Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria to get admission in COEP for B.Tech?

A:

COEP Technological University (Formerly known as COEP) mainly intake admission through MHT-CET. The eligibility criteria laid down by MHT-CET for BTech is that the candidate should have passed class 12 or SSC or Diploma in Engineering with a minimum of 45% aggregate.

COEP also inducts students through JEE-Main, for which additionally 25% of seats are reserved for All India Candidates (apart from Maharashtra domicile candidates), and there is no minimum percentage in class 12 required to take the JEE-Main entrance exam.

Q:   What is the last date to apply for BTech in COEP 2023?

A:

The College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) enroll candidates in its BTech course mainly through MHT-CET and JEE-Main. Registration for MHT-CET usually starts in March and concludes in April. Candidates willing to take admission to the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) must take this entrance exam because the college mainly inducts candidates to its BTech course based on students performance in MHT-CET.

Q:   Which is better NIT & COEP, Pune for Computer Engineering?

A:

National Institute of Technology (NITs) are most prestigious engineering college after Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The standard of education is very high in NITs because students that help students in developing in inculcating various technical as well as theoretical skills required to be a top class engineer. Also, the computer engineering department of NIT is very well-equipped with top faculty members and different coding clubs, which helps computer Science students become very well versed with the latest technologies required by the IT or software industry. Besides the quality of education, placement records are record-breaking.

Although COEP is also a top government engineering college that has become an autonomous university with a good education quality and placement, it can’t be compared with NIT in any parameters.

Hence, NIT is better than COEP, Pune, for candidates willing to take admission in the Computer Engineering branch.

Q:   Does COEP accept JEE Mains scores for admission in BTech?

A:

Yes, the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) accepts the scorecard of JEE-Main. But most seats are sanctioned for Maharashtra domicile students and are filled through MHT-CET. COEP Review by a Final Year student.
Placements: Most of the computer engineering students are placed in some of the finest companies in India. The majority of the students get a pre-placement offer (PPO), and the remaining population applies for jobs in the final year. The highest package is about 52 lakhs, and the average is about 15 lakhs. About 70 percent of the students secured an internship offer in their pre-final year of college. The majority of roles offered were as program associates and software developers. Some of the top recruiting companies are DE Shaw, Arcesium, Wells Fargo, Hilti, Deutsche Bank, Mastercard, and Citi.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are pretty good. Some of the departments don't have their own buildings and also lack some lab infrastructure. The Wi-Fi throughout the campus is terrible. The library is good and has a lot of facilities and journals. The mess food is the finest there can be; you'll surely love it. It is hygienic. The Meta canteen food is good, but the BCC canteen food is terrible.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are quite helpful and are really qualified and knowledgeable, but some of the new faculty members lack knowledge and are not that supportive. Most of the course curriculum is relevant, but they surely need to upgrade it to make students more industry-ready. Semester exams are quite manageable. You need to score above 40 to be safe, out of 100, in all the subjects.
Other: I had an interest in computer engineering, so I decided to opt for this course. Lab activities can be improved for the students. There are a lot of events going on throughout the year. There are 5 major fests conducted throughout the year. The campus is well connected.

Really good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: I'm from Computer Engineering Department passing in 2026. Nearly about 88% placement. The highest package offered is 52 LPA. Many top companies like PhonePe, Mastercard, Microsoft, Patterns, and JP Morgan visit the campus. Mostly all students get internships; assistant software engineer and data analytics roles are offered.
Infrastructure: Classroom is good, Wi-Fi sometimes doesn't work, hostel is much better, and food quality is best. Sports and games are played on a huge level. The canteen is also very good compared to other colleges. The library is very good; it has all books available. Hostel area is very good.
Faculty: Teachers are knowledgeable, and teaching scheme is also good. Yes, course curriculum is relevant. Yes, it is difficult. Teachers are helpful, but not everything is taught; some are a little rude. Labs are not taken regularly, and new staff don't take much interest.
Other: B.Tech in Computer Engineering is the most demanding course in today's era. Scholarships are provided by college itself, excellent fests, and extracurricular activities.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of the faculty, but placements are good.
Placements: The placements are really good for the computer branch, where about 90% got placed this year with an average package of 16 LPA and the highest around 54 LPA. The top recruiters are Tata Phonepe, etc. The roles offered are like data scientist, analyst, web developer, software developer, etc. The placements are just good enough for computer students only, as the placements for other branches are very low compared to these.
Infrastructure: All the things like Wi-Fi labs, classrooms, and libraries are available for our department, but sometimes the Wi-Fi doesn't even work. The food in our mess is good, i.e., 8/10, and there are also medical facilities available with a big playground available for outdoor games.
Faculty: The faculty members are well qualified, but all the faculty members think they are the best, and there is no competition for them. Also, the semester is not very tough. The teachers now, as the university has become a university, don't have any limits on the syllabus they want to keep, so no extra knowledge is gained by the students.
Other: The events at this college are the best thing you should watch out for.

Review of College of Engineering, Pune.
Placements: For the computer science course last year, 88% of students were placed with an average of 19 LPA and a median of 15 LPA. The highest package received was 55 LPA. The top recruiting company is TCS. The college provides internship offers for students after completing their 2nd year. The roles in my course are web development, creating apps, and other software-related jobs.
Infrastructure: The college campus is huge. The infrastructure of college buildings is of old British style, made of stone. There are different buildings for different departments. There is a library in each department as well as a central library with a large number of books. The hostel campus is large too. There are different blocks for different years. In each room, 4 students can be accommodated. Rooms have 2 bunk beds and almirahs. The mess is good; it provides a meal for 40. There is college ground in front of the hostel.
Faculty: The teachers are experienced and supportive. They are very knowledgeable, so they teach very well. For the first year, mostly subjects are common for all the students, but from the second year, courses become more specialized according to the branch of the students. It helps a lot to make students job-ready. There are two exams each semester. Difficult level is medium. Pass percentage depends on the average marks of the class.
Other: I always had an interest in electronic gadgets, so I wanted to pursue computer engineering. The best thing about my course is that it is totally based on computers, which are said to develop more in the future, so there will be more options in the future. I would like if college would take a step in making the course more practical instead of theoretical. There is always some fest going on in college, as there are more than 50 clubs in the college.

Exceptional Faculty, Outstanding Placement Opportunities, and State-Of-The-Art Facilities.
Placements: Nearly 80 percent of students from the 2024 batch have been placed. This year, the highest package offered is 52 LPA, while the lowest is 6 LPA, with an average package around 17 LPA. Top companies include DESHAW and Co., MasterCard, Deutsche Bank, and BNY Mellon, with most roles being for software development engineers.
Infrastructure: The hostel campus is spacious and well-equipped, providing free access to LAN and Wi-Fi. The mess food is of good quality, and the canteen area is also excellent. The hostel offers free medical facilities and has a large field for sports.
Faculty: The teachers at COEP are highly supportive and exceptionally well-qualified. Their teaching quality is commendable. The course curriculum is highly relevant to engineering practices, ensuring students are industry-ready. Exams are moderately to highly challenging.
Other: I chose this college because it is one of the best in Maharashtra through MHT CET. However, the overall culture could be improved.
