B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2025

Good college in terms of facilities but needs to improve placements.
Placements: I am currently pursuing B.Tech in electrical engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar. Last year, approximately 78% of students got placed in EE. The salary package offered ranges between 6 LPA to 67 LPA. The average salary package offered is 12 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Tata Steel, JLR, Accenture, and many more. Approximately 40% of students got internships from our course in companies like Accenture, JSPL, etc. Top roles offered are SDE, GET, MT, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college is in the developing phase. Many things are going on simultaneously and rapidly. We have 3 lecture hall complexes out of which 2 are functional now. We have schools for each department and labs in the schools. Our library has over 25,600 books. We have access to 60 million E-books through NDLI. Each student has his room. Wi-Fi and LAN are available 24/7. They provide good quality food in the mess. It provides food 4 times a day. We have Sanjeevan Health Centre. Specialized doctors visit our campus on a routine basis. The college provides us with good sports facilities.
Faculty: Teachers here are sincere, helpful, and well-qualified. They teach very well. The course curriculum is relevant. I feel the curriculum should be modified to make students industry-ready. They should start teaching the core subjects from the first semester, so we can have more time to go into the depth of our course.
Other: I chose the course because it was the best I could get at that time. I had some interest in electrodynamics. I feel instead of teaching humanity subjects, they should teach us more subjects of core electrical engineering. As I have previously mentioned our college is in the developing phase, everything is growing nowadays. There are many events and fests. There is a campus crowd, shops, etc. There are provisions for fee remission. Our college provides scholarships.

IIT Bhubaneswar, all you have to know about its fees, infrastructure, facilities, etc.
Placements: The top salary package offered by Oracle is 64 LPA. About 96% of students got placed. The rest are either opting for higher studies or preparing for government exams. The average salary package offered is around 15 LPA. Some recruiting companies are Google, Flipkart, Nvidia, Amazon, Intel, DE Shaw, Oracle, etc.
Infrastructure: Buildings are new with world-class facilities. Hostels have all the basic amenities. The quality of facilities in the hostel is good. The quality of the food available in the mess is fine. The caterer changes facilities every two years.
Faculty: Our teachers are experienced in their fields and make learning simple and fun. The course is well-structured. It makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are completely based on the curriculum. The pass percentage is about 35%.

An honest review from the inside of IIT BBS.
Placements: This year, almost 80% of students in CSE had the highest CTC of 55 lpa, the average CTC of 20 lpa, and the lowest CTC of 8 lpa. The top recruiting companies are Tiger Analytics, Brane, Accenture, and Jaguar. The top roles offered are data analyst, data scientist, business analyst, and software engineer. This year, 23 PPOs were received. The number of PPOs received compared to the previous year and placement season was also not that good compared with the previous year.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure facilities are improving gradually. At present, there are a library, an auditorium, lecture hall complexes, a student activity center, department buildings, a shopping complex, two Nescafé's, basketball, volleyball, football, cricket, lawn tennis, badminton courts and a table tennis play area. Hostel staff are not cooperative and mess food is the worst. There are very few food alternatives available on campus.
Faculty: The curriculum is not up-to-date. One has to prepare on their own to secure decent internships and placements. The faculty are quite helpful and cooperative. Semester exams mainly concentrate on understanding and application ability. The curriculum does not make students industry-ready. Professors are highly educated, knowledgeable and student-friendly.
Other: IIT BBS has 4 fests in total. Ashvamedha- Sports Fest E-Summit: Entrepreneurship Fest Wissen Aire-Technical Management Fest Alma Fiesta: Socio Cult Fest Scholarships provided by the institute are merit-cum means scholarship (mcm). And fee reimbursement for low-income students. Every student will be allocated a single-occupancy room with all the basic requirements, like Wi-Fi.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering + M.Tech. in Mechanical System Design - Batch of 2028

IIT BBS is really good for academics in mech, but as for college life, it is as bad as it can get.
Placements: Around 70 to 80 percent are placed. The highest package is 69 LPA, the lowest is not disclosed, and the average is 12 LPA. Mahendra, Google, etc. are the top recruiting companies. Almost all students get internships. As per my knowledge, the majority get placed because every senior I know has got placed and one even got 62 LPA. So, it is pretty good.
Infrastructure: Facilities are top-notch; no complaints since the infrastructure is good, and as per my branch equipment, everything is good. The mess we complain about it, but it is as good as a mess can be compared to other messes of other colleges. We have a 24/7 open hospital with insurance, and sports facilities are really good.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful; they motivate us to read more than required, more than the syllabus. Some faculty members don't teach well, but it is never felt that the teachers don't know their own subjects. I find it to be really difficult. The 1st year was easy, but now from the 2nd year things are getting very real and tough. In a subject out of 100, 4 to 5 students fail roughly.
Other: I have always been inclined towards mechanical, and I couldn't qualify for CS, so this was the obvious choice. Budget is an issue, but for the 2nd generation, most of the money goes into construction, so we feel a lot of budget issues. Campus life is very bad, I must say.

Beautiful campus, decent placement, and good faculty.
Placements: The placements are decent here with a median package of 15 LPA and a total placement percentage of around 85. The highest package is around 62 LPA. The core placements are also decent. However, currently, the internship scenario on campus for my branch is poor. For non-core, internship opportunities are decent.
Infrastructure: The hostels are good and equipped with Wi-Fi and LAN. There are three boys' hostels, two girls' hostels, and a hostel for married couples. The facilities for sports are really good; we have all sports facilities except a swimming pool, which is expected to be functional from Feb 2025. The new lecture hall complexes are well-built.
Faculty: The faculty is good over here; all the faculty have done Ph.D. The curriculum is similar to IIT Kharagpur and needs to be updated. The semester exams are generally tough, and the grading depends on the faculty, whether it will be relative or absolute grading.

Not-so-good placements happening right now; the existing infrastructure is good.
Placements: Placements post-COVID have been regarding due to recession, and companies are not hiring in huge numbers as of now. More than 30 percent of students in this outgoing batch this year are yet to be placed. The highest package is 55 LPA, and the lowest package is around 6 LPA. Not even 50 percent of the class strength got internships during on-campus hiring. Most of us have to apply off-campus or do research internships.
Infrastructure: Hostels are nice and neatly maintained and everything. The mess food is bad, the quality of food is average, but the taste is not good. We have to depend on pickles and other non-perishable food. The campus is nice, but there are not many large trees, which causes the heatwaves to turn worse in summer.
Faculty: IIT Bhubaneswar offers a strong curriculum that covers various disciplines, and the faculty has Ph.D. qualifications. Regular feedback on ongoing courses and faculty will be taken from students. Exams will be conducted twice in a semester. One semester approximately goes on for 4 months; two months into the semester, students will have to take mid-semester exams. At the end of the semester, the end-semester exams will be conducted.
Other: The good part about IIT Bhubaneswar is that we get to learn so much from the faculty members, and we can spend our college life away from city noise, on a peaceful large campus. The bad part about the college is it is situated far from Bhubaneswar city; it takes nearly 1 hour to travel to the city.
