It is a good college but with some imperfection.
Placements: Placements at IIT Kharagpur are quite good. From our department students get placed in core and non-core companies with good salary packages. As of 2018-2019 batch, the highest salary package offered in our department was 80 LPA approximately, and the average salary package offered was 14 LPAapproximately with placement percentage over 90% with B.Tech 4 years and Dual degree i.e., B.Tech+M.Tech included. The top recruiting companies in core subjects are ITC, Bharat Petroleum, etc. Much recruitment is done in non-core sectors such as trading, investment banking, analytics, and IT.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure provided at our college is good with very poor maintenance. Wi-Fi is available everywhere, and labs are facilitated with the latest machines. Classrooms and libraries have good technologies to carry out the course. On the other hand, the hostel has a very diverse mess, with some of them have very good food while some of them have equally the worst. The canteen is in every hostel and it is open till late at night. Medical facilities are provided 24x7 with a hospital inside the campus but it has a bad reputation. There are also very good facilities for sports and games with each hostel having their own ground apart from common ground and court for each sport.
Faculty: Professors in our college are quite helpful on many occasions regarding the doubts and are very strict with attendance. A minimum of 75% is required in every subject to avoid de-registration. The course curriculum is a bit old and there are a lot of options to improve that.
Other: I chose this course because many students are competing for JEE. It is the best course for placement based on rank and this is what I got. The best thing about this course is that it provides lots of options for research. The course contents and structures should include more computer applications as used in the industry nowadays. The crowd is the best here, With one of the best cultural fests - The Spring Fest of India is organised here.

The Best Place to Spend Your Undergraduate Days.
Placements: Almost Everyone gets placed in core or non-core profiles. The highest domestic package is around 50 Lacs (CTC) and international packages hover over 1 Lacs. Top recruiters are Google, Microsoft, ITC, P&G, Johnson&Johnson, Honeywell etc. Almost everyone gets an internship and most of them are in software engineering or data Science profile followed by core chemical engineering (Pharma, Process ).
Infrastructure: Ample facilities including Wi-Fi, Laboratories, AC Classrooms, Sound Systems, Smart Boards, Sound Proof rooms, Computer Complex and Library. The food in mess is average to good and medical facilities are decent. A plethora of opportunities for sports enthusiasts including Inter IIT Meets and Inter Hall GC.
Faculty: Professors are more than qualified and the teaching quality depends on the student is good overall. The research facilities are great by Indian standards. The course curriculum is very relevant in core sectors and is currently being updated according to Industry 4.0.

A review on my experience in IIT-Kharagpur.
Placements: As it is an IIT, the placements are always expected to be good. Our college doesn't prefer non-core companies like consulting and finance companies. It gives preference to the companies in big cities like Delhi or Bombay for ease of access. More than 250+ companies come to the college to recruit 1200+ students. The placements are bound to be good. For the first few days of placement, the package would be in the range of 12-25 LPA, which would be followed by companies offering 8-12 LPA. After that, the packages might dwindle down lower to about 6-8 LPA, but this is pretty rare. Companies like Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Credit Suisse, Uber, FACE also come for the placements.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure on the academic front is really good. Wi-Fi and LAN are available on campus 24x7. The classrooms are airconditioned and well-maintained. The library is one of the biggest in India. We have the facilities like well-equipped gym, Olympic-sized swimming pool, playing fields and courts for all kinds of sports. Our college infrastructure lacks the basic amenities of student residence. Most of the rooms are old. As our college is the oldest IIT, it is uncomfortable to live in it. Medical facilities provided are also not good. BC Roy Technology hospital is not the state-of-the-art.
Faculty: The faculty are highly knowledgeable and are actively pursuing research. However, they might not be the most helpful, and the students have to make efforts for themselves. As the number of students is huge (more than 12000 including all courses and departments), the student-faculty ratio in our college is 20:1. The course curriculum was standard. They teach us pretty well.
Other: As our college is a rural residential campus, your entire time will be on campus bonding with your college mates. We have a unique experience in IIT Kharagpur. Events will be conducted throughout the academic year, and Inter-college General Championship (sports, cultural and technology fest) is also conducted on the campus. Fests like Spring Fest and Kshitij are organised in our college. We have various societies and halls. They provide a platform to develop yourself in your academics as well as in your career.

Other: There are enough societies, clubs to engage in rather than the isolated places. The infrastructure is unmatchable and there are hardly any short-comings in the case of infrastructure and technology. The library is huge, there is a free internet access and will change the students into a good student as well as a good citizen. The bad part of the college is Peer pressure. High competition is there. They didn’t surprise if you are a topper in your school time. No social life in outside of the campus. No malls, movie theatres, supplies shops are there.
