A good institute for study and research.
Placements: You can get placed directly in the ISRO organization in IIST after completing your course. Criteria required by ISRO organization to recruit the IIST students. 1. You have to attain a CGPA greater than 7.5 at the end of your course. 2. Maintain the proper discipline throughout the college year; you are going to be placed in a country space organization at the end of your college life, so for that you have to make yourself better to that extent. Information regarding placement. 1. There are 75 seats in our batch (aerospace); from the seniors and the data I got, more than 40 students were able to get the ISRO job by the ISRO organization. 2. For ECE and engineering students, the number is about the same extent. 3. Companies that were visited in previous years other than ISRO: Agnikul Cosmos, TATA Consultancy Service, TATA Elxsi, Artificial Brain, Mercedes Benz, Infosys, and many more. About the package offered: 1. The highest salary package offered last year in the aerospace course is around 13 LPA, and for ECE, the number is around 23 LPA. 2. Median is around 10.5 LPA.
Infrastructure: 1. The infrastructure is really good; the college was set up in 2007, so you can imagine how new the department buildings are: 2. Personally, I am amazed after seeing the lab facilities in IIST. There are more than 30 labs in IIST that are well-functioning. You will find one or two Ph.D. students working in the labs always. (for example, we have a space lab in our college. I personally visited that lab and did some work also. 3. Talking about other facilities, classrooms are very nice (having AC and a digital projector along with a big blackboard). Sitting chairs in classrooms are very comfortable. 4. The library is good; you will get the option to issue the books also (min. 6 in a month). One thing that I don't like is the losing and opening time of the library; actually, it is 8:15 am to 9:00 pm, and I always thought, why is it not 24/7 like one can get the mood of study anytime, right (and I am not joking; I am serious; don't laugh). 5. Wi-Fi is very good throughout the campus with a decent speed. 6. Talking about the hostel room, it is well painted, has three beds, and has three almirahs along with a table and chair. So, rooms are really good. 7. Mess food is okay; personally, I'm from the northern part of India. So, I have the taste problem. It does not mean it is not good; you will get the variety and also the quality.
Faculty: Teachers are really good, well knowledgeable, and qualified. Apart from the professors, there are two assistant teachers in every subject. So, one can get help from the TAs also about the academic problem. You will get the tutorial from time to time, not in every subject, but, yeah, in core subjects you will get it. Talking about the semester exams, it is not that difficult; one can easily get a good CGPA after focusing in the class and giving two hours daily to study. The problem one can face is in core subjects. You have to do hard work to get a good CGPA.
Other: I choose this course because I am interested in space science and wanted to work in ISRO. About the campus life, I will say it is a little bit boring, although we have different fests, such as Conscientia, Dhanak, and events like Konchords Night, but still the social life is boring. The reason I can say it is a research organization is that the institution focuses on the research and study.

Absolutely satisfied with the faculty, good placements, and really good infrastructure and facilitie
Placements: The average package is around 15 LPA. Top companies include ISRO, Mercedes Benz, etc. All students must complete a compulsory internship in their third year. There are opportunities to go abroad for internships, with all expenses funded by the college. Top roles include grade A scientist, etc.
Infrastructure: Faculty members come from all over India and have post-doctoral degrees in their specific fields. Many have been educated at Ivy League colleges. Classrooms are air-conditioned, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus. The library is excellent, fully air-conditioned with six floors, and includes educational books, scientific papers, and novels. Hostels are also good and clean, though they lack AC and have common washrooms. Food at the mess is varied—some is good, some not so much.
Faculty: Teachers are extremely helpful and supportive. They are very knowledgeable and experienced in their fields. The curriculum is considered the best in India for aerospace engineering and is designed by the college itself. Semester exams align well with what is taught in class, with some high-order thinking required.

It is a good college in terms of education.
Placements: About 80% of students got placed in the last year's batch. A few students choose to study further. The main recruiter is ISRO, so there are no highest package criteria. Along with ISRO, there are a few other companies like Skyroot and Agnikul Cosmos. Everyone got internship offers in ISRO and a few other companies and institutions.
Infrastructure: Apart from sports facilities, all facilities are available like labs, classrooms, a library, etc. The hostel facilities are good. The quality of the food is good. The taste is not good. I don't know what the staff says. It's South Indian food. I am a South Indian but I don't like the food. Medical facilities are good. There is only one small canteen in the entire campus. It is open only from 8 AM - 11 PM. It is difficult to find a canteen facility during exam time, so we need a night canteen.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and exams conducted by them also little challenging.Frome 2024 they made few changes is curriculum..they kept few credits for extra curricular activities it's good thing for future students.academics wise no complaint. IIST Is mainly focused on academics so study wise no problem
Other: Since my childhood, I wanted to be a scientist, so I chose this course. The easiest way to join ISRO is IIST, so I opted for this college. Sports facilities are good. The crowd in our college is very small. Due to less crowd, a few problems arise during college fests and events. Our college is far from the city. We have to depend on KSRTC. The connectivity is the main issue. Extracurricular activities are not supported by our college management. I am from a dance club IIST. There is no support from the management. We ask for permission for everything that we require.

IIST review: good infra, facilities and placements but lack of extra curriculars.
Placements: The 2020 batch of IIST has a bond signed with ISRO, so all the students whose CGPA > 7.5 have been given placement opportunities at ISRO, with packages varying from 8-12 LPA. In earlier years, the main recruiter was the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), but now, in Aerospace, many new space startups have provided placement opportunities. In the 6th semester of the course curriculum, a mandatory internship must be completed. So, most students in their 3rd year have opportunities for internships at ISRO centers, making 95 to 100% of interns.
Infrastructure: The classrooms and labs at IIST are fully furnished, with air conditioning available in most labs and some classes. The Wi-Fi facilities are available all over the campus. Our campus contains free medical facilities, indoor and outdoor sports, a gym, and other amenities. The sports facilities are not great, but we have a wide range of sports activities, including outdoor sports like cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, and basketball, as well as indoor games like chess, carrom, table tennis, and pool. IIST is well-renowned for its library facilities. The library is six stories high, fully air-conditioned, with millions of books and journals, e-books, and other resources available for 16 hours (8 AM to 12 AM).
Faculty: The Director, Chancellor, Registrar, Heads, and Professors are well-respected personalities in their fields. The Professors are highly knowledgeable and qualified in their respective expertise. The course curriculum for Aerospace is very relevant, with theoretical, technical, and practical applications making their students industry-ready. The course curriculum for IIST, particularly Aerospace, is considered very hectic, with lectures, tutorials, tests, labs, assignments, and projects going throughout the semester, along with difficult mid-semester and end-semester exams. In spite of the difficulty, the pass percentage has always been above 85%.
Other: IIST was the first and best college in the Aerospace Department in Asia. Rockets and space have always fascinated me, and getting the opportunity to learn from the best Professors and the most relevant technology is a dream come true. The course curriculum is almost perfect, but more practical applications in aerospace could improve the quality of the course. The college authorities, students, and clubs organize fests, sports activities, cultural events, festival celebrations, and many educational and cultural programs. IIST has even organized a TEDx event. IISTians get the opportunity to receive scholarships-based internships at ISRO centers and many prestigious universities around the world, like JPL, Caltech, LASP, etc. The campus crowd and the lack of extracurriculars compared to other colleges with the same educational status are the only negative points I need to mention. IIST is located in the hills of Valiyamala, offering the most scenic views from the college. The remote location of the college leads to less connectivity.

It's a good college if you really want to study, and campus life is also good .
Placements: Actually, we aren't sure about the placement because the ISRO bond has been removed so the placement thing will be masked starting next year without the ISRO bond. The college has an average package of 10 lacs. You can get internships from many companies inside and outside India in the space sector.
Infrastructure: Yes, the infrastructure is good, and the college is growing and modifying the infrastructure; they are making new hostels, cricket stadiums, swimming pools, etc. And it's a kind of green campus; you will find trees and grasses all around the college with the protection of CIF.
Faculty: They are good, all the teachers are highly qualified and they just do an amazing job. The difficulty of the semester exam varies from moderate to hard so if you want to pass the exam, you have to study. You can't take it lightly and constantly perform well for a good CGPA.
Other: It's the best college for the aerospace engineering. Events and fests all are average.
