Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed-to-be University is one of the most promising private academic institutions providing Technical & Professional Education located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

KIIT offers Engineering in Civil, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Telecommunications, Electronics & Electrical, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Computer Science, Electronics & Control Systems, Mechanical, Automobile, Aerospace, Mechatronics, Production, Communication, Electrical, Chemical Technology, Biotechnology. All branches are good & it totally depends on the inclination of the student towards any branch or subject. 

The number of seats varies from branch to branch and year to year at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology. In total there are approximately 3000 seats including all the streams of engineering. 

One of the best things about KIIT is that they give separate sessions for aptitude, group discussions & personal interviews for the graduating batch. The companies start visiting KIIT in the month of June itself. The scenario is much better for IT branches as compared to core branches. In IT branches most of the students get placed by December. For the 2022 graduating batch the major recruiters were Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini & Wipro, which generated close to 2000 job offers on Day 1 only. The highest CTC offered was INR 52 lakhs per annum by YugaByte Software (P) Limited. The other companies include HSBC Technology, Bain & Company, Deloitte, Dell Technologies, Mu Sigma, Ernst & Young, TATA Advanced Systems Ltd, Wipro, ZS Associates, etc. Apart from the placements, KIIT also helps its students to pursue higher studies in reputed Indian & foreign institutions or to help with entrepreneurial endeavours.

Major specialisation at KIIT - Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology are Acting, English, Civil Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Rural Management, Public Policy.

For all the engineering branches, the fee is INR 1,75,000  per semester. In addition to this INR 75,000 is to be paid (one-time) at the time of admission towards Counselling, Registration, Admission kit and laptop. The examination fee of INR 1,000 and the registration fee of INR 1,000 need to be deposited every semester.

Apart from engineering, the following are the best courses that one can pursue at KIIT. 

1. MBA

KIIT offers a two-year full-time residential MBA program at the KIIT School of Management (KSOM). An offer letter for admission clearly mentions that all those who want to pursue MBA will have to opt for hostel facilities. As per government rankings, KSOM’s MBA program is ranked 31st in B-Schools. For the academic year 2022-23, KSOM charges a fee of INR 14.5 Lakh, which includes tuition fee, AC hostel, mess, development & administration fee, laptop, books, study material, etc. The fee needs to be paid in four instalments of INR 3,37,500 each and an admission fee of INR 1 Lakh at the beginning of the admission. If you want to avail the facilities of a premium hostel you will have to pay an additional amount of INR 10,000 per semester over & above the mentioned fee. Last year, KSOM started a Super MBA specialised programs in Business Analytics, Healthcare Management, Supply Chain Management & Construction Management, apart from normal specialisations which include MBA in Business Analytics, Marketing, Finance, HR & Operations. The placements are best for marketing students and are generally completed early as compared to other branches. For the academic session 2020-21, more than 80 recruiters hired candidates from KSOM and the average salary was INR 7.33 LPA.

2. BBA

The BBA program of KIIT has been ranked second in India as per Times B-school ranking 2020 and one of the best places to pursue graduation. It is a three-year program with 12 major exams & 108 credits in total with specialisations in Human Resource Management, Accounting & Finance Management, Marketing Management, Operations & International Business. The fee structure for the BBA course is as follows-

Fee per semester: INR 1,17,000 (total six semesters)

Hostel fees:

One time – INR 15,000

Single bed AC hostel – INR 65,000 (Per semester)

Double sharing AC hostel – INR 50,000 (Per semester)

Triple sharing AC hostel – INR 40,000 (Per semester)

Double sharing Non-AC hostel – INR 21,000 (Per semester)

Triple sharing Non-AC hostel - INR 21,000 (Per semester)

In addition to this, INR 75,000 is to be paid at the time of admission for counselling, laptop, registration, etc. And mess fee is charged semester-wise and it may vary from INR 20,000 to INR 25,000 per semester.

3. Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

Admission into KIMS (Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences) is only through NEET and the course duration is 4.5 years. The academic fee of the MBBS program is close to INR 16 LPA, a one-time admission fee of INR 75,000 for registration, laptop, etc. and INR 15,000 for hostel accommodation. KIMS provide a double-sharing AC hostel for INR 1.40 LPA excluding the mess fee. It has been ranked among the top 50 medical colleges in the country by NIRF ranking. The pass-outs from the institute are spread in one of the best & prestigious healthcare establishments across the country such as  AIIMS Rishikesh, CMC Vellore, AIIMS Bhubaneswar and AIIMS Jodhpur etc and in international institutes like the Department of Public Health, University of London, University of Nottingham, UK.

4. Bachelor of Architecture (BArch)

KIIT School of Architecture & Planning offers a BArch program of five years and the admission is through KIITEE with a valid NATA score or valid JEE score. The total number of seats is limited to 40. The school has collaborations with Dalmia Cement, academic exchange and research collaboration with Texas Tech University, USA and University of Pecs, Hungary. The university charges INR 1,75,000 per semester and a one-time fee of INR 75,000 for laptops, counselling, registration, etc.

5. Bachelor of Design (BDes)

The KIIT School of Fashion Technology was started in the year 2009. BDes is an undergraduate course of four years and the admission is through KIITEE. The eligibility criterion is that a student must have scored an aggregate of 60% marks in regular full-time education from a recognized school. The total number of seats is 40. Students take their two months mandatory internship program after their fourth, sixth & seventh semesters in reputed retail organisations. The school charges INR 80,000 per semester and a one-time fee of INR 75,000 for laptops, counselling, registration, etc.
