In 2024, to get a BTech seat in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the open category candidates had to score a minimum of 8.68% in each subject and a total of 30.34% marks in JEE Advanced. On the other hand, candidates in the OBC category had to score 7.8% in each subject and 27.30% overall. The SC and ST candidates had to score 4.34% in each subject and 15.17% in aggregate. The minimum score required for IIT Admission through JEE Advanced 2024 has been announced with the JEE Advanced result.
Note that candidates have to score more than or equal to the JEE Advanced cutoff to be eligible for JoSAA counselling. However, the allotment of BTech seats is not guaranteed even if the candidates surpass the cutoff marks. Usually, the selection of candidates for IIT admission is almost twice the number of IIT seats available for BTech aspirants. Last year, 17385 seats were available in IIT BTech admission via JoSAA and 43773 JEE Advanced candidates were selected for JoSAA counselling. Hence the candidates must aspire to get a JEE Advanced AIR of 15000 or less to have a sure shot at IIT BTech admission.
