D Pharm is a diploma in pharmacy and an entry-level tertiary pharmacy credential. It is obtained after two years of training. It is suitable for candidates wishing to pursue a long-term career in pharmacy. It provides registered pharmacy qualifications for practising the Pharmacy profession under the Pharmacy Act.  

Students who have completed higher secondary education with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology can enrol in the course. The students who have completed their diploma in D Pharm can work in various departments as consultant pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, dispensary managers, dispensary pharmacists, community pharmacists, etc.

  • D Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry: 

D Pharm in pharmaceutical chemistry is a six-semester course offered by many universities. This course provides orientation and practical training to handle various quality controls and assurance techniques related to cosmetics, medicines, etc. The scope of this course is in the field of research and development of new medications for pharmaceutical companies or government agencies.  

  • PhD in Pharmaceutical Science & Technology: 

PhD in pharmaceutical science is a 3 years course with a semester system. It is a master's degree in the science stream. This course prepares students for a career in advanced research at various institutions. This course also applied research in drug delivery, herbal drugs, pharmacology, and molecular and cell biology.

Natural resources like plants, microbes, and animals. The subject also helps understand the analysis of biological, chemical, biochemical, and physical properties of resources.

Through this subject, the student will learn about pharmacology and toxicology. Pharmacology is the study that emphasises the therapeutic effects of chemicals, particularly drugs. Toxicology is the study that highlights the adverse effects of the chemicals and risk assessment of pharmaceuticals. Under these subjects, students will study the scope of pharmacology, routes of administration of drugs, absorption of drugs, and the factors affecting them.  

Pharmaceutical jurisprudence 

Under these subjects, students will learn about the rules and regulations of pharmacy, pharmacy practice, and drugs and pharmaceuticals. The main objective of this subject is to consolidate and amend the laws related to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The jurisprudence title of this subject means a guide used by lawyers and judges to interpret specific laws that require interpretation correctly.  

Health Education and community pharmacy  

The subject provides knowledge related to health education, which is meant to improve and maintain health. The community pharmacy implies a place where the practice of pharmacy occurs under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.  

Drug store and business management  

The subject is new in the study of pharmacy introduced by the Pharmacy Council of India and concerned with the distribution of goods and services produced by the industry. The basic concept of this subject is to carry goods and people from one place to another. The students will learn about the basic principles of inventory control through this subject.

The students will learn how medicines or crude drugs are produced from natural resources such as plants, microbes, and animals. The study of pharmacognosy also includes analysis of the natural resources and their biological, biochemical, and physical properties. Entrance Exams For D Pharm 

Listed below are the central and state-level entrance exams to secure seats in the D Pharm courses. The minimum qualification required for admission to D Pharm is 10+2 with compulsory subjects such as physics and chemistry, mathematics, biology, computer science, etc. The minimum scores for candidates are 50 % for the general category and 45% for other category candidates. 

The Pharmacy courses are one of the top choice courses across the country. Many universities and institutions offer D Pharm courses. Syllabus For Distance Program in D Pharm
