On Admissions

Q:   Does Gargi College accept CUET score?

A:

Gargi College, affiliated with Delhi University, offers a diverse array of undergraduate programs spanning Science, Humanities, and Commerce. The ongoing admission process for these UG courses entails participation in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), a standardized examination facilitated by Delhi University. Additionally, prospective students must complete the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) application form, specifying their preferences for both course and college.

Eligibility criteria for CUET, along with the required subjects, differ depending on the chosen course. Comprehensive details regarding course-specific eligibility criteria and subject prerequisites can be accessed on the official platform. Typically, a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in the 12th board examination is necessary for eligibility, though certain courses may mandate higher marks in specific subjects.

The cutoff marks for Gargi College admissions are shaped by factors such as seat availability, the number of applicants, and the level of difficulty in CUET. While previous year cutoffs provide useful reference points, it's crucial to acknowledge that current year cutoffs might diverge.

In essence, securing admission to Gargi College involves clearing the CUET exam and meeting the specific cutoff marks for the desired course. Achieving a 70% score in the class 12th examination alone may not secure admission, emphasizing the importance of a robust performance in CUET, especially for courses with more competitive cutoffs. Wishing you the best of luck in your admission journey!

Gargi College: The safest place.
Placements: One should maintain more than 7 CGPA to get placed from our college. The college does provide internships regularly and placements after college. Various recruiting companies such as Boston Consulting Group, and Brain and Company visit for placements. The highest salary package of last year touched the range of 23 LPA.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the department is really cool and aesthetic made up of the iconic red walls. Our English Department has its own library which is separate from campus Library. Classrooms are spacious and nice. Our college doesn't provide the facility of hostel but there are various PGs nearby for the service.
Faculty: Faculty members of our department are great with good experience. They are compassionate towards students which makes it easier to ask doubts and give opinions freely. Teachers are also very understanding and accepting of students. Semester exam I gave this year was easy. Passing criteria is 40%.
Other: I have chosen English literature for my undergraduate degree. It is a vast course, which includes plays, poetry, and novels of different genres, regions, and timelines. These help students to build better cognitive thinking skills and deep analysis of the text. English department has to study various text, so one must have good close reading skills for analysis. I wish we could do those plays which we read. Events are filled with fun and livelyness. There are various talented societies which makes it even more fun.

I'm satisfied with my college. It's very nice, placement is very good and faculty members are good.
Placements: Placement is very good there are a lot of companies that visit to recruit students. Our college placement rate is so good that 50% of students get internships. There are many roles offered in our course like teaching or language translation and many more.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very good in our college. There are 3 blocks which are divided between arts, commerce, and science students. In our college, there is a new building opening which is so good. The quality of the food is good. In our college backside, there is a ground.
Faculty: Faculty members of our college are very good. We are students of the 2024 batch. We come under the new education policy. We have 6 subjects, which include one general elective, one skill enhancement course, one value addition course, and three core subjects.
Other: I opted for English honors to hone my skills, improve my command of the language, and develop my speaking abilities. I was also keen to explore and gain a deeper understanding of literature.

The teachers are very helpful and supportive. The exams difficulty is moderate.
Placements: The college placements are very good for my course. The average package is around INR 5 lakh. The college offers good, decent, or average placements. The placement rate is good. A lot of companies come for hiring. Some of them are Deloitte, Wipro, EY, GDS, KPMG India, Evalueserve, and S&P.
Infrastructure: The college has really good infrastructure. However, the office staff can be improved. There is no hostel at the college. The security is average. The food is fine and there are a variety of options for the food. The medical staff could be improved .
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and supportive. The teachers are knowledgeable. The teaching qualities are good too. The exams are moderately average. The passing percentage is 40% in the practical and 40% in the written exam .

The Gargi College: Really good crowd and supportive classmates and faculty members.
Placements: There has been no placement from our batchmates because we are in the 1st year, and usually, the college doesn't take students from 1st year. The highest package in my course depends on the factors, but the highest is 7.8 Lacs per annum, and the average is 4 Lacs.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. The buildings are interconnected with each other, and there are many departments, such as the English department, Psychology department, etc. There is a department for each course. There is no Wi-Fi in our college for the students, but yes, there are labs, classrooms, and a library, which are quite good but very small. There is no hostel in the college, and there is no variety of food.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, and some of the teachers are Ph.D. holders, while many of them are pursuing their Ph.D. The semester exams are moderate in level. If you have the ability for critical thinking, you can easily pass them. 1 DSC is of 160 marks, with 90 marks for the theoretical exam, and the rest is for internals. The passing mark is 33% out of 160.
Other: The college is good and very peaceful. There's no fight or argument ever done in the college. The environment is good, and there are many trees that provide greenery. The seniors are very helpful and support us, trying to help us until we are comfortable with the college environment.

Gargi: One of the top girls' colleges of DU.
Placements: This is one of the top courses of the college with average to good placement records over the years, with packages starting from 6 LPA onwards. Moreover, the placement cell is really active in bringing in internships. The most common roles are psychiatry in clinics, forensic sectors, etc.
Infrastructure: Hostels facility isn't available here. Apart from this, classrooms are pretty good, conducted in LTs or lecture theatres, which are quite spacious with AC facilities and projectors. The canteen food is average at the moment. Also, free Wi-Fi is available, though there's network issues in the campus most often.
Faculty: The professors are really good, benevolent, highly knowledgeable, and well-versed in their respective subjects and fields. The curriculum includes viva, presentations, group projects, and the theory component. The exams are of moderate to difficult level, and this course provides a unique opportunity for not just bookish academics but a real outlook on life.
Other: I have opted for this course as I liked it, of course, and Gargi is one of the best colleges out of the very few DU colleges providing this course. The crowd is really good and diverse. Fests are a bliss, starting from freshers with a theme to the annual fest 'Reverie,' one of the best in DU, and celebration of all the events throughout the year with vibrant decor. The campus life is nice, for sure.

Pehle istemaal kare, phir vishwas kare.
Placements: No recruiting companies for my course, students applied for off campus internship, no career guidance as such. I don't really know what to say, nothing is there in terms of placement. At gargi, they prepare you for real world problems like dealing with people and politics .
Infrastructure: Library was miniature compared to the college strength. Most of the times we SAT on floors Canteen was the best thing about Gargi! Good food at reasonable rates! However they can expand their menu. I loved Nescafe with all my soul! Had the best hangout there!
Faculty: Mostly teachers were helpful, there are exceptions particularly the one who taught us Neuroscience. Semester exams were hectic! But we managed it! DU taught me smart work. The course curriculum was good, detailed and informative however it did not make us industry ready. I feel they could improve their lab facilities and lay more emphasis on practical knowledge instead of rot learning.
