IIT Bhilai offers a two-year M.Tech course across six specialisations. These are Computer Science & Engineering, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Vehicle Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mechatronics. Admission to all the M.Tech courses is through GATE followed by COAP counselling.

For admission to IIT Bhilai MTech course, students are admitted through a valid GATE score. As per the selection process, candidates must pass graduation with BTech from a recognised board. Further, candidates need to appear for GATE entrance exams and get a qualifying score to get shortlisted for the course. Later on, the final seat allotment is done through COAP Counselling session. To apply for M.Tech course at IIT Bhilai, students need to pay the application fee for GATE. The amount to be paid is INR 850 for females and reserved category students and INR 1,700 for other candidates per paper. The application fees with late fee is INR 1,350 for females and reserved category students and INR 2,200 for other candidates.

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers.
