Mumbai University offers a number of UG and PG programmes in the field of Engineering such as BE/BTech, Part-time BE, ME, MTech and Part-time ME. The University (under its affiliated colleges) offers admission to BE/BTech programme based on the performance in Maharashtra Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET). There are also a few affiliated colleges under the University that consider JEE Main rank for admission to BE/BTech. Admission to MTech programme at MU, however, is based on a valid score in GATE exam. The University offers all the Engineering programmes in both part-time and full-time mode across different specialisations.

Mumbai University BE Admission 2021

In the field of Engineering, the University of Mumbai offers four-year BE and Part-time BE programme in 17 and six specialisations, respectively.

Final selection: MHT CET/ JEE Main

Eligibility vriteria

  • A pass in Class 12 with English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects and a  minimum of 45% aggregate (40% for backward categories students from Maharashtra)
  • For Biomedical and Biotech Engineering branch: Candidates, along with the above-mentioned specialisation, must have Biology has a qualifying exam is a must with a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% for backward categories students from Maharashtra)

In addition to the regular BE/BTech programme, the University of Mumbai offers a four-year part-time BE programme.

Final selection: Meeting with minimum eligibility criteria set by the University.

  • Diploma examination in Engineering/Technology in the relevant branch with not less than 50% aggregate (45% for backward categories students from Maharashtra)
  • A minimum 1-year of work experience*

Mumbai University Admission 2021: ME, MTech

At the PG level, Mumbai University offers ME programme of two-year duration in the field of Engineering. Offered in 20 specialisations, a majority of the specialisations have a set of sub-specialisations under them. Mumbai University ME admission is based on a valid GATE score and will be conducted through DTE Maharashtra.

Apart from the above-mentioned courses, MU also offers a two-year MTech programme under 12 specialisations:

  • For all MTech programmes, there is a 5% relaxation to reserved category students with Maharashtra state domicile
  • For MTech in Green Technology, candidates with a valid score in any nationally conducted entrance such as GATE, NET, SET are given preference for admission
  • For MTech in Textile (MText), candidates with a valid score in GATE are given preference for admission

Mumbai University Part-time ME Admission 2021

In addition to full-time ME, MU also offers a part-time ME programme across A pass in BE/BTech degree at least 55% aggregate (50% for backward class candidates) in five specialisations. Under these, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering courses are further bifurcated into six, six and two sub-specialisations, respectively. Candidates seeking admission are required to have a relevant BTech degree as the minimum eligibility.

Mumbai University Engineering Application Process 2021

Candidates seeking admission to Mumbai University for UG or PG level Engineering programmes must apply for the course-specific entrance exam followed by applying to the desired affiliated college. After appearing for the required entrance exam, the University/exam holding authority will conduct a counselling process for final seat allotment.

  • Selection to BE/BTech will be based on MHT-CET followed by online counseling conducted by Mumbai University. Check MHT-CET application process here.
