IIT Kanpur MS by Research Admission 2022: Application Process, Eligibility & Selection Criteria

IIT Kanpur offers a two-year MS by Research programme across 10 specialisations. These students are currently entitled to a monthly stipend of INR 12,400 for eight hours of work per week. Students may also avail financial assistantship from external funding agencies (such as UGC/ CSIR/ NBHM/ INSPIRE etc.). In addition to the above, several attractive fellowships from Industry/DAE are also available.

Eligibility:

In order to be eligible for MS by Research at IIT Kanpur, candidates must have the following:

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (4-year programme) or a master's degree in Science with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum for admission into MS by Research in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Photonics Science and Engineering
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (4-year programme) with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum for admission into MS by Research in Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering
  • Applicants with BSc (3-year) or equivalent with a minimum of 75% aggregate/7.5 CPI may also be considered for admission into MS by Research in Computer Science & Engineering and Photonics Science and Engineering

Selection criteria: A valid GATE/ CEED score + performance in the qualifying examination + interview

Financial support (Institute Assistantship/Scholarship) is also provided to non-sponsored MS (By Research) students. Those employed in industry or a college/ university/ institute may apply for admission as sponsored, external or part-time candidates.

IIT Kanpur MS by Research Application Process 2022

Candidates seeking admission at IIT Kanpur can apply both via online and offline modes. The online applications portal (for Indian nationals) is open from March 22 to April 11 (Monday). Interested students can visit the official website of IIT Kanpur PG admission, i.e. https://iitk.ac.in/doaa/pgadmission/ and click on ‘Important Links’ followed by the application form filling and online payment of application fee. Additionally, students can also download the application form from the above process and submit the filled form offline. Those willing to apply for more than one course must fill up separate application forms for each programme.

IIT Kanpur MS by Research Application Fee 2022

The application fee is INR 500 for General, EWS, OBC and OBC-NCL candidates and INR 250 for SC/ ST and all DAP candidates. However, the application fee is waived for candidates in the 'Foreign National' category.
