Q:   What is the last date of GATE 2025 registration?

A:

IIT Roorkee has revised the last date of the GATE 2025 application form. The last date to submit the application form with regular fees was October 3, 2024, and October 11, 2024 (with late fees). For more details candidates can visit: www.shiksha.com/engineering/gate-exam-application-form. Candidates can make the payment of the GATE application fee via through online banking/credit card/debit card/UPI. 

Q:   When will GATE 2025 exam be conducted?

A:

IIT Roorkee has released GATE 2025 exam dates on its official website. The GATE 2025 exam will be conducted on 1,2,15 and 16 February 2025. GATE 2025 exam will be conducted in multiple days and multiple shifts for all 30 papers. 

Q:   What is the GATE Civil Engineering syllabus?

A:

The GATE syllabus for Civil Engineering will help students enhance their exam preparations and plan their studies accordingly. Topics covered in Civil Engineering are structural analysis, design of concrete and steel structures, soil mechanics, foundation engineering, hydraulic engineering, hydrology, wastewater treatment, and transportation planning. It also consists of essential topics like probability and statistics, linear algebra, calculus, numerical methods, and differential equations.

Section 1: Engineering Mathematics Linear Algebra: Matrix algebra; Systems of linear equations; Eigen values and Eigen vectors. Calculus: Functions of single variable; Limit, continuity and differentiability; Mean value theorems, local maxima and minima; Taylor series, etc. Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE): First order (linear and non-linear) equations; higher order linear equations with constant coefficients; Euler-Cauchy equations, etc. Partial Differential Equation (PDE): Fourier series; separation of variables; solutions of one-dimensional diffusion equation, etc. Probability and Statistics: Sampling theorems; Conditional probability; Descriptive statistics Mean, median, mode and standard deviation, etc. Numerical Methods: Error analysis. Numerical solutions of linear and non-linear algebraic equations; Newtons and Lagrange polynomials, etc.  

Section 2: Structural Engineering Mechanics: System of forces, free-body diagrams, equilibrium equations; Internal forces in structures; Frictions and its applications, etc. Solid Mechanics: Bending moment and shear force in statically determinate beams; Simple stress and strain relationships, etc. Structural Analysis: Statically determinate and indeterminate structures by force or energy methods; Method of superposition, etc. Construction Materials and Management: Construction Materials: Structural Steel Composition, material properties and behavior, etc. Concrete Structures: Working stress and Limit state design concepts, etc. Steel Structures: Working stress and Limit state design concepts; Design of tension and compression members, etc.  

Section 3: Geotechnical Engineering Soil Mechanics: Three-phase system and phase relationships, index properties; Unified and Indian standard soil classification system; Permeability, etc. Foundation Engineering: Sub-surface investigations - Drilling bore holes, sampling, plate load test, standard penetration and cone penetration tests; Earth pressure theories, etc.  

Section 4: Water Resources Engineering Fluid Mechanics: Properties of fluids, fluid statics; Continuity, momentum and energy equations and their applications, etc. Hydraulics: Forces on immersed bodies; Flow measurement in channels and pipes, etc. Hydrology: Hydrologic cycle, precipitation, evaporation, etc. Irrigation: Types of irrigation systems and methods; Crop water requirements, etc.  

Section 5: Environmental Engineering Water and Waste Water Quality and Treatment: Basics of water quality standards Physical, chemical and biological parameters; Water quality index, etc. Air Pollution: Types of pollutants, their sources and impacts, air pollution control, air quality standards, etc. Municipal Solid Wastes: Characteristics, generation, collection and transportation of solid wastes, etc.  

Section 6: Transportation Engineering Transportation Infrastructure: Geometric design of highways, etc. Geometric design of railway Track Speed and Cant. Concept of airport runway length, calculations and corrections; taxiway and exit taxiway design. Highway Pavements: Highway materials - desirable properties and tests; Desirable properties of bituminous paving mixes, etc. Traffic Engineering: Traffic studies on flow and speed, peak hour factor, accident study, statistical analysis of traffic data, etc.  

Section 7: Geomatics Engineering Principles of surveying; Errors and their adjustment; Maps - scale, coordinate system; Distance and angle measurement - Levelling and trigonometric levelling, etc. Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing - Scale, flying height; Basics of remote sensing and GIS. Q:   How can we download the GATE 2025 answer key?

A:
To check the GATE 2024 answer key, candidates need to login using their enrollment ID, email ID, and password. A direct link will also be available here once it is released. It will also be available at the GOAPS 2024 website. Check below for the steps to download the GATE 2024 answer key: Visit the official website of GOAPS. - Login using the registered credentials. - Check and download the GATE answer key. - Take a printout for future reference. In 2024, IISc Bangalore will release the GATE 2024 answer key along with the result. Also, the authorities will allow the candidates to raise objections against the answer key. Q:   Can I challenge the GATE answer key?

A:

Yes, candidates can challenge the GATE answer key online by paying INR 500 per question. Candidates have to provide proper proof for their objections. IIT Roorkee will release the GATE 2025 answer key and open the answer key challenge window in March 2025 (tentative). The answer key will be released in two formats- provisional and final. The GATE provisional answer key can be challenged if the responses are not satisfactory. Once all the objections are addressed and corrected, the concerned authorities will publish the final answer key, which cannot be challenged further. Q:   When will the GATE 2025 answer key be released?

A:

IIT Roorkee will release the GATE 2025 provisional answer key on its official website- gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The facility to raise objections in the answer key will be available online. The GATE answer key and response sheet can be used by the candidates to verify their answers and predict their scores. To calculate the scores, candidates need to follow the marking scheme. The GATE result for 2025 will be declared on March 19, 2025, by IIT Roorkee.  It is to be noted that candidates need to pay Rs 500 per question to challenge the GATE answer key. Q:   When will GATE answer key be released?

A:

The GATE 2025 answer key will be released within two to three weeks of completing the examination. IIT Roorkee will conduct the GATE 2025 exam in two sessions on Feb 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. The exam timings for the GATE exam is - Morning (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and Afternoon (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm). 

Q:   How do I challenge GATE 2025 answer key?

A:

Candidates can challenge the GATE answer key in the following way -

  • Visit the official website of GATE or the GOAPS portal

  • Click on the answer key link and then select the “raise an objection” option

  • Choose the question you want to challenge

  • Pay the application fee for challenging the question (each question carries INR 500) to object. 

  • Submit the response.
