For 2023, cut off was 3258 for General category candidates in All India quota for BTech in Computer Science and Engineering in IIT Dhanbad (ISM). For female candidates in general category under All India quota, 5862 was the closing rank. BTech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.

The cutoff trend for B.Tech at IIT Dhanbad (ISM) has been increasing in the recent years. In 2022, the closing rank for BTech under general category for all India quota was 5492. In 2023, it increased to 5821. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 1895 to 2215 for OBC, 1132 to 1322 for SC, 512 to 433 for ST, 795 to 799 for EWS. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. No, IIT Dhanbad BTech admission is strictly entrance based. Admission to IIT Dhanbad BTech is allotted on the basis of candidates' performance in JEE Main exam, candidates who qualify IIT Dhabad JEE Main cutoff are then required to appear for JEE Advance followed by  the counselling round conducted by JoSAA. JEE Main is also the eligibility test for JEE Advanced. Only those candidates who have qualified for JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced entrance test for admission to IIT Dhanbad BTech courses. To seek admission to the BTech programme offered at IIT Dhanbad, candidates need to visit the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and fill out the application form in online mode for JEE Main. 

IIT Dhanbad JEE Advanced Cutoff was released based on the category and gender. For the General AI category candidates, the Cutoff ranks ranged between 3846 and 15321. To get B.Tech. (Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering, the General AI category candidates must have secured a minimum cutoff rank of 9875. For the General AI female candidates, the minimum JEE Advanced rank to get Mechanical Engineering was 19099. For the OBC AI category, the cutoff rank for Mechanical closed at 7762. 

Therefore, a General AI candidate or an OBC AI candidate can secure a seat in Mechanical Engineering with the cutoff rank of 1500. However, the Cutoff rank to secure the course would depend on the category and gender as well. 

The year 2023 cutoff ranks for B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering at IIT Dhanbad (ISM) other than General category are 2938 for OBC, 1589 for SC, 638 for ST, 1136 for EWS. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE Advanced, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female.
