Candidates willing to get admission to various courses must apply online on the official website of the college. The modes of IIT Ropar course admissions are online and offline. Admission to various courses is based on the entrance exam followed by the counselling rounds. The entrance exams accepted for selection are JEE Main, JEE Advanced, GATE, and IIT JAM.

NTA has released the JEE Main 2025 dates on the official website jeemain.nta.ac.in. The session 1 exam will be conducted on January 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29, 2025 (Paper 1), and January 30, 2025 (Paper 2). The session 2 JEE Main 2025 exam date is April 1 to 8, 2025. The JEE Main 2025 application form session 1 has been released and the last date to apply was November 22, 2024. The dress code is flexible, and students can wear what they prefer. However, there are restrictions on movement timing for girls, and students must adhere to a moderate academic schedule with regular exams and practical discussions based on case studies. IIT Ropar offers PG and UG courses to students. At the undergraduate level, the Indian Institute of Technology–Ropar offers four to five-year BTech in nine specialisations. In addition to this, it also offers an integrated BTech programme. At the PG level, Ropar IIT offers two to five-year MTech in different specialisations and a two-year MSc in various specialisations. The IIT Ropar also offers PhD courses to students. 

To get admission to IIT Ropar the candidates have to take the GATE exam and clear it. GATE is a national-level entrance examination for admission to postgraduate engineering programmes at IIT Ropar. The exam tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology. GATE score is valid for three years and the scorecard is widely accepted by various institutes and organisations for admission and recruitment purposes. After the GATE examination, the CCMT counselling is conducted for admission to M.Tech courses in IIT Ropar, and the final step is COAP counselling.

The MTech course is offered in various branches at IIT Ropar: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. To be eliogible for this programme the aspiring candidates need to clear GATE exam. The candidates also need 60% in their graduationb to be eligle for this programme at IIT Ropar.

IIT Ropar - Indian Institute of Technology will release 6 rounds of JEE Advanced cutoffs for admission to B.Tech. The cutoffs will be released on a rolling basis, and the seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The cutoffs will be based on the following factors:

To get admission at IIT Ropar for MTech courses, Candidate must qualift the GATE exam. The IIT Ropar GATE Cutoff has been released for different MTech courses. The cutoff was released for different categories. The Cutoff ranks ranged at 325 and 707, for the General AI category candidates. As per the IIT Ropar JAM Cutoff 2024 Round 2 Cutoff, the most competitive course was M.Sc in Mathematics. The Cutoff rank for M.Sc in Mathematics was 432, for the General AI Category candidates. 

If not eligible for IIT Ropar, candidates can opt for IIT Indore with a linient cutoff of 337 for M.Sc in Mathematics. 

The institute offers various scholarships like Merit-cum-Means, Institute-Free Studentship, etc. The institute offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarships to undergraduate students in Engineering and Technology. These are provided to about 25% of the students. The present value of Merit-cum-Means scholarship is INR 1,000 per month for General Category students and the recipient is exempted from paying tuition fees.
