduate and postgraduate courses are distributed amongst 9 different schools that the University has formed for better administration. Among the different courses offered, there are many courses which are interdisciplinary and staff from more than one school are required to teach in these courses. 

The college itself claims that its BTech in Computer Sciences and MA are flagship courses. However, from the perspective of a student this is of no relevance. This is so because a student who wants to pursue his education in liberal studies will not be interested in engineering graduation and of course vice versa.
