The college provides good infrastructure and facilities. The campus surroundings are lush-green.
Placements: I got placed in an Australian based construction company named King Ruby Homes and KPC India Pvt Ltd by attending the campus recruitment process. I was offered a salary package of 2.50 LPA. My role at the time of joining the company was of a junior project engineer for the training period of 6 months, and after that, I am acting as a project engineer.
Infrastructure: The total campus and hostel are Wi-Fi enabled. Equipment in labs is good and in working condition. Classrooms are well-lit and spacious enough with a separate table for each student. Projectors are also available for every department. Medical facilities and ambulance service are also available in emergencies. The college organises sports day every year, and training for sports is provided. Matches will be conducted between different departments.
Faculty: All the faculty members are qualified as per Anna University norms. Their teaching quality is good, and they use international language and sometimes the local language for understanding purpose only. Industry exposure is provided twice per semester. The faculty to student ratio is maintained to be 1:15.
Other: The college organises various events like department symposium, Pongal celebrations, Onam celebrations, sports day, hostel day, etc. The campus has an eco-friendly environment, and scholarships will be provided based on caste.

Q:   Question: How is the course curriculum for B.E. / B.Tech at JCT College of Engineering?

A:
{Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Course Curriculum for BE/BTech in Petroleum Engineering at JCT College

Based on the feedback from students and alumni, here's an overview of the course curriculum:

* Lack of Practical Knowledge: Many students felt that the course focused more on theoretical aspects and did not provide sufficient practical knowledge, making it challenging for them to apply their skills in real-world scenarios.
* Relevance to Industry Needs: Some students mentioned that the course curriculum does not align with the requirements of the industry, resulting in a lack of employability among graduates.
* Teaching Quality: While some faculty members were knowledgeable and helpful, others lacked practical experience and teaching skills, leading to ineffective classroom interactions.
* Syllabus Completion: Students reported that their professors often failed to cover the entire syllabus, leaving important topics unaddressed and creating difficulties during examinations.
* Emphasis on Mugging Up: The emphasis on rote memorization and mugging up rather than conceptual understanding and critical thinking was a common complaint among students.
* Placement Records: While some students secured decent placements, many others faced challenges in finding employment, citing poor placement records and inadequate corporate connections.

It appears that the course curriculum at JCT College requires significant revisions to address these concerns and ensure that students receive a balanced education that prepares them for the demands of the industry.

Q:   How effective is the placement cell for B.E. / B.Tech courses at JCT College of Engineering?

A:
{Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for BE/BTech Courses at JCT College of Engineering

* Poor performance: According to various students' reviews, the placement cell at JCT College of Engineering is ineffective. Only 3-5 recruiting companies visit the campus for placements, offering salary packages ranging between 2.5-6.2 LPA. This suggests that the college fails to provide adequate opportunities for its students.
* Limited internship opportunities: Out of around 350-400 students in the department, only 13% received internships in reputed companies such as ONGC, CPCL, Cetex Petrochemicals, etc. This indicates a lack of effort from the placement cell to secure meaningful internships for students.
* No improvement expected: Despite protests from students regarding poor hostel facilities and food, the college administration did not show significant improvements. Similarly, students do not anticipate any substantial changes in the placement scenario.
* Lack of transparency: Reviews suggest that the college's claims about placements may be exaggerated, and the actual numbers might be lower than advertised. This raises concerns about the honesty and accountability of the placement cell.

Overall, the effectiveness of the placement cell for BE/BTech courses at JCT College of Engineering appears to be subpar, failing to provide satisfactory outcomes for students seeking employment after graduation.
