City College - The heart of Amherst Street

Placements: There are a total of 28 students in the batch of zoology Honors. There is no package of course. Basically some companies visits once for recruitment but that too just for the position such as sales agent. Internship is available but that is a part of the curriculum and no stipend is provided for that.

Infrastructure: The college has a huge library and on top of that each department has their own departmental library. Labs are not well maintained or established and no wifi facility is available, classrooms are ok. The canteen provides food at reasonable prices, medical facilities are not available.

Faculty: The teacher are really very supportive and helpful regarding studies. They provides quality notes and explains a topic quite well. The curriculum is very relevant as it will help in future to get jobs in many sectors such as forest service, zoo services, marine biologist, forensic sciences and aquaculture. The exams are difficult to pass .The passing percentage is 34.

Other: This course provides opportunities in diverse fields such as forest service, zoo services, marine biologist and forensic science. The college lacks cleanliness and hygiene along with that lift is absent which becomes a problem for climbing 4th floor. A lot of events and co curricular activities such as debate, quiz and inter college tournament are hosted every year and every year Sangrila is hosted for 5 days in the month of October.

The college has very good infrastructure and facilities.

Placements: Many students have their placements. The minimum salary offered is Rs. 30,000 per month. Students can easily go for the teaching line and also in various government jobs. In this course, we did not get an offer from companies, but we can apply in various fields of jobs, mostly in the Bio-Science scenario. Besides that, we can easily opt for any forest service exams and environmental programs.

Infrastructure: Facilities provided to us are very good. Classrooms are clean and hygienic. The department is very helpful to us. Labs are very good, and we are very much comfortable with our lab works, practical as teachers help us very well. Our college doesn't provide a hostel. We had a hostel beside our college, but now it is broken.

Faculty: Teachers of our subjects are very helpful, and they are very frank and friendly to us. Teachers and assistants are very helpful. All of them are well-qualified and have many degrees, and some of them are associated with research work. Some students are doing their research work under our HOD and the senior-most madam as they had much experience and degrees. The course curriculum is highly relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. It also makes awareness to the students and people.

Other: I have chosen this course because I like animals very much, and I want to know more about the animal kingdom. I want to know about their habit and habitats. If audio-visual classes are provided, and more fieldwork will be added to the course, then it will improve more. Our college has one of the biggest fests in Kolkata. Surroundings are very clear, and our college conducts extracurricular activities like sports, quiz competition, seminars, etc. I don't know much about the scholarship.

Review of City College, Kolkata.

Placements: Placements in our college are one of the best in India. This year, the top placement was from mathematics computing, and it was about 1.38 crore per annum. Moreover, the average placements of CSE are good, and it is around 25 LPA. The average salary package offered by the MNC is 19 LPA. For the electronics students, the salary package offered is around 14-15 LPA. The lowest salary package goes around 9-10 LPA.

Infrastructure: Regarding infrastructure, it's not what you usually expect from this college because of many reasons. It has been one of the oldest universities and has an open campus, so the things are like that. However, if you come here, you will enjoy the vast campus life. Facilities provided here are better.

Faculty: Faculty members in our college are the best, and nothing less than what you expect. The course curriculum is manageable and easy-going, so you will find it fun studying in the college. We don't have to write the whole practical file, and it's just a log sheet. Moreover, the papers are not external as everything is evaluated within the college by our professors. Moreover, they are shown after checking just like the school (college).
