April 25, 2020: The results for odd semesters are out now. Candidates can visit the official website of the University to check results.

University of Petroleum and Energy Studies also known as UPES has released the odd-semester results for UG and PG courses. The University offers courses in various streams such as Management, Technology, Pharmacy, Science and many more. These courses are offered under eight different departments of Law, Design, Engineering, Computer Science and many more.

The University follows a semester pattern for all UG and PG courses. Exam for odd semesters conducted in the month of November/ December whereas, exam for even semesters conducted in the month of May/ June.

The results for odd semester exams were declared on the official website of University. Candidates need to click on the desired subject to view results.

UPES Results 2020

UPES semester results for UG and PG courses including BBA, BA, BCA, BSc, BTech, BCom, MBA, MA and MSc were announced on the official website of the University. Appeared students can check the results by following the below-mentioned steps:

2. Click on the desired subject to view results

UPES Evaluation Process 2020

The evaluation of the exam is based on end-term examination, assignments and mid-semester examination. The University conducts an end-term examination for each subject at the end of the semester.

UPES follow an instructor-led evaluation system. The components of evaluation for UG and PG programmes are as follows:

The award sheet for each subject will be based on the strength of the batch. If the batch size is up to 30, the grading will be based on an  Absolute Grading System, as given below:

On the basis of grades, GPA, SGPA and CGPA will be calculated. Students in all UG programmes need to maintain a GPA, SGPA AND CGP of 5.0 out of 10.0. For these students, the minimum qualifying grade will be ‘C’ or equivalent to ‘4.0’.

Similarly, students in all PG programmes need to maintain a GPA, SGPA AND CGP of 6.0 out of 10.0. For these students, the minimum qualifying grade will be ‘C’ or equivalent to ‘4.0’.

The performance of the candidates is evaluated in terms of Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) which is an average grade point for a semester and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) which is the average grade point for all semesters.

Note: For students who do not meet the individual course passing criteria or SGPA qualification criteria, on their grade card it will be mentioned as criteria not met / NC.

UPES Improvement Examination 2020

The University conducts improvement examination also known as supplementary examination for students to help students to clear the course or improve upon their grades. Criteria for supplementary examination is given below:

  • Students who have missed the end semester examination or fail to meet the minimum qualifying SGPA or fail to qualify in or more courses are eligible to apply for supplementary exam
  • Students debarred from end semester examination because of the shortfall of attendance can also apply for supplementary examination
  • Students who desirous to improve the grade of individual course(s) or overall SGPA
  • Supplementary exam will be permitted only in such courses where the grade is below ‘A’
  • No supplementary exams will be held for mid-semester/ internal assessment
  • After the supplementary exam, best of two grades secured by the students will be retained
