NTA JEE Main eligibility criteria for candidates to appear in the exam is
- There is no minimum or maximum percentage required to appear in JEE Main. However, candidate need to have 75% marks in class 12 in addition to a valid JEE Main rank in order to get admission in NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs.
- Candidate must have passed class 12 in 2022, 2023 or appearing in 2024
- Candidate must have Maths and Physics as a compulsory subejct in class 12 for Paper 1 (BTech)
- For Paper 2A (BArch), it is compulsory to have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class 12 and for Paper 2B (BPlan), candidate must have Mathematics in class 12
- There is no age limit to apply for JEE Main

The top 2.5 lakh candidates who qualify for the JEE Advanced would comprise students from unreserved as well as reserved categories. The exam conducting authority will publish the raw score obtained by a candidate in JEE Main as well as the corresponding percentile score. Qualifying marks for JEE Mains 2025, also called qualifying percentile for JEE Mains will be announced by the NTA along with the session 2 result. Candidates must note that qualifying percentile for JEE Mains 2025 is the minimum percentile required to appear in JEE Advanced 2025. For admission to NIT or IIITs, there is no provision of qualifying marks in JEE Mains 2025 and admission is given based on All India Rank in JEE Mains exam. Candidates applying for JEE Main need to fulfill the following subject combination
- For Paper 1 (BE/BTech), candidates must have Physics and Maths in Class 12 and any one subject from Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical vocational subject.
- For Paper 2A (BArch), candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in Class 12.
- For Paper 2B (BPlan), candidates must have Maths in Class 12.
NTA releases the JEE Main 2025 admit card on the official website for eligible candidates only. To download their JEE mains exam admit card, candidates must enter JEE Main login details like their application number and date of birth on the official website. The exam conducting authority is expected to release the official JEE Main 2025 answer key within 3 days post-conclusion of the exam.
Students and parents should note that the expected cutoff provided above is based on the cutoff for 2024. The exact cutoff for 2025 may vary. However, depending on the number of students who appear and the general trends observed over the years, the expected cutoff score remains the same with a variance range of about 5 marks either way.
The percentile of a candidate is the basis for calculating the JEE Main score. As candidates appear for the exam in different shifts of different days, the percentile scores of the students are normalized and calculated as per the formula available on the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.
