IIT Kanpur MTech Admission 2020: The last date to fill the application Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has re-extended the last date to fill the MTech application form was till May 24. The authorities released the application form for IIT Kanpur MTech admission 2020 on March 16.

MTech admissions to IIT Kanpur will be provided based on the scores obtained by candidates in GATE 2020. However, students (IIT graduates) having specific scores are exempted from having a valid GATE score. All aspirants were required to apply to the institute for IIT Kanpur MTech admission 2020 and then apply through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) 2020 as well. IIT Kanpur MTech Admission 2020: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for M.Tech admission at IIT Kanpur have to comply with the eligibility requirements as mentioned below:

  • BE/BTech from a recognised institute/university with 60% aggregate or 6 CPI/CGPA
  • A valid GATE 2020 score
  • IIT graduates with minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and 8 (minimum) in the last two years in the bachelor's programme are exempted from GATE scores

IIT Kanpur MTech Admission 2020: Application Form

The application form of IIT Kanpur MTech admission was available online till May 24. Students need to follow the below-mentioned steps to fill the application:

Step-1: Registration: To register for IIT Kanpur MTech admission, students need to register first of all by entering their name, email address and date of birth on the official website of IIT Kanpur. It will create login credentials for students that have to be used for logging in for further processes.

Step-2: Filling the Application Form: After registration and login, candidates will be required to enter the following details:

  • Candidate’s name
  • Parent’s name
  • Date of birth
  • Category
  • Nationality
  • PwD status
  • Marital status
  • Address
  • City
  • State
  • Pin Code
  • Landline/mobile number
  • Select Engineering Programme
  • Select candidate status
  • University name and address (Qualifying exam)
  • Institute code
  • Qualifying degree and discipline
  • Year of completing the degree
  • Rank in the qualifying exam
  • Qualifying year percentage semester-wise
  • Overall percentage
  • Work experience
  • Area of specialisation

Step-3: Document Uploading: After uploading the requisite personal and academic details, candidates were required to upload certain their photograph (jpg or png format) and the following documents (in pdf format only having a maximum size of 2 MB):

  • Proof of date of birth
  • GATE 2020 scorecard (or any other national level test if appeared for and relevant)
  • Marksheet of the qualifying examination
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
  • PwD Certificate (if applicable)

Step-4: Application Fee Payment:  Payment of application fee is the last step while applying for IIT Kanpur MTech admission 2020. Candidates had to pay the following amount online for applications depending upon their category:

  • For candidates of General/ OBC/ EWS categories: Rs 400
  • For candidates of SC/ ST/ PwD categories: Rs 200

Step-5: Application Form Submission: Once the details, information and fee payment is done with, candidates may submit the application by clicking on the “Final Submission”.

After applying through IIT Kanpur application portal, candidates will be required to separately apply through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) in order to accept admission offers. This will be followed by counselling and seat allotment to be communicated to aspirants.

IIT Kanpur MTech Admission 2020: Selection Process

After application form submission, eligible candidates will be called for document verification for which, the following documents will be needed:

  • Print out of the submitted application form
  • Receipt of payment of application fee (or transaction ID)
  • Original documents that are uploaded in soft copy with the IIT Kanpur MTech admission application
