B.E. in Marine Engineering - Batch of 2014

The college needs to try the placement for the students.
Placements: The administration of this campus is poor. They even didn't try to place their marine students in any company. We tried to core, but at last, we are cunned by them. Still, the placement cell is kept as a staffs entertainment room in our college. But our college administration showing to parents like all of our students got placed in the good companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure on the campus is not bad. In the marine, the classrooms they are showing has the air-conditioned room, but it will not work forever. Rest of the infrastructure is at the basic level. The students can adjust that environment. Wherever we are using water other than the drinking water, and it is directly fed from the sea, which is disgusting.
Faculty: The faculty members are good in the marine department, but the course curriculum is not good. The syllabus needs to change as required for the ship's experience and our operational level exams. My college students get tougher to pass four exams and notice that point.
Other: Still, the course fee is more than the other colleges for the management students. Particularly, the hostel fee and the food fee is more than the other department students. But the same food is given to all. Fewer fee students also get the same food as the higher fee student get. They can do little much difference for the marine students.

There are no placements and there is very high fee.
Placements: There are zero placements for marine engineering department from the start of the college till present. If the college says placements, it is only in your dreams, never in reality. The college even puts up billboards, saying all the batch students are placed outside the college, which is not true. A few students are struggling to start their career, as we all have to go to Mumbai, suffer hard, searching for jobs and land in a proper company. The college can arrange, and also it has all the financial background, to bring one or two companies to the campus, but since education is a business, they just don't care. The reception people and the college PR always lie.
Infrastructure: The college has a Wi-Fi enabled campus. Labs are good. There is a great library with lots of publications and journals. Medical facilities in the hostel are nil. To go to the nearest hospital, the warden has to take you 5 km away. Football, hockey, cricket, volleyball and kabaddi are the major sports played in the college. Marine classes are supposed to be AC enabled, but they never work and are always off to reduce expenses. The marine hostel is good except for very bad salty water for domestic purposes. The college has a ship on the campus which satisfies the minimum requirements.
Faculty: The faculty are well-equipped and qualified. Teaching quality is good. The students are limited to just 30 a batch. One week in-plant training is conducted by the college in Tuticorin port, where students are exposed to ships and engine room.
Other: One cultural programme is conducted for students. There are no scholarships. Iftar party is conducted every year. Blood donation is also arranged every year.

Extremely disappointed because of faculty, placements, labs, infrastructure. No good things in MSEC
Placements: No placement facilities available for the marine department. Indian Navy will come to take cadets under the UES entry which is more common in major colleges.
No internship is available for the marine department. A 7-day visit to the nearest port of Tuticorin will be useful if we visit ships. The college won't help in any aspect of placements.
Zero placements and internships.
Infrastructure: There are no sufficient books for the marine department in the library. Other department books will be filled in our rack during inspection times.
The college won't give importance to sports too. If anyone is interested in any game, then he will form a team and all together prepare themselves for competition.
Old buildings will have cracks. Mechanical and chemical department labs will be renamed as Marine labs during the inspection. A number of lathe machines are there but not in working condition.
The quality of food will be below average. Biriyani will be good during Saturday. Apart from that, there is nothing special.
For Marine trainee, a ship is there but pieces of machinery are not there for dismantling and refixing. An AC will be there but they won't switch it on ever.
Faculty: Faculty members have been changed now. To my knowledge, there won't be proper teaching now since there is no chief or second engineer. As per a rule, at least one chief engineer should be there but our college lacks that criterion.
Faculty members will not even take classes. They will come, sit simply and then finally, they will close the session by saying goodbye.
Other: Not only for marine, my humble request is that don't fall into the trap. Life will get a light if you choose a correct course at the correct college. Mohamed Sathak will be good for people who don't want to shine in their life to a great extent. Very few faculty members will take classes properly and apart from them, others will treat everyone as 12th standard students.
