Q: When will the application forms for NID 2025 be released?
NID application form 2025 opened on September 3, 2024. The application form is open online at the NID admission portal -admissions.nid.edu. Candidates who meet the program-specific eligibility criteria may apply before the last date.
The NID application form is for admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses offered by participating colleges.
The last date to apply for NID DAT 2025 is December 6, 2024 (extended from December 3). The candidate can also edit the submitted application from December 4-9, 2024.
The NID DAT 2025 (Prelims) exam will be conducted on January 5, 2025.
Q: What is the application fee for NID DAT?
The application fee of NID DAT 2025 for the B. Des for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates is INR 3,000. SC, ST, PwD candidates only ned to pay INR 1,500. However note that the application fees for overseas candidates seeking admission to supernumerary seats is INR 5000. In case of the M.Des programme, the application fees for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates applying for one discipline is INR 3,000. If two disciplines are chosen, the application fee is INR 6000. Meanwhile, SC, ST, PwD candidate need to pay INR 1,500 for one discipline, and INR 3000 for two disciplines.

What will happen if I don’t meet NID DAT 2025 document specification?
The National Institute of Design has prescribed some specific requirements for uploading the NID DAT 2025 application documents.
This includes the file size and format.

Q: How to fill the NID DAT application form? Also, what is the exam fee?
The NID DAT 2025 application form will open sometime in October 2024.
To fill the form, the candidate has to follow these steps:
- Get registered - The candidate had to get registered using their email id and mobile number.
- Log-in and fill the form - Next fill in all the necessary sections in the form - academic, personal, and contact details. Also, select an exam centre of your choice.
- Upload documents - Follow the specified format and specification when uploading documents like photograph and signature.
- Pay the exam fee to complete the application process. The NID DAT 2025 fee is Rs. 3000 for open, and Rs. 1500 for reserved-category candidates. Note that the late fees is 50% more than the NID 2025 application fee.
Q: Can I change my date of birth when NID application form correction window opens?
No, the date of birth cannot be changed in the NID application correction window. The candidate will also not be able to edit their name, the programme applied for admission, registered email id, and phone number, in the application form. Note that these details are entered by the candidate at the time of registering for the NID DAT exam. Among the particulars that the candidate is allowed to edit in the NID DAT application form include the exam centre, address of communication, uploaded documents, category under which admission is sought, and any other details not covered in the paragraph above. The candidate needs to go through the list of items that can be edited and that can not be edited before filling out the NID DAT application form to avoid trouble afterwards. The application edit window for NID DAT will open within a few weeks of the closure of the application form.
Q: Can I fill NID application form offline in any way?
The application form for NID DAT 2025 has to be filled online. There is no way to fill the form in any other way. The application link is provided on the official admission portal of NIFT; alternately, the candidate could visit this page to fill the application form. The application fee for NID that will also have to be paid online using online payment gateway. Note that the National Institute of Design (NID) will invite NID that applications for admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses. Currently, there are 425 seats for the B. Des programme, while the M.Des programme has an intake of 347 seats.
Q: When will the NID DAT merit list be released?
The FINAL results for the B.Des program will be declared on May 16, 2025, while final results for the M.Des program will be announced on May 6, 2025.
The merit lists will be released at the time of declaration of results. The lists will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. Also, the merit list will be considered for seat allotment.
In case of B.Des candidates, candidates included in the merit list has to submit campus preferences.
M.Des candidates aren't required to submit campus preferences.
Now if you don’t meet the requirements, say, if the file size is more than 200 kb, you will not be able to upload the document.
If you fail to upload the document, you won’t be able to move to the next stage of the NID DAT 2025 application process.
So, make sure that you format the documents as per the required specifications before proceeding to fill out the application form.
NID DAT application form 2025 - What if I upload the wrong documents?
The candidate is urged to upload the correct and verifiable documents only.
However, if the candidate indulges in forgery and uploads fake documents, he or she is liable to be disqualified. Also, criminal charges may be imposed on such candidates.
Note that the documents furnished by the candidate will be verified at the time of NID DAT 2025 counseling and seat allotment.
If any anomaly is found, the candidate has to justify their actions.
Can I edit uploaded documents during NID DAT 2025 application correction window?
Yes, the candidate can edit, or upload fresh documents during the NID DAT 2025 application correction window.
The National Institute of Design will open the NID DAT application correction 2025 option from December 4-9, 2024.
Note that you won’t be able to edit the program applied for admission, name, date of birth, email ID, and registered mobile number during the correction window.
How to apply for NID DAT 2025
The application form for NID DAT 2025 was open online at the NID admission portal - admissions.nid.edu.
To apply for NID DAT, follow these steps:
- Get registered - You will have to SELECT the program of study, nationality, category, PwD status, DOB, name, email ID, and mobile number to get registered.
- Fill up the form - Upon registration, you need to log in to the candidate account and fill in personal, academic, and communication details. Also, select an exam city from the drop-down menu.
- Upload documents - Next, you need to upload your signature, photograph, and a few other documents.
- Pay the application - Finally, pay the NID DAT application fee to complete the application process.
Note that unless you duly complete the application process, the NID DAT admit card will not be issued to you.

The reporting time for the DAT Prelims exam will be mentioned on the NID DAT 2025 admit card. Reach the exam center as per the reporting time. Note that latecomers will not be allowed inside the NID DAT 2025 exam center.
