B.Sc. in Computer Science - Batch of 2027

A journey through growth and opportunities.
Placements: About 20% to 30% of the students study B.Sc. in Computer Science. The average salary for graduates is around 3 to 4 LPA, and about 25% of the students get internships with top companies in Chennai, such as Stay in Digital.
Infrastructure: The labs in this college are the best. They have all the latest software and are fully air conditioned. The libraries are the best of all, and the food in the mess is better than average. However, the mess is mostly non-vegetarian, which can be a challenge for vegetarian students. Overall, I highly recommend this college.
Faculty: The professors at the New College are well qualified and really care about their students. They take the time to explain the material and answer questions. The semester exams are challenging, but the professors are fair and over 60% of the students pass.

A well disciplined college in the middle of Chennai city.
Placements: Most of the students get selected for placement studies but roughly about 40% students get selected for the placements. Many students prefer to go for higher studies. Placement in my college is good. Placement companies such as TCS, WIPRO, TECH MAHINDRA, HCL, AMAZON, FLIPKART, UBER, etc. visit here.
Infrastructure: The New College provides all the facilities and study equipments. My college is fully loaded with CCTV surveillance systems. It provides a well maintained canteen. There is a Mosque inside the college. There is a library, auditorium, playground, outdoor stage, indoor gym and much more.
The college's hostel is good and well maintained, There are enough washrooms and toilets for the student. The hostel is only for boys because it is a boys college.
Faculty: The New College is Autonomous and comes under The Madras University. The courses provided here are approved by the University of Madras. The New College has enough and well educated teachers who are Masters in there field. Being an Autonomous college, its syllabus is updated and students here get real time information.
Other: I chose B.Sc in computer Science because it's best for me. I was interested in this field.

Good to start career in CS.
Placements: For B.Sc., placement is very low; for M.Sc., students get more placement. Many good companies also come for hiring, such as Byjus, Justdial, and HCL The package is 3 LPA. But number of opportunities are very low 6 companies come in year and hire 8 students. So placement percentage is very low; some roles are non-technical system support roles also given with package 2.4 LPA. Intershala is very useful for finding internship.
Infrastructure: The college campus is good, but the canteen and sports grounds are very small. No, we have not had Wi-Fi till now. Labs are good computer and instrumental labs in our department. The library has a small seating capacity, but its book collection is huge. The hostel is decent but has problems with water, food, and washroom cleaning. No medical facilities have been developed. Sports grounds are small, and very few sports events are conducted by the college.
Faculty: Teachers are good; some are MC/CS qualified. Teaching is average, but girls students are very few. B.Sc. courses are good, but industries hire M.Sc. students. The course curriculum is simple for first-year B.Sc. students; they have the same syllabus for physics, electronics, and math subjects. In the 2nd year, we introduce programming languages such as Java, and the 3rd year is advanced computer science. Semester exams are very easy; with one week of study, you can pass.
Other: There is water blockage in the rain session. I am sharing photos of the blockage; it is very disturbing.

It has good infrastructure and good teachers.
Placements: In our batch, 60% of students got placed in BPO, software, and some other fields. In the CS department, students are trained to attend the Zoho interview. HOD provides special training staff. The main purpose of training is to clear aptitude, coding, and interviews.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. Water, canteen, and toilet facilities are available. Heavy rain floods the college. Students can use the ground. There is a basketball court, a football ground, where we can play cricket, and a badminton court. Libraries and a masjid are available.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified, very friendly with students, and helpful. The teaching quality is good. They teach using a smart board. It will be more helpful for the students to understand. This course will make the students ready for the industry. Semester exams are tough. The passing percentage increased to 82%. Students will pass the exam.
Other: I want to work in the software field, so I decided to choose a B.Sc. in CS. The syllabus was very good. The syllabus will get better every year.

One of the top minority colleges.
Placements: The worst placement, fewer companies come to campus and do not select any candidates. 40% of students in class selected in placement; Wipro is the top hiring company, hiring 3 students at a package of 3.6 LPA. 50% of students go for higher studies (M.Sc. & MBA). Even they do not offer good internship. Placement cell needs to be serious about placing students.
Infrastructure: Campus life is good, but the campus has many problems in the monsoon; drainage is blocked, causing water to accumulate everywhere. Mosquitoes have become a problem this session. Parking space is very limited, and many protests happen in college, creating difficulties. The library has all kinds of books, including journals and novels. It also has internet service. Hostel is in the college providing accommodation and food. The mess food tastes the same for every curry as the same spices are used, but the canteen food is of good quality. Sports events are conducted during the fest.
Faculty: Teachers are well-educated but do not have time to teach us; many holidays during the weekend break study momentum. Teachers help us in building projects. Our institute is autonomous; our professors decide the syllabus and conduct exams. The syllabus is good and contains all IT subjects. The semester is difficult, but passing only needs 27/70 marks, which is easy to score.
Other: The college is a minority community college, so most students are from minorities. Many scholarships are provided by the college and government, reducing fees costs.
