UCEED Syllabus 2025 - The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, has released the syllabus for UCEED 2025.
The syllabus is released online at the UCEED - IIT Bombay admission portal.Â
Per the current syllabus, Part A of UCEED 2024 will be administered in a computer-based test (CBT) mode and have three sections (NAT, MSQ, and MCQ).
Meanwhile, Part B will have two sections - 1) the Drawing-based section, and 2) the Design Aptitude Section. One question will be asked from each section.Â
The detailed syllabus for UCEED 2025 is outlined below. Along with the syllabus, consult the UCEED 2024 exam pattern.Â
IIT Bombay will conduct the national-level UCEED 2025 on January 19, 2025.Â
The merit rank of UCEED 2025Â will be used to offer admission to the B.Des program offered by participating institutes.Â
Q: Â When will the UCEED 2025 syllabus be released?
IIT Bombay has released the syllabus for UCEED 2025.
This syllabus is followed for drafting the UCEED question paper starting 2024 (onward).
So, if you are planning to appear in UCEED 2025 exam, you must follow the official syllabus.
The UCEED syllabus contains the topics that candidates need to prepare for the national-level design entrance exam. As per changes made to the UCEED syllabus, Part B question paper now include two questions.
Q: Â Has the syllabus changed for the UCEED exam?
Yes, IIT Bombay has revised the syllabus for UCEED exam that is applicable from 2024 onwards.
As per the revised syllabus for the UCEED exam, the question paper continues to have two parts - Part A and Part B. Also, Part A will be conducted in a computer-based test (CBT) mode and will have three sections NAT MSQ, and MCQ). However, Part B now has two sections - 1) the Drawing-based section, and 2) the Design Aptitude Section.
Note that Part A will include 57 questions, while Part A will have two questions.
The candidate needs to refer to the detailed syllabus and pattern when preparing for the UCEED 2025 exam.
Q: Â When will the CEED 2025 result be declared?
IIT Bombay will declare the results of CEED exam on March 5, 2025. The result will be declared online at ceed.iitb.ac.in. To check their results, the candidate needs to log in to the result portals using their log-in id.
Note that hard copies of the result will not be sent to the candidate.
The CEED 2025 results will be released for all candidates who appear in the design entrance exam. However, the CEED 2025 merit rank will only be issued to candidates who qualify for Part A and are shortlisted.
The scorecards will be released after results are declared (from March 10, 2024, onward).

IIT Bombay revised the syllabus for UCEED in the previous edition.
UCEED - Part A now has the following sections - Visualization and spatial reasoning, Practical and scientific knowledge, Observation and design sensitivity, Environment and Society, Analytical and logical reasoning, Language, and Creativity.

Syllabus for UCEED 2024 Part B
A key change was made to the Part B syllabus of UCEED. A new topic "Design Aptitude" was added. So, Part B now has two topics, with one question asked from each section.Â

Is the UCEED 2025 syllabus exhaustive?
Yes, the UCEED 2025 syllabus given above is exhaustive and indicative of the types of questions that will be asked in the UCEED 2025 exam. This means the candidate isn’t required to prepare for any other topics than the ones listed here to ace the exam.
However, it may be noted that the UCEED 2025 question paper may not include questions from all the topics.Â
Q: Â What types of questions will be asked in UCEED 2025?
The UCEED exam will have two parts - Part A and Part B. Part A will include Numerical Answer Type NAT Multiple Select Question (MSQ), Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Meanwhile, Part B will include drawing and aptitude-based questions. Note that in the previous edition of the exam, Part B include only sketching-based question. So, starting UCEED 2024, the candidate also needs to prepare for aptitude based questions that will be asked in Part B. Questions for the aptitude section will evaluate the ability of the candidate to practically and appropriately respond to problems/situations with ingenuity and empathy.
Q: Â Should I solve previous year's papers considering UCEED syllabus is revised?
The UCEED 2025 exam will have two sections - Part A and Part B. While the syllabus has been revised for the exam starting 2024, there are still some topics that overlap. For instance, Part A still continues to have the Analytical and Logical Reasoning, Observation and Design sensitivity, and a few other topics from the various edition. So, candidates can use the previous years papers to practice these topics. For the other topics, the candidate can try out sample papers.

Q: Â What kind of questions will be asked from the UCEED 2025 visualization and spatial reasoning section?
This section will include pictorial and diagrammatic questions that will evaluate the candidates understanding of the transformation and manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships. The candidate needs to practice the following topics to prepare for the section: Conventional/Unconventional Materials for Construction, Design, and Decoration Texture Making Materials, Production Materials, Decoration Materials - Flooring, Cladding (protective material which covers the surface of something), Wall Protection and Decoration - Paints, Plasters, etc. Pattern and Design of Paper Folding Materials and Type of Texture Optical Illusion (2D/3D objects and understanding).
Update on UCEED 2025 exam pattern
In addition to the syllabus, IIT Bombay also made some changes to the UCEED exam pattern that is applicable from 2024 onwards. The UCEED entrance exam has two Parts - Part A and Part B. However, Part B is now of 60 minutes duration (instead of 30 minutes) and include two questions (instead of one).

It is mandatory for candidates to attempt both Part A and Part B. Candidates are urged to go through the detailed UCEED 2023 exam pattern to get additional insights - marking scheme, section-wise weightage, etc.Â

How to prepare for UCEED 2024 using the syllabus
Now that you are familiar with the UCEED 2025 syllabus, this is how you prepare for the entrance exam:
- Carefully go through the syllabus
- You may divide the syllabus into smaller chunks so that you can make a study plan, for instance which topic to tackle first
- It is recommended that you complete the easy topics first.
- Once you are done with the easy topics, next focus on the moderate-to-difficult topics
- If you get stuck in a topic, don't spend prodigious time on it. Better move on or take help. If you have time left, you can always come back and tackle that topic.
- Ensure that you complete the entire syllabus to have a better chance at getting a good score.

Solve sample papers and previous years' UCEED question papers to not only improve your problem-solving ability but to better understand the topics and the interplay of various concepts. Note that you can solve sample papers very early on in the exam preparation.
For instance, after you complete a topic, you can solve the related problems. This way, you can keep solving more and more problems as you complete more chapters.

The Department of Design, IITD, is set ton introduce a B.Tech in Design program from the upcoming admission session.
It will have an intake of 20 students in the first batch. It is a 4 year program. The intake will be based on JEE advanced merit rank.
