Now that CBSE 12 exams have been cancelled due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, the Education Ministry is expected to conduct a meeting to take a final decision on schedule of pending JEE-Main and NEET-UG. Both exams were scheduled for August.
NEET-UG is an entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS courses. This year, JEE-Main aspirants have been given the option of attempting the exam four times a year so that they can improve their scores and only the best score will be considered. The first two sessions have already been conducted by the NTA in February and March, respectively, whereas the remaining two sessions were scheduled to be held in April and May. However, these were deferred due to the increasing COVID-19 cases.

JEE-Advanced, which is conducted for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), was also postponed. IIT Kharagpur, the organising institute of JEE Advanced, announced the postponement of the paper on May 26. The exam was scheduled to take place on July 3.
The registration process for the NEET-UG exam, which was supposed to commence from May 1, was suspended temporarily.
The Education Ministry is also yet to decide on the fate of the Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) and a decision in this regard is expected after the CBSE announces its alternative assessment criteria for Class 12 boards.
